    Cash on offer to convince organisers to keep MotoGP on Phillip Island

    The Victorian government has offered additional funding to keep the Australian round of MotoGP on Phillip Island.

    The contract for the motorcycle grand prix at the Phillip Island track is set to expire this year.

    It is not clear if event organiser MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group will accept the Victorian government's financial offer.

    Chinese star takes swipe at organisers for not accommodating her schedule

    Chinese skiing superstar Eileen Gu says she is "disappointed" and "saddened" that Winter Olympics organisers scheduled halfpipe training at the same time as her big air final at the MIlano Cortina Games.

    Gu is competing in women's freeski slopestyle, big air and halfpipe and said she "should not be penalised" for "daring to be the only woman to compete in three events".

    "I have asked for fair options like joining one training with the snowboarders, or getting even one hour alone to train, but to no avail," she wrote on Instagram.

    Defending Olympic champ Gu into big air final in freestyle skiing

    LIVIGNO, Italy — Defending gold medalist Eileen Gu qualified for the women's big air final in freestyle skiing at the Milan Cortina Olympics on Saturday night, shaking off a fall and landing her last jump.

    Gu nailed her first jump but then crashed on her second run, making it essential for her to stay upright on her third and final attempt.

    In qualifying, skiers must land two jumps, and the scores from those are combined to determine their position. The top 12 riders advanced to Monday's final.
