‘Can never say we’re done’: WiseTech signals more AI job losses are coming

WiseTech Global will cut more jobs as artificial intelligence takes over more of its work, chief executive Zubin Appoo has flagged, and he says the cuts will not stop when the current program ends.

“We can never say that we’re done,” Appoo said on Wednesday, hours after the embattled logistics software company posted an 11 per cent fall in annual profit and its shares dropped more than 7 per cent.

About 1200 of the 2000 roles announced in February have gone. Appoo said most of the rest would come from exiting large parts of the professional services arm of e2open, the US company WiseTech bought last year for $US3.2 billion, and shifting that work to partner firms.

WiseTech chief stands by pricing shift, redundancies as profit slides

WiseTech Global chief executive Zubin Appoo has stood by a controversial decision to shake up the way it charges customers as he confirmed 1700 jobs cuts have now been made under an AI-driven cost-saving program announced earlier this year.

An Australian technology company has stood behind cutting 1700 jobs in favour of artificial intelligence, as it raked in record annual revenue.

Logistics software provider WiseTech Global's total income surged 79 per cent to $US1.4 billion ($A19.5 billion) in the year to June 30, supported by its buyout of Texas-headquartered supply chain player e2open.

The acquisition helped deliver $64 million in annualised operating profit savings, while its artificial intelligence transformation had cut $34 million from the balance sheet, chief executive Zubin Appoo said.

Bryn Skyes is 16 years old. He loves playing in the water on hot Ipswich days, going through the car wash with his mum and zooming down slides with his siblings.

He has also never eaten food. Bryn’s disability and gastrointestinal problems mean that he has been tube-fed since infancy.

For most of his life, the costs of Bryn’s food and feeding system have been covered by the Queensland children’s hospital but, as the process of transitioning him out of paediatric care begins, his mother, Shelley McRae, is worried changes to the NDIS mean she will be left to find an extra $50,000 a year to keep him alive.

Without self-imposed discipline, the red numbers will continue, especially as Labor continues to seek and spend money it does not have. And boasting about it.

Just over five years ago, the alarm bells first rang regarding the cost of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

It was a week before the 2021 May budget and then-prime minister Scott Morrison revealed the scheme would have to be topped up by an additional $13.2 billion over the next four years, just to keep up with demand.

‘Good times never felt so good’: First look at Neil Diamond musical rehearsals

Will Swenson has been preparing to play Neil Diamond almost his entire life. “I listened to him so much as a kid, and I was playing Neil Diamond songs on the guitar when I was in eighth grade,” he says.

So playing a young Neil in A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical is a dream come true for the Broadway star. Opening early next month, the show traces the shy Jewish kid from Brooklyn’s journey to becoming a hit-making machine with sold-out concerts around the world and 140 million album sales to his name.

Like Diamond, Swenson is a baritone, so he nailed a nifty impression of the artist who penned countless hits, from singalong anthem Sweet Caroline to the number-one hit Cracklin’ Rosie.

Video: Watch the Final 'Sweet Caroline' From A BEAUTIFUL NOISE First National Tour

A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical officially closed its First National Tour in Kansas City, MO. The production posted a video of the final "Sweet Caroline", featuring Nick Fradiani as Neil Diamond, on their social media. Check out the video!

Plus, read the reviews for the tour of A Beautiful Noise here.

Nick Fradiani plays ‘Neil Diamond – Then’ in the national tour directly from playing the role on Broadway since October 2023. He won the title of “American Idol” in 2015 and has since released his debut album “Hurricane” in 2016, featuring the hit single “Beautiful Life.” “Past My Past,” Fradiani’s second solo album, was released in 2022. Joining Fradiani is Tony Nominee Robert Westenberg (Neil Diamond – Now), Hannah Jewel Kohn (Marcia Murphey), Lisa Reneé Pitts (Doctor), Michael Accardo (Bert Berns/ Kieve Diamond), Tuck Milligan (Fred Weintraub/ Tommy O'Rourke), Kate A. Mulligan (Ellie Greenwich/ Rose Diamond) and Tiffany Tatreau (Jaye Posner).

    Theater Review: "A Beautiful Noise"

To say Neil Diamond was important in our house when I was growing up is an understatement.  My mother, Rose, was, and still is, quite possibly his biggest fan.  She maintained that the song “Cracklin’ Rosie” was about her.  She would pay A LOT  of money every time Diamond came to Chicago so she could be in the front row.  She made him shirts, which she had sent backstage.  Let me put it this way:  I lived in Baltimore for thirteen years.  She came out to visit me twice, coincidentally at the same time Diamond was in the area.  In 1994 she called me all excited.  “Did you hear,” she asked, “Neil and Marsha are getting divorced.”  I asked who Neil and Marsha were and she replied “Neil Diamond.”  I asked, “Mom, did he ask you to marry him?”  “No.”  “Maybe next time.”

