Stock futures slip after U.S. initiates another round of attacks against Iran: Live updates

U.S. equity futures fell slightly Wednesday evening after the market sold off on renewed U.S.-Iran tensions and a jump in oil prices.

Futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average were down 56 points, or 0.1%. S&P 500 futures fell 0.1%, and Nasdaq 100 futures lost 0.2% as well.

The U.S. launched fresh strikes on Iran in response to Tehran's attacks on commercial shipping in and around the Strait of Hormuz, U.S. Central Command said Wednesday afternoon. West Texas Intermediate crude futures were last up roughly 1%.

Earlier in the day, President Donald Trump said he may no longer be interested in negotiating a deal with Iran. Prior to that, he said that the ceasefire between the U.S. and Tehran is "over" after another wave of attacks in the Middle East.

US stock markets fall amid Iran strikes and potential higher interest rates

Dow down 1.09%, or 500 points, as S&P 500 sees a small loss and tech-heavy Nasdaq rises slightly

US stock markets fell on Wednesday as the US continued strikes on Iran and the Federal Reserve flagged concerns that would warrant higher interest rates.

Donald Trump’s declaration at the Nato summit in Ankara that the Iran-US ceasefire is over sent oil prices sharply higher on Wednesday. Brent crude, the global benchmark, jumped more than 5% to crest $80 a barrel. US stocks fell in step, with the Dow down 1.09%, or 500 points, at closing Wednesday afternoon. The S&P 500 saw a small loss while the tech-heavy Nasdaq rose slightly. Global stocks had fallen earlier in the day, with the UK’s FTSE 100 down 1% as Japan’s Nikkei fell 2.1%.

David Ornstein’s jaw-dropping morning update is bad news for Liverpool & Bradley Barcola

PSG reportedly value Bradley Barcola above the £116m fee Manchester City are set to pay for Elliot Anderson.

David Ornstein reports for The Athletic that the Champions League holders do not need to sell the France international either way after agreeing the sale of Goncalo Ramos to AC Milan.

Another blow to Liverpool – after a deal for Yan Diomande fell through – which further whittles down their offensive shortlist.

There’s no question that Barcola is an exceptional footballer and would be well-deserving of a significant price tag were he to move away from Ligue 1 this summer.

PSG set crazy asking price for Arsenal transfer target

David Ornstein reports for The Athletic that Paris Saint-Germain neither need nor want to sell Bradley Barcola this summer, amid reports of interest from the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool.

PSG have already agreed a significant sale for Goncalo Ramos to join AC Milan, and the French champions believe Barcola is worth significantly more than the £116m Manchester City will pay for Elliot Anderson.

More than just having a high asking price, PSG consider Barcola ‘not for sale’, despite the winger’s reluctance to extend his contract.

Ornstein also reported over the weekend that Yan Diomande has chosen PSG as his next destination, if he leaves RB Leipzig this summer. That decision could push Liverpool towards Barcola, as they’d previously been set on signing Diomande themselves.

Arsenal Want 'World-Class' Star Instead Of Morgan Rogers As Scouting Mission Planned

Arsenal are eyeing up potential alternatives to Morgan Rogers this summer, as BBC Sport claims that a scouting mission is planned for one of the stars on the club's shortlist.

Mikel Arteta and his team appear keen to add some more firepower to their frontline, particularly on the left flank, where they feel some improvement can be made in the coming weeks.

Rogers has emerged as the priority target to fill that role in the window, with his performances for Aston Villa and England proving the quality he could bring to the Premier League champions.

A deal won't be easy, however, as Aston Villa value him at £130 million, which would be a Premier League record move for the playmaker.

Chip stocks drop as AI rally shows ‘signs of fatigue’, as SpaceX’s huge IPO looms – as it happened

Technology shares prices are falling at the start of trading in New York, after chip giant Broadcom failed to impress Wall Street last night.

The Nasdaq share index has dropped by 1.08% in early trading, as the recent strong rally in tech stocks hits a hurdle.

This is not a great backdrop for SpaceX’s plans for the largest stock market flotation ever, announced last night.

Broadcom are leading the Nasdaq fallers, down 14.3% as its latest outlook for AI sales missed forecasts.

Last night, Broadcom estimated AI chip sales for the third quarter of its financial year would be $16bn, below analysts’ estimates of $17.2bn.

The Limestone Coast Veterans Hub has created a special rug covered in purple poppies knitted and crocheted by women from the Limestone Coast, as well as Victoria and Tasmania.

The rug will be worn by Penny the donkey in Mount Gambier's Anzac Day march, raising awareness of the role animals play in war.

Penny's example has spread to Cheshire in England, where donkeys wearing purple poppy rugs will join a local procession for Anzac Day.

Among the sights and sounds of uniformed servicemen and women, veterans and officials marching down the main street of Mount Gambier this Anzac Day will be the hoof-beats of a small grey donkey.

Damp streets and deep silence: Brisbane remembers in the pre-dawn darkness

Before the going up of the sun, as with every Anzac Day, thousands gathered in the heart of Brisbane to remember those who have fallen.

The 2026 Anzac Day dawn service at Queensland’s Shrine of Remembrance was, as always, a sacred and sombre affair, with the crowd spilling over both Ann and Adelaide streets to Post Office Square.

There was a smattering of rain – a good reminder of the discomforts our Diggers endured, RSL Queensland chief executive Rob Skoda would later reflect – but Army chaplain James Hall’s prayers were answered as the ceremony commenced at 4.30am with stars poking through the parting clouds.

Saturday Morning Confidential: The NBA Trade Season Latest

So let's just get right into it as Thursday's 3 PM ET NBA trade deadline draws ever closer … with a look at the latest from the Giannis Sweepstakes and much more happening elsewhere:

Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bucks are focal point as trade deadline nears

Suitors aplenty may be lining up deals for Milwaukee's superstar with the Feb. 5 trade deadline quickly approaching.

Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo looms as a central figure to watch as the Feb. 5 trade deadline nears.

As the NBA trade deadline loomed last year, a star player reacted to the blockbuster trade that sent Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers and Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks by saying the following:

“It’s a business. You have to understand this. Nobody’s safe. Nobody’s safe.”

This season’s deadline is fast approaching, now less than a week away, and it’s Antetokounmpo who is the epicenter of the NBA trade universe this time. Speculation about his future — will the Bucks trade him or not? — will continue until he either gets moved or until the deadline hits Thursday afternoon. And if he doesn’t get moved now, the rumors will almost certainly resume in June around the draft and the start of free agency.

How Blazers can shake up Giannis trade sweepstakes, much to the delight of Bucks

The Milwaukee Bucks have been backed into a corner when it comes to the inevitable Giannis Antetokounmpo trade all season. Had they acted sooner, they likely would have received a historic haul for their two-time MVP. Asset-rich teams like the Spurs and Rockets might have been interested last summer. They've since moved on, and that has left the Bucks to sift through lesser offers.

Trading Antetokounmpo for, say, Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges would do little for Milwaukee's long-term outlook. Golden State's draft picks are potentially valuable, but ultimately a mystery box. Kel'El Ware is a promising young big. You'd expect someone with a clearer path to stardom to be the centerpiece of an Antetokounmpo package. But what could the Bucks do? Antetokounmpo is set for 2027 free agency. They had no leverage. They could trade him for 50 cents on the dollar or let him leave for nothing.
