After 25 years I would have like to have seen a transitional arrangement in place where Hawthorn could have played maybe one, maybe two games here in Launceston just to maintain that continuity of the relationship.
If this had been approached properly, in my view, then I think that they [state government and council] could have changed the AFL Commission's view. The reason I say that is for 30 years we were unable to get a commitment from the AFL to have our own team. When I was premier we managed to change that, and so the AFL can be convinced if arguments are put to it appropriately.