Here's why Mexico's Raúl Jiménez wears a custom headband during World Cup

MEXICO CITY — Raúl Jiménez has scored two goals for Mexico in the 2026 World Cup so far, and he's done it while wearing a unique piece of equipment.

The Mexican forward has been wearing a custom, medically-approved protective head guard for the past five years and will continue to do so for the remainder of his career.

On November 29, 2020, Jiménez suffered a catastrophic head injury while playing for Wolverhampton in a Premier League match against Arsenal. Jiménez clashed head-on with Arsenal defender David Luiz and was knocked unconscious.

Jiménez was immediately rushed to St. Mary’s hospital in London to receive emergency medical care. The collision resulted in a fractured skull and a brain injury that almost ended his life. Eight months of recovery later, Jiménez returned to the pitch in August 2021.

Why Raúl Jiménez wears a protective patch on his head at the 2026 World Cup

Raul Jimenez is getting ready for the biggest game of his life tonight as Mexico takes on England in the round of 16, but he was close to losing it all.

The Mexican national team is currently in the midst of a dream run through the World Cup on their home soil. The final goal is still a long way away but for Raul Jimenez being back on the pitch, representing his country is a dream in itself after almost being forced into an early retirement.

Back in November of 2020, Wolverhampton was playing Arsenal in a Premier League match at the Emirates. Wolves won a corner kick that changed the life of the Mexican striker forever. He clashed heads with then Arsenal defender David Luiz and immediately lost consciousness.

Cameron Ciraldo hit the open market after taking over in 2023, joining football boss Phil Gould as the pair underwent a roster rebuild.

They had landed some marquee signings in Viliame Kikau, Reed Mahoney and Stephen Crichton, but it was their versatile recruits that caught the most attention.

Connor Tracey, Jaeman Salmon, Josh Curran, Kurt Mann, Blake Taaffe and Drew Hutchison all joined the club for 2024. Puzzling, right?

Hard hitters and hard runners: Harry channels Dogs of War

The dominance of Canterbury’s forward pack against Penrith last round struck a chord close to the heart of Bulldogs second-rower Harry Hayes.

The work of Max King, Sitili Tupouniua, Sam Hughes and Jacob Preston to batter the Panthers into submission drew comparisons to the legendary Dogs of War of yesteryear.

“We’ve seen videos and reputations of the past and we’re trying to create our own present and future,” Hayes told NRL.com.

“I guess we take the lessons from those guys who were just hard hitters and hard runners.

“My grandfather was back there in the ‘60s so there’s definitely inspiration there.”

‘I’ve never cried so much in my life’: Robert Irwin plans his next steps

He’s come down to earth after Dancing with the Stars, but the Australian star now has big plans for his future.

Robert Irwin is hot property. Just ask the record number of viewers who tuned in and voted for him on Dancing with the Stars in the US. Or the millions of fans on TikTok who have been watching him, on repeat, rip his shirt off.

Even a friend of mine – not given to hyperbole – gasps when I mention his name, and then admits that an older woman in her office is “obsessed” with him, too. “We bought her a Robert Irwin calendar for Christmas,” she admits.

If he never returns, Terence Crawford’s legacy as one of boxing’s greats is secure | Bryan Armen Graham

The ring’s standout problem-solver steps away from ‘competition’ on his own terms and with an unblemished record across five divisions

Terence “Bud” Crawford has always fought like a man who wanted to leave no room for argument. Not simply to win, but to win so cleanly that dissent collapses on contact. So his retirement announcement on Tuesday didn’t feel like a sudden fade-out so much as the closing of a file: tidy, decisive, signed in his own hand. Three months after scaling two weight divisions to outclass Canelo Álvarez in Las Vegas and become the undisputed super-middleweight champion, Crawford says he is stepping away “on his own terms”. In the cruellest sport, that is rarer than a perfect record.

Undefeated, five-division world champion Terence Crawford has announced his retirement at 38.

Crawford is fresh off a remarkable victory over Canelo Alvarez in September and retires with a 42-0 record.

The American has not closed the door on a potential return but says he is "walking away with nothing else to prove".

Legendary American boxer Terence Crawford has announced his immediate retirement from the sport at age 38.

Crawford, a world champion in five different weight divisions, hangs up the gloves with a perfect 42-0 record.

His last fight was one of his best, as Crawford became the undisputed super middleweight champion courtesy of a brilliant unanimous decision victory over Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez in September.

After Joshua, Paul interested in UFC's Pereira

When Jake Paul's fight with Gervonta "Tank" Davis was canceled after the WBA lightweight champion's latest legal issues surfaced, the social media influencer-turned-boxer was determined to secure a new opponent before the end of 2025.

Several potential opponents were reportedly in play, but Paul landed on a fight with former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, and the two will meet Friday at Kaseya Center in Miami, live on Netflix.

"I didn't expect the fight with Joshua to happen this year," Paul told ESPN about his selection process. "But the plan was always to fight Gervonta Davis and then Anthony Joshua, so we bumped it up ahead of schedule."
