Prince Harry, Elton John and other celebrities have been ordered to pay an initial 9.54 million British pounds ($17.88 million) in legal costs to the Daily Mail's publisher.

Associated Newspapers called the ruling "another overwhelming victory for the Mail and its journalism".

Prince Harry, Elton John and a group of other high-profile claimants face the prospect of having to pay millions of pounds out of their own pockets to cover the legal costs of The Daily Mail's publisher, after a High Court judge ruled their failed privacy lawsuits were conducted in an unreasonable way.

Prince Harry and six other public figures face paying up to £34.5m to the publisher of the Daily Mail after a High Court judge imposed an exceptional order for legal costs over their failed privacy case.

The seven claimants, also including Sir Elton John and Liz Hurley, must pay an initial £9.54m by Friday of next week to Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL).

The judge ruled that the case was a rare one in which the claimants should have to pay far in excess of the costs that had been agreed before trial, criticising how they presented their claims as "unreasonable to a high degree".

Prince Harry, celebrities ordered to pay $18m – but final court bill could be higher

Prince Harry has been ordered to pay a steep legal bill for his failed court case against a major publisher after a court ruled that he and his fellow claimants owed £9.54 million ($18.1 million) in legal costs.

The court ruling exposes Harry and others, including rock star Elton John and model Elizabeth Hurley, to even greater costs after a judge dismissed their long-running claim against the Daily Mail earlier this year.

They must pay the first sum by August 28 and face a difficult legal argument over the remainder of the costs, given the Mail’s publisher won the case and wants the prince and others to cover its costs.

Growing up in a cycling-obsessed family, McCaig has ascended quickly through the junior ranks, debuting at the Commonwealth Games in 2022 as the youngest cyclist on the Australian team. She heads to Glasgow as Australia’s reigning national champion in the sprint and keirin.

Kristina Clonan is one of Australia's leading track sprinters and a reigning Commonwealth Games gold medallist. Originally an endurance rider, Clonan switched to sprinting after missing selection for the Tokyo Olympic Games. The move was transformative, with Clonan going on to win multiple national sprint titles and gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, breaking the Games record in the 500m time trial previously held by Anna Meares. After missing much of the 2025 season through injury, Clonan heads to Glasgow determined to defend her title.

‘Stargate’ TV Series From Martin Gero Based On Sci-Fi Franchise Ordered By Amazon

Amazon MGM Studios has greenlighted another series based on popular MGM IP, giving a series order to Stargate for Prime Video. The new installment in the classic sci-fi franchise comes from Martin Gero, a Stargate veteran and veteran showrunner who created NBC’s Blindspot.

Stargate was among the first MGM titles identified for series or film adaptations following Amazon’s $8.5B acquisition of the storied Hollywood studio in 2022. The series pickup follows series orders for Elle, a Legally Blonde prequel series from the film franchise’s star Reese Witherspoon; Tomb Raider, headlined by Sophie Turner; and Barbershop, starring Jermaine Fowler, based on the MGM movies. Other series, such as Poltergeist, are in development.
