South Africa v Scotland: Nations Championship rugby – live

68 mins. Hang on though, the defence suddenly opened up for Hiddleston to run through and feed Bayliss to score.

67 mins. This is now over for Scotland. Much is made of the power of South Africa, qnad rightly so, but so much of what is good about them is what you might call micro-disciplines. In contact, in handling, at set piece; they do everything so well, alloyed with that aforementioned power.

66 mins. Scotland are essentially in a vice of the Boks’ making now, with each set piece another turn of the crank. The latest lineout has the home side rapidly into the red zone for sub Porthen to score.

Springboks: Nick Mallett identifies the players for whom Scotland Test will be watershed match

Springboks fly-half Handre Pollard and ex-South Africa head coach Nick Mallett (inset).

Nick Mallett believes there will be some players in the Springboks squad who will be under pressure to shine in Saturday’s Test against Scotland in Pretoria.

After starting their Nations Championship campaign with an impressive 45-21 victory over England in Johannesburg last week, Springboks boss Rassie Erasmus has made 10 changes to his run-on side for the clash against Gregor Townsend’s charges.

That has resulted in several regulars being rested for the Loftus Versfeld showdown while numerous other players will be determined to cement their places in the Boks‘ squad ahead of the eagerly anticipated Greatest Rivalry series against the All Blacks which gets underway in South Africa next month.

'That’s stupid': Scotland captain issues fighting words ahead of Bok clash

SPOTLIGHT: Scotland captain Sione Tuipulotu may have faced the Springboks twice already in his career, but he is under no illusion about the magnitude of Saturday’s Nations Championship clash.

Tuipulotu will lead a strong Scotland side at Loftus Versfeld after head coach Gregor Townsend made just three changes to the team that beat Argentina in Cordoba last week.

It will be the skipper’s first time facing the Boks on African soil, having previously come up against them at the World Cup in 2023 and at Murrayfield in 2024.

Tuipulotu is also familiar with many of the Springbok players through the URC, but believes playing them in South Africa presents an entirely different challenge.

All Blacks v Italy: Nations Championship build-up from Hnry Stadium

All the action as the All Blacks host Italy in the Nations Championship, from Wellington’s Hnry Stadium.

The All Blacks will be looking to continue their positive start under new coach Dave Rennie when they meet Italy for the first time in Wellington.

This is also the first time the team are back playing in Wellington since their humiliating 43-17 loss to the Springboks in September 2025, with their recent record at HNRY Stadium being mixed beyond this.

In their last six fixtures in the capital, including the South Africa result, the All Blacks have three losses, two wins and one draw, but their strong record against Italy should give them plenty of confidence heading into this game.

New Zealand v Italy: Anton Segner to be first German-born All Black

Segner grew up in Frankfurt, but could realise his dream of becoming an All Black in Saturday's match against Italy

Anton Segner will become the first German-born All Black if the uncapped back row comes off the bench in New Zealand's Nations Championship match against Italy on Saturday.

The 24-year-old was born in Frankfurt and developed an obsession with rugby and the All Blacks after being introduced to the sport by two English school friends.

He joined a local club that had New Zealanders as coaches and adopted Kiwi habits, asking his parents to make him pies and performing a haka, learned from YouTube, at a school Christmas concert.

72 min: SA line-out on England’s 22. Marx throws and gets it back. Dixon carries. Wessells does likewise. Porthen makes ground and they have a penalty advantage on the 22. England could be in trouble here.

Not what England needed but there can be no argument! Willemse gathered a high kick and Freeman came screaming up. He never stooped and met Willemse’s head with his shoulder. He might be in trouble here actually. They’ll review. Could be a red. 50/50 for me.

71 min: Freeman melts Willemse but it always looked a touch high. It’s a penalty, but is it also a yellow card?

Siya Kolisi hails 'special human being' Tom Curry and what Springboks learned from World Cup semi-final

Springboks captain Siya Kolisi is looking forward to locking horns with old adversary Tom Curry when they face England in the Nations Championship at Ellis Park.

The two flankers are no strangers to playing on the big stage and both start on the openside for their respective team on Saturday, with Kolisi hugely respectful of Curry.

“He’s one of the toughest guys I’ve ever played against,” he praised.

“I remember since 2018, and then in the 2019 World Cup Final too. He is a special human being, and I love playing against him. Tomorrow’s going to be no different.”

Lila McGuire, 29, and 10-year-old Eloise Hart both portrayed the legendary Australian athlete in the ABC's three-part drama Goolagong, which has been nominated for Best Miniseries/Telemovie.

The pair are among six nominees — including Bundjalung and Lamalama actor Tamala — in the running for the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent.

A stunning victory for Scotland in a thirteen try classic at Murrayfield.

What a game; here’s hoping for something as entertaining in Rome. Follow it with my colleague Dan Gallan here

“Considering how this tournament started all I asked was the boys to believe, and we have put it right. I can’t thank the supporters enough for coming out to see us. We have a changing room that believes in each other; times were tough after the first round in Italy, but we’ve given ourselves a chance next week. Anything is possible, and we know the challenge Ireland is, and it makes for an awesome final week.”

