AFL LIVE: ‘Tell me about it’ – Neale admits how difficult leaving the Lions would be as Pies prepare for wildcard round

Collingwood coach Craig McRae admits Scott Pendlebury’s availability for the wildcard game next week is uncertain.

McRae said Pendlebury would have scans for the knee bursa issue that forced him off the ground in the first half, but he also revealed the issue could be hamstring-related.

“We had some precautionary action around some tightness in his knee that could be hamstring-related,” McRae said.

“It’s on the minor side but if there is something there, then a scan will show that.

Lions superstar Lachie Neale has praised his young teammates and declared it is an “exciting time to be Lion”, but still appears set to leave the club at the end of the season.

‘Tell me about it…’: Star’s telling call on AFL future as Pies coach delivers Neale answer

Lachie Neale knows how hard it would be to leave a perpetually-contending Brisbane this offseason.

But up against Collingwood — heavily favoured to land his signature this October — on Friday night, he showed exactly why the club has pursued him so feverishly.

Fagan responds to Neale's Magpies meeting

Brisbane coach Chris Fagan addresses Lachie Neale's meeting with Collingwood last week

CHRIS Fagan says he hasn't lost any sleep over Lachie Neale's decision to tour Collingwood's facilities last week, but conceded he would have preferred it happened after the Lions played Carlton, not before.

Brisbane's two-time Brownlow Medal winner was taken through the Magpies home base last Friday, just 24 hours out from his team's date with the Blues at Marvel Stadium.

Following revelations of Neale's tour, and the Lions' subsequent 76-point loss, former players and pundits criticised the timing of the free agent's visit to a rival club.

Speaking ahead of his team's crucial match against Hawthorn on Friday night, Fagan said it was something the industry had to get used to.

Brisbane Lions coach Chris Fagan says it would have been nice for Lachie Neale to tell him of his tour of a rival club’s headquarters.

Dual Brownlow medallist Neale visited Collingwood’s base last Friday, a day before Brisbane crashed to a 76-point loss to Carlton.

Neale, widely expected to leave the Lions and join the Magpies at the end of this season, didn’t tell Fagan of his plans.

“He hadn’t spoken to me about it, so I wasn’t aware,” Fagan said.

Tess Crosley makes glamorous public appearance after Lachie Neale debuts new relationship

Tess Crosley has made a glamorous appearance at a Brisbane theatre, just days after Lachie Neale debuted his rumoured new romance.

Crosley, 30, stepped out for the opening night of The Book of Mormon, in a sequinned leopard-print dress with black lace detailing.

In a carousel of images from the night out, Crosley, who grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, blew a kiss to the camera while posing at the photo wall.

It marked her first major outing since becoming embroiled in the marriage breakdown of AFL star Neale, 33, and Crosley’s former friend, Jules Neale.

‘We want to get better’: Magpies star comments on Neale visit

Injured Collingwood forward Jamie Elliott has commented on the club’s pursuit of Brisbane Lions star Lachie Neale.

SEN's Tom Morris (see full story below) reported on the weekend that Neale was at the KGM Centre last Friday to tour the Magpies’ facilities.

Elliott says the club is all about getting better, so if they have to look at top players from rival clubs then that’s what they’ll do.

“We run the motto of ‘we want to get better’, so if that’s looking at players that can make us better in any regard then obviously we want to look at those players,” Elliott said on SEN Breakfast.

There are two reasons to explain why the Saints dropped out of the race for Lachie Neale

St Kilda coach Ross Lyon’s early declaration on Saturday that his club would not pursue Brisbane’s unrestricted free agent Lachie Neale because they are “not in a position to do it with our young midfield and what we are trying to do and commit and sign” can be interpreted in different ways.

The most obvious one is the Saints growing confidence in their relatively young midfield, with 24-year-old Max Hall, Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera, 23, Hugo Garcia, 21, and 20-year-old Darcy Wilson developing well in that key part of the ground.

The out-of-contract Wilson is, like Wanganeen-Milera last year, driving his price up every week as he produces a consistent season after an up-and-down 2025 where he played VFL and wondered whether St Kilda was the club for him to flourish.

‘Something we could’ve pursued’: Neale suitor ‘out’ as details of crunch meeting revealed

Plus Craig McRae isn’t the only senior coach that’s seen “better technology” for score reviews. A tech company pitched to the AFL for its cameras to overhaul the current system. Read on in AFL Daily.

St Kilda is officially out of the race for Lachie Neale.

Ross Lyon revealed the club was no longer pursuing the star Lions free agent after their meeting last week, as the Saints prioritise retaining their young stars.

As Hamish McLachlan says, closing out the service, Daniher “changed the way many of us look at the world and the cards we’ve been dealt” with “his hope, his humour, his heart”.

“He never asked us to feel sorry for him. He just asked us to fight alongside of him. And the country picked up a beanie and answered collectively. We are a better community because of you.

Neale Daniher remembered as 'a hero' at MCG state funeral

A state funeral is underway at the MCG for AFL/VFL legend and motor neurone disease campaigner Neale Daniher.

The former Australian and Victorian of the Year died just over a fortnight ago.

Family, friends, members of the AFL community and dignitaries are attending the service just days after a record-breaking Big Freeze fundraiser for his charity, FightMND.

Neale Daniher has been remembered as a football legend, a devoted father and a "hero" at a state funeral at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The former footballer, coach, Australian and Victorian of the Year, and motor neurone disease (MND) campaigner died at his home in Melbourne on May 25 at the age of 65.

Collingwood 'very keen' to lure premiership Lion this offseason

The AFL season is barely midway through, but trade talk is already beginning to start with Collingwood, as always, front and center.

Given the season is slipping away for the Pies after their loss to Melbourne in the King's birthday clash, some think the club is now already looking ahead to the offseason and how to strengthen their list.

We know that a key forward is what the Pies desperately need, with the forward line struggling to kick big scores regularly.

But that isn't the only area of need the Pies are reportedly interested in reinforcing.
