Storm Narra moves towards Guangxi and four Thai regions face heavy rain

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) on Sunday (August 23, 2026) forecast thunderstorms across Thailand over the next 24 hours, with isolated heavy rain in the North, the upper Northeast, the Central region and the East.

A monsoon trough extends across the upper North and upper Laos into Tropical Storm Narra over the Gulf of Tonkin, while a rather strong southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand.

People in those areas were advised to remain alert to the dangers posed by heavy rain and accumulated rainfall, which could lead to flash floods, rapid run-off from forested areas and rivers overflowing their banks, particularly on foothill slopes near waterways and in low-lying areas.

Medical and welfare teams are also reaching traumatised families, elderly residents and people with disabilities. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul arrives on Sunday to review the northern emergency, promising maximum compensation and central funds.

Canada signs landmark LNG energy deal with Germany

Canada has announced a landmark energy agreement with Germany that will see the first-ever long-term shipments of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Canada to Europe in the coming years.

It comes as European nations search for new reliable energy sources and as Canada seeks to diversify trade away from the US.

The deal was announced on Wednesday in Vancouver by Canada's energy minister, Tim Hodgson, who called it "an exciting and important milestone".

It involves the shipping of one million tonnes per year of LNG from Ksi Lisims, a proposed project on British Columbia's coast, to Germany by its national energy utility company Securing Energy for Europe (SEFE).

Tell Me Lies moves beyond its main toxic pair in a strong, less steamy season 3

There has never been a single act of deception at the center of Hulu’s Tell Me Lies. The characters in the college-set drama lie to one another—and themselves—regularly and without remorse, creating a toxic stew of untruths and gossip that threatens to boil over at any moment. Season three is no different. Creator Meaghan Oppenheimer continues to ratchet up the tension as the show works toward connecting its late-2000s and 2015 timelines. But in between the emotional warfare and surprise hookups lies a newfound sense of introspection, making this run of Tell Me Lies its most interesting yet.

Why ‘Tell Me Lies’ Season 3 Has TikTok In A Chokehold

‘Tell Me Lies’ season 3 is back on Hulu and fans are spiraling over the toxic romance all over again.

So, remember when we all swore we were done rooting for Lucy and Stephen at the end of Tell Me Lies season 2? Yeah, about that. Season 3 is here on Hulu (and Hulu on Disney+), and the toxic-romance discourse is louder than ever.

The new season drops its first two episodes on January 13, 2026, kicking off eight total episodes that run into late February, and the vibes are already pure emotional chaos.

Fans are binging, hate-watching, and spiral-texting their group chats in real time. It is that kind of season.

Energy blueprint shake-up as 'market moves faster than the systems plan'

Not a single wind farm has begun construction in Australia in 2025. (ABC News: Nathan Morris)

The body that runs Australia's biggest power market has scaled back its plans for high-voltage power lines and wind farms to meet the country's green energy targets.

Instead, the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) has forecast Australia will need to rely more heavily on big solar farms, batteries and households if it is to get 82 per cent of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030.

The agency has today released the draft version of its latest "integrated system plan", which it describes as a road map for decarbonising Australia's electricity system.

Australia’s energy grid must triple capacity by 2050 with major increase to wind and solar, Aemo says

Market operator says capital cost of infrastructure under optimal path would be $128bn in today’s dollars, but price of delay is even higher

The capacity of Australia’s main electricity grid will need to triple by 2050 – including a fivefold expansion of large-scale wind, solar and storage – under the most likely development path, the national energy market operator says.

The estimate is included in the Australian Energy Market Operator (Aemo) draft “integrated system plan” for the national electricity market, the power grid that connects the five eastern states and the ACT.

The Australian Energy Market Operator has pushed out its forecast for the end of coal power in the eastern states by 11 years and slashed the amount of new transmission lines it expects by 2050, but says the cost of the system as it transitions towards more renewables will still increase to $128 billion.

Cost estimates for new poles and wires projects have surged by up to 100 per cent since 2024, while the timing for building them has also been pushed out after extensive consultation for the operator’s draft 2026 blueprint for the power grid.

TURIN, Italy — Carlos Alcaraz is one win away from securing the year-ending No. 1 ranking.

Alcaraz rallied past Taylor Fritz 6-7 (2), 7-5, 6-3 on Tuesday at the ATP Finals and now needs to either win his final group match against Lorenzo Musetti or an eventual semifinal to finish a year No. 1 for the second time in his career.

Alcaraz, who improved to 2-0 at the season-ending event for the top eight players, could seal a spot in the semifinals if Alex de Minaur beats Musetti later.

Carlos Alcaraz has seized control of Alex de Minaur's group in the ATP Finals after coming back from a set down to defeat Taylor Fritz 6-7 (2-7) 7-5 6-3 in Turin.

The world No.2 needed two hours, 48 minutes to see off the American and back up his first round victory over de Minaur.

That left the Australian knowing if he can beat Lorenzo Musetti in the Jimmy Connors group's second match on Tuesday (local time) he would set up a winner-takes-all final group tie with Fritz as both chase a semi-final place.