Scotland 50-40 France: Seven-try Scotland deliver performance of the ages to blow Six Nations wide open

Scotland put themselves in contention for a first-ever Six Nations title with a sensational seven-try 50-40 victory over France at Murrayfield.

Les Bleus arrived in Edinburgh knowing a bonus-point win over Gregor Townsend's men would have sealed them a second consecutive championship and teed them up for a first Grand Slam since 2022.

But it was the rampant Scots who produced one of their greatest-ever performances to blow Fabien Galthie's team away.

Wingers Darcy Graham and Kyle Steyn both scored doubles, while Pierre Schoeman, Ben White and substitute Tom Jordan also crossed.

Jamison Gibson-Park led the way for the victors with his kicking and creativity while George Ford’s lack of accuracy was costly

Freddie Steward Showed the type of inaccuracy that will infuriate Steve Borthwick more than once and made little or no impact in attack. 5

Tommy Freeman A couple of decent moments, but like almost everyone else in white, far from his best day. 6

Ollie Lawrence Did his job by bringing power in the carry and clearly positionally superior at No 13 to the Freeman experiment. 6

Fraser Dingwall Took his try well, but a defensive error allowed Doris’s skill to expose him. Another very indifferent day. 5

England vs. Ireland: Make or break Six Nations clash awaits two heavyweights

You have reached ESPN's Australian edition. Stay on current site or go to US version.

Both England and Ireland have had muddled Six Nations campaigns so far.

England went into the championship as one of two favourites to lift the title. All was well in their comfortable dismantling of Wales in round one, but then came the wall of Scottish neurosis as England fell in the Calcutta Cup again to their auld enemy. Only the scrum went well against Scotland last weekend, as their 12-match winning run ended with an abrupt halt.

Crowley gets nod for Irish as Prendergast drops out fo England clash

Jack Crowley will start at fly-half for Ireland's Six Nations match against England at Twickenham on Saturday (local time) with Sam Prendergast, who started both their opening matches, omitted from the matchday 23.

Crowley gets his chance after coach Andy Farrell praised his performance, when he came on for Prendergast last Saturday, and inspired a turnaround, steering the Irish to a 20-13 win over Italy.

Six Nations 2026 predictions: our writers on who will win and why

England have the squad depth, but France have a returning hero and hosting duties for the potentially decisive finale

What are you most looking forward to? Let’s hope it stops raining at some stage. Because if Matthieu Jalibert, Louis Bielle-Biarrey, Henry Arundell, Manny Feyi-Waboso, Louis Rees-Zammit et al have a licence to thrill with a dry ball this could be an eye-catching championship.

Who is going to win and why? France. Three home games, the world’s best player fit again, big forwards, highly promising youngsters, and England haven’t won the title in the season after a British & Irish Lions tour since 1963.

What impact might 'unprecedented' Six Nations schedule have?

England were runners-up in the 2025 Six Nations when France were crowned champions

In a sport which is often changing, the Six Nations is usually left well alone.

While the authorities tinker with laws and competitions, they dare not meddle with the famous old Championship.

February and March, every year. Since 2000, the same six teams. And any talk of promotion and relegation, or expansion, is just that – talk. The Six Nations is brilliantly enduring and enduringly brilliant.

Not just because of a Thursday night start for the first time, but in an unprecedented move the tournament will be played over just six weeks rather than seven, with only one rest weekend between rounds three and four. There will be three back-to-back games at the start.

How and when to watch the Six Nations rugby for free on French TV

The 2026 Six Nations rugby championship runs from February 5 until March 14, and all the matches will be shown on French TV.

Defending champions France will be looking to retain their title this year, facing Ireland for the opening match at the Stade de France in Paris, kicking-off at 21:10.

Teams will then travel between Rome, London, Dublin, Edinburgh and Cardiff, with one match (France-Italy) scheduled to take place at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Lille.

This year, the competition is set to take place over a reduced timeframe with just one ‘rest week’ after round three, and no ‘rest week’ after round two.

61 min: Benin finally have a chance to wheel the ball around … before Ouorou miscues horribly on the right wing.

59 min: Time for some tweaks. Ashour replaces Trézéguet and Zizo replaces Ibrahim Adel.

55 min: Nearly for Egypt. The ball breaks for Rabia in the six-yard box, he slams in a strike but Dandjinou makes himself massive; the ball then deflects off Ouorou, on the line, leading to another Egypt corner. Somehow Benin survive.

54 min: Salah slides in a pass for Hany to latch on to, and the right wing-back wins a corner for Egypt.

Egypt vs Benin live updates: AFCON 2025 latest score with match goalless after fine Dandjinou save

Mohamed Salah's Egypt are battling Benin in the AFCON 2025 round of 16 in Agadir today.

Forward Omar Marmoush wasted a one-on-one opportunity before his poke was cleared off the line.

Egypt defender Mohamed Hamdy was carried off on a stretcher after appearing to suffer a knee injury.

In the second half, Marcel Dandjinou made a superb save to deny Ramy Rabia from very close range.

Benin have marked him tightly and aggressively, and even though he is not having his best game, he has still managed to play some lovely through balls in this first hour of the game.

And it is sparked by another injury as Trezeguet limps off. Joining him in heading off is Ibrahim Adel.
