Indonesian police say a mother is experiencing 'deep shock and grief' after the deaths of her husband and two children, which is being investigated as a double murder-suicide.

Bali Provincial Police said the bodies of 56-year-old Damien John Shaw, his six-year-old son and four-year-old daughter were found inside their bungalow in the popular tourist resort of Kuta on Sunday morning.

In a statement, police said neighbours checked in on the family after a call from the man's wife, who had recently arrived in Jakarta.

‘Stop daddy’: Tragic details emerge after WA dad kills kids

Chilling details have emerged after a Perth father allegedly smothered his two young children to death before taking his own life inside a Bali villa.

The horrific scene was uncovered at the Arca Bungalow complex in Legian, close to the well-known Padma Resort, about 10.15am on Sunday, four days after Damien John Shaw’s wife had left the family’s home to travel to Jakarta.

It can now be revealed the frantic mother triggered the gruesome discovery after receiving a haunting phone call from her 56-year-old husband earlier that morning.

While on the phone to Mr Shaw, she heard her terrified four-year-old daughter crying and begging, “stop daddy”.

Bali police investigate after Australian man and children found dead in home

Police in Bali are investigating after the bodies of an Australian man and his two children were found dead in their bungalow in a popular tourist area.

Damien John Shaw, 56, and his two children, a boy aged six and a girl aged four, were found dead in their home in Kuta on Sunday.

Police said neighbours had checked in on the family after a call from the man's wife, who had become concerned after a phone call with her husband. She was not in Bali at the time.

Australian media reported that police were treating the case as a suspected murder-suicide. Police told the BBC they had not yet determined the cause or manner of death and that further examinations would be carried out.

There’s no more Mother and Son, but Denise Scott has found a new path to travel

Denise Scott was a reluctant genealogical traveller the first time around, declaring a complete lack of interest in her lineage on the 2020 season of Who Do You Think You Are? But when Shaun Micallef came knocking for his looser version of the format, Scott thought it was time to have another crack, and maybe mend a fence with her former Vega FM co-host.

Not that the pair were the Kyle and Jackie O of mid-noughties Melbourne radio. But, failing to gel on air, they’d avoided each other ever since. Travelling to the medieval town of Goslar in Germany, to research Scott’s missing maternal line, they reconnected over wurst, silver mining and yodelling.

‘My mother was 4ft 11in and scared the hell out of people’ – Sean Astin on child stardom, The Lord of the Rings and surviving 45 years in Hollywood

His mother was an Oscar-winning actor who had been exploited from a young age; Astin appeared in The Goonies at just 13. Now, he has followed in his mother’s footsteps again as a union leader. He talks Stranger Things, AI and why playing Samwise Gamgee cost him his house

Sean Astin is showing me around his new office. There’s framed movie prints on the walls, piles of paperwork and a stack of boxes of Stranger Things Funko Pops. “If you were here, you could look out this window and see a 10-storey building with our iconic Sag-Aftra logo on it,” he says proudly on video call, gesturing out of the window to the Los Angeles skyline. “But you just have to trust me that it’s there.” He shows me a framed photo of his mother, Patty Duke, aged 16, with the best supporting actress Oscar she won in 1963 (for playing Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker), and even more proudly, a framed copy of Duke’s business card from when she was president of the Screen Actors Guild in the mid-80s – the role he now occupies (Sag merged with the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists in 2012). The 10 months of his presidency “has been a whirlwind”, he says.

Sean Astin's 'Lord of the Rings' Pay Was So Low He Had to Sell His House

Sean Astin said in a new interview with The Guardian that he was forced to sell his house amid “The Lord of the Rings” fame in the early 2000s because he negotiated such a small salary to play Samwise Gamgee in Peter Jackson’s landmark movie trilogy. The reveal may come as a shock to fans considering the “Rings” movies were cultural phenomenons that grossed $2.9 billion at the worldwide box office between 2001 and 2003.

