Miami Heat Gets Bad News on LeBron James Trade as Insiders Reveal Costly 2010 Deal

LeBron James’ free agency continues to dominate the NBA offseason, with the Miami Heat among the teams linked to the four-time NBA champion. While James has not announced his next destination, ESPN insiders Brian Windhorst and Bobby Marks revisited the 2010 sign-and-trade that first brought him to Miami, explaining how the move ultimately had long-term consequences for the franchise.

Speaking on ESPN’s “The Hoop Collective”, Marks said the Heat’s decision to complete sign-and-trades for James and the rest of the “Big Three” cost the organization valuable draft capital, while Windhorst argued that the same transaction eventually helped Cleveland reacquire James in 2014. Their discussion comes as Miami once again waits to see whether it can bring James back to South Beach.

The memories driving Purdue's bid to snap Broncos hoodoo

Fresh from signing a mega deal through to the end of 2030, young gun Jaxon Purdue has turned his focus to securing a breakthrough victory over the Broncos.

The Mackay product grew up supporting North Queensland, with his parents regularly driving the family the four hours to Townsville to watch the team play.

Purdue eventually achieved his lifelong dream in 2024 and his decision to commit to long-term to the Cowboys gives him the chance to build a legacy in Townsville.

The 20-year-old had been at the centre of plenty of speculation over his future but put that all to bed on Wednesday when the club announced his four-year extension.

Storm 'interested' in signing Broncos star after playmaker inks $3m deal with rival NRL club

The Melbourne Storm have reportedly turned their attention to Broncos centre Gehamat Shibasaki after missing out on Cowboys young gun Jaxon Purdue. Purdue's decision to re-sign with the Cowboys came as a major blow for the Storm, after Craig Bellamy's club were among a number of rivals chasing his signature.

Purdue has agreed to a four-year extension with North Queensland worth a reported $3 million all up, keeping him at the Cowboys until the end of 2030. The 20-year-old has predominantly played five-eighth and centre for the Cowboys, but is believed to be viewed as the club's long-term fullback. Current No.1 Scott Drinkwater is under contract for 2027, but has been linked to the Dragons for next season.

Jaxon Purdue says his priority was always to stay at North Queensland after turning down the possibility of big deals elsewhere to ink a new four-year extension with the NRL club.

Purdue had loomed as one of the best prospects on the market for next year, with the young gun off contract at the end of this season and a key priority for the Cowboys.
