Australian Lucas Herrington has signed five-year deal with English Premier League club Hull City.

The Queenslander impressed for the Socceroos during this year's FIFA World Cup at just 18 years of age.

Hull begins its Premier League campaign with a home match against Manchester United on August 22.

The Colorado Rapids have sold 18-year-old center back Lucas Herrington to Premier League side Hull City, they announced Wednesday afternoon. Herrington, who represented Australia at the 2026 World Cup, departs the Rapids for a club record fee. His move is the highest fee for any defender in MLS history.

Herrington will fetch the Rapids a record-breaking return. The center back, who has only been in America for six months, has been purchased by Hull for an initial fee of a reported $17 million. Add-ons could see the deal total $23m. The Rapids also negotiated a 15 percent sell-on clause.

‘Speaks for itself’: Luai move confirmed after fiery Benji presser

Benji Marshall has fired back at the “made up” rumours surrounding Jarome Luai after the decision from Wests Tigers officials to let the co-captain leave and sign with rivals Parramatta for the 2027 season.

Luai is in the second season in what was originally a five-year contract, but earlier this year signed with the PNG Chiefs for their inaugural 2028 campaign.

It was originally expected that Luai would remain at Concord next year, but the Tigers have since released the five-eighth for 2027 and he is now set to join the Eels on a stop-gap deal, as confirmed by the club on Tuesday evening.

The Parramatta Eels are delighted to announce that four-time NRL premiership-winning half Jarome Luai will join the Club for the 2027 NRL season.

One of the game's most accomplished playmakers, Luai brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the Eels after establishing himself as one of the competition's premier halves.

Luai has enjoyed success at the highest level throughout his career and has also represented New South Wales in State of Origin, and Samoa on the international stage. LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers have hit their stride of late, winning 18 of their last 24 games to build a sizable lead in the NL West as we near the halfway point of their regular-season schedule.

The back-to-back champions have done this despite injuries to key players and underperformance from some of their stars, so I figured now would be a good time for a mailbag. Thank you to everyone who submitted questions, which have been lightly edited for clarity. Let's get into it:

The Dodgers face the Pittsburgh Pirates for three games before departing for the South Side for a three-game interleague set versus the Chicago White Sox. For a club that has yet to fully find its stride offensively, things are still pretty good in Dodgers Land. Los Angeles is 18 games over .500 and owns a comfy 7 1/2 game lead over the Arizona Diamondbacks in the NL West. Still, perhaps the top of the order can start producing more consistently, starting with the player named in our first question.

Dave Roberts explained his reasoning for putting Mookie Betts on the leadoff spot in the Dodgers' series finale vs. the Diamondbacks.

On Thursday night, Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts decided to shake up the lineup order in the final game of a three-game set against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Typically over the past few seasons, the Dodgers have utilized Shohei Ohtani as the leadoff hitter. But Roberts switched it up, instead deploying Mookie Betts to lead the lineup with Ohtani having the day off after shutting out the Diamondbacks on Wednesday in a 7-0 win.

The lineup order scarcely mattered for the Dodgers, as they ended up running into the buzzsaw that was Ryne Nelson on the mound. Nelson threw seven innings and allowed just two earned runs on five hits. Betts, in a new leadoff role, went 0-4, as his struggles at the plate continued.

Robertson close to Spurs move after Liverpool exit

Tottenham would be Robertson's third club in England after spells at Hull City and Liverpool

Tottenham are close to agreeing a deal with Scotland full-back Andy Robertson following his departure from Liverpool.

The 32-year-old played his final match for Liverpool against Brentford on Sunday, having announced he would leave the club when his contract ends this summer.

Details remain to be finalised on the deal with Spurs but an agreement is in place in principle.

Tottenham, then managed by Thomas Frank, targeted Robertson during the January transfer window.

A deal was agreed between the two clubs, only for Liverpool to pull out when they were unable to recall Kostas Tsimikas from his loan at Roma.

Tottenham have reportedly reached a verbal agreement to sign left-back Andy Robertson when his Liverpool contract expires ahead of next season. The Scotland captain departs Anfield after nine highly successful years, choosing to remain in the Premier League with Spurs after Roberto De Zerbi saved them from relegation to the Championship.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have won the race for Robertson's signature. Spurs had previously attempted to secure the left-back in January, but the deal collapsed when Liverpool failed to recruit an immediate replacement. Now, following the conclusion of the season and his emotional farewell during a 1-1 draw with Brentford on Sunday, the 32-year-old is set to join De Zerbi's squad in north London.

Romano: Andy Robertson reaches full agreement with Spurs

Well, this one has been in the works for a while and according to Fabrizio Romano, it’s a done deal — Andrew Robertson will be signing with Tottenham Hotspur momentarily after reaching full agreement on personal terms with the club. Robertson, a Scotland international fullback, is leaving Liverpool upon the expiration of his contract and will sign with Spurs on a free transfer.

Robertson is a good player and will probably be competing with Destiny Udogie next season at left back, but the real thing he brings to Spurs, according to all the previous reports, are things like experience and leadership and capability. All good things, to be fair! Robertson has lost a step from his peak years at Liverpool and that’s a little scary, but the one thing he does know how to do is pick out a good pass, and that’s something Spurs really really really need.

The AFL seemingly has high hopes for the Fremantle Dockers this season, with the league applying to trademark a phrase associated with high-pressure moments at the club’s home games.

Documents filed with IP Australia, the government agency responsible for administering intellectual property, reveal the AFL applied to trademark the phrase “Wharfie Time” last month.

The application is still being considered as part of the examination process, with a report expected in early July.

The phrase was coined by former captain Matthew Pavlich in 2009, who famously told teammates to “put on your Superman capes, it’s wharfie time”.

The club has embraced the unofficial motto and often uses it to signify a tight contest, with the words emblazoning the screens at Optus Stadium to incite the crowd to cheer louder and urge the Dockers to victory.