“I was not prepared for that level of visibility and access,” Astin told the publication. “And there was a disconnect between the attention that I was getting and how much money we had. It was not a lot of money! In fact, I had to sell my house because I negotiated such a small amount on the trilogy.”

Sean Astin Says He “Had to Sell” House Due to Low Pay From ‘Lord of the Rings’

The actor played the pivotal role of Samwise Gamgee in the trilogy that grossed $2.9 billion at the worldwide box office.

Sean Astin, who played Samwise Gamgee in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, has revealed that he had to sell his house at the time because he didn’t make enough money.

During a recent interview with The Guardian, Astin, who now serves as the national president of the actors’ union SAG-AFTRA, opened up about finding fame in the early 2000s when the Peter Jackson-directed film franchise became a global phenomenon, grossing $2.9 billion at the worldwide box office.

“I was not prepared for that level of visibility and access,” Astin admitted. “And there was a disconnect between the attention that I was getting and how much money we had. It was not a lot of money!”

Fun times and lots of smiles. Selina and Jaharn's bond is strong. (Supplied/ ABC graphics)

Unsure if he was lovable as a child, Jaharn recalls the dread he felt when Mother's Day was celebrated at school. Watching his friends greet and hug their parents while he remained alone was confusing.

One question dominated his thoughts: "Why don't my parents love me?"

That anxiety is no longer a concern for the confident 19-year-old, who grew up in out-of-home care and holds his own when advocating with some of Australia's most seasoned politicians.

There is certainty in the knowledge that his mum cares for him by choice and he lives in a home that is consistently secure and loving.

Women who have experienced pregnancy loss are breaking the silence at an annual Mother's Day high tea.

About 2,300 babies each year do not survive childbirth, and the event run by charity Bears of Hope aims to give mums a safe space to discuss and grieve their loss.

Mothers who participate in the event say it has helped them remove the stigma around discussing infant loss.

Jessica Rogers will never forget the day she had to leave hospital after giving birth, without her baby in her arms.

Technical Discussion: Mother’s Day weekend includes a First Alert Weather Day

Isolated showers are dwindling and will continue to dissipate as we lose our daytime heating. The term “heating” being used loosely here, as temps are about 10 degrees below average! Keep a jacket nearby if you are heading out for any Friday evening plans. Tonight, clouds will increase. Temperatures are going to drop quickly at first, leveling off past midnight. It will be seasonably cool in the 40s. Showers are expected by daybreak.

The 2nd weekend of May is shaping up to be unsettled. Saturday is breezy and cool with temps running 10-15 degrees below normal. It’s also going to be a wet day, with periods of rain from the morning through sunset. It could be more substantial from late afternoon into the evening hours (steadier, perhaps heavier). While some rumbles of thunder can’t be ruled out, severe weather is not a concern. And, while we could pick up 0.5-1.0” of rain (locally higher amounts possible), we’re not anticipating any threat of flooding (as the rain falls over a 12-18 hour window of time). Because of the rain’s impact to outdoor plans, we’ve declared a First Alert Weather Day. Fortunately, Mother’s Day still looks like an improvement! While there could be an afternoon shower, most of the day is dry with temps peaking slightly above average, in the upper 60s and lower 70s (this is also our warmest day of the next 7). The chance for rain increases again at night.

‘My mother had a crush on Charles’: Trump turns on the charm

The US president put aside his blazing row with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer for the King’s visit to Washington, which is seen as crucial to repairing trans-Atlantic relations.

Washington | Since he was a boy, Donald Trump has had a fascination for the British royal family, inspired by his Scottish-born mother, Mary Anne MacLeod.

In the past, he has spoken of how watching the 1953 coronation of Queen Elizabeth II with his mother was a formative childhood memory. But to mark the state visit of King Charles III and Queen Camilla on Tuesday (Wednesday AEST), he offered a new, more revealing anecdote.

