NEW YORK – Chad Michael Murray's current work trip, in which the Buffalo, New York-based actor traveled to North Carolina for a "One Tree Hill" reunion before heading north to New York City, is a little different from his typical promo runs.
"I'm having a daddy-daughter trip right now," Murray, 44, tells USA TODAY. "We thought, 'You know what? (Our youngest is) going to skip on this one. She doesn't need to be on the plane right now, you know, terrorize everybody.'"
Murray and his wife of 11 years, actress Sarah Roemer, share three children: a son, 9, a daughter, 8 (who sits in on daddy's interview from the USA TODAY studio control room) and another daughter, 2. The parents don't share their children's names publicly and only recently brought the two eldest into the spotlight, as they joined their parents at the Los Angeles premiere of "Freakier Friday" in July.

The One Tree Hill alum shared his thoughts on being a part of the storyline in which his character Lucas Scott's dad and series antagonist Dan Scott (Paul Johansson) was meant to receive a heart transplant, only for a dog to eat the donated organ at the last second.
"I remember I begged and pleaded, begged and pleaded, 'Please, I don't need to be there. There is no need for Lucas Scott to be there,'" Chad told People in a joint interview with James Lafferty published Nov. 6. "'If you really want to do it, fine. Go ahead and write the scene, but it's terrible.'"

One Tree Hill had many shocking twists and turns during its nine seasons, but Chad Michael Murray (Lucas Scott) and James Lafferty (Nathan Scott) chose the one that they thought was the most ridiculous. Murray and Lafferty played half brothers Lucas and Nathan, sons of villain Dan Scott (Paul Johansson), who went from being enemies to close friends throughout the series' run.
One Tree Hill eventually revealed that both Dan and Lucas had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), which eventually required Dan to have a heart transplant. Lafferty and Murray chose this plot twist as the most shocking because of an absurd turn in the storyline that was completely bonkers.