Trump recalls his Scottish mother describing a young Prince Charles as 'cute'

Donald Trump has recalled his Scottish mother describing King Charles as "cute" during his time as a young prince.

The US president was speaking about his mother Mary's love for the Royal Family during a speech at the White House, which was attended by the King and Queen Camilla on the second day of their US visit.

Trump's mother, Mary Anne MacLeod, was born and brought up on the Hebridean island of Lewis but emigrated to New York in 1930.

"I remember her saying very clearly 'Charles, look young Charles he is so cute'," Trump said.

He jokingly added: "My mother had a crush on Charles – can you believe it?"

Duxbury mother, Lindsay Clancy, accused of killing her 3 kids appears in court for first time

Lindsay Clancy, the Duxbury, Massachusetts mother accused of killing her three children, appeared in court for the first time on Friday for a hearing ahead of her murder trial.

Clancy is charged with the murders of her three children: Cora, age 5, Dawson, age 3, and Callan, age 8 months.

Prosecutors allege that Clancy deliberately sent her husband out to run an errand the night of January 24, 2023, so that she had time to harm her children. They also claim she did not suffer from postpartum depression.

After allegedly killing the children, Clancy jumped out a window in an attempt to take her own life, which resulted in her paralysis and being wheelchair bound. To date, Clancy has attended every hearing in her case virtually from Tewksbury State Hospital, where she is being held in a treatment program.

Lindsay Clancy appears in court, asks judge to split murder trial into two parts – Boston News, Weather, Sports

PLYMOUTH, MASS. (WHDH) – Lindsay Clancy, the 35-year-old Duxbury mother arrested and indicted for murdering her three young children in January 2023, appeared in court in person for the first time Friday. Her defense team is asking the judge to split her trial into two parts.

Prosecutors argue Clancy deliberately strangled her three children, who were 8-months-old, 3-years-old, and 5-years-old at the time, with exercise bands. The children’s father found them in the basement after he had gone to pick up a prescription and dinner. Clancy also attempted to stab herself, and jumped out a window of her home. She survived, but is paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair.

Plea to help Australian mother Samantha Baillie, injured in Bali accident which left one dead

Friends and family have rallied to support an Australian mother suffering life-threatening injuries after an accident in Bali raising more than $50,000 in a day for her medical bills.

Samantha Baillie was on her first overseas trip when she was injured on December 27.

While details of the accident have not been disclosed, a fundraiser set up by a friend said she was in a critical condition, and another Australian she was with at the time had died.

The fundraiser was set up on behalf of the Baillie family by friend Savannah-Leigh Homer, who said both she and Samantha’s mother had flown to Bali to be by her hospital bedside.

Regional Queensland news presenter ROB BROUGH farewelled by 7 NEWS

The on-air acknowledgement aired at the end of the night’s news, where current presenter Nathan Spurling addressed viewers before a short montage of clips from Brough’s time with the network was shown.

Spurling thanked Brough for his commitment and contribution to Seven Queensland, marking the end of a lengthy tenure with the broadcaster.

“Rob’s been a familiar and trusted voice across Seven Queensland, and above all, our thoughts are with him and his family,” Spurling said.

The farewell comes after Brough was last seen presenting the bulletin around 15 months ago, having been on extended personal leave from his regular role across Seven’s regional Queensland bulletins, including the Sunshine Coast, Wide Bay, Central Queensland and Cairns.

    Breaking: Seven farewells Rob Brough

TV Blackbox reports that longtime 7News Queensland regional newsreader Rob Brough has been officially farewelled by the network.

Brough, who emerged from regional radio and appeared on the ABC and Nine in Brisbane before joining Seven, hosted Family Feud in the very late 1980s and early 1990s.

He was sacked from the game show without explanation and replaced by John Deeks. Years later, he told an interviewer: “They called me into Seven, nobody knew what was going on. Then management just said ‘we’re going to make a change’, and they didn’t tell me who was going to do it (host the show).”
