MIAMI — Inter Miami managing owner Jorge Mas cut a ribbon atop the steps of Nu Stadium in front of fans, alongside brother Jose Mas and Sir David Beckham.

“This is our gift to you, Miami,” Jorge Mas said to fans as the stadium finally opened before the inaugural match against Austin FC on Saturday, April 4.

Lionel Messi is expected to play to debut the new MLS venue.

“Honestly, it’s spectacular getting to see the new home. The new stadium turned out incredible, and it’s really special to be able to experience it. We’ve been eager to play there, to make our debut, to finally be competing there officially, and now the moment has arrived,” Messi said after Friday’s practice.

Traffic alert: ‘Major delays' around Nu Stadium for Inter Miami inaugural match

Drama at NU stadium in this the 11th hour, before game night. The city and the team are still working to secure a temporary certificate of occupancy. NBC6’s Steve Litz reports

Miami Police are warning drivers to plan ahead due to "major delays" around Nu Stadium before and after Inter Miami's match on Saturday.

They advised the most congested traffic times will be before the match from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and post-match from 9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Miami International Airport officials are also advising travelers and visitors to plan and allow extra time due to the traffic around the stadium.

West Coast’s glut of A-grade young talent has turned last year’s wooden spooners into a destination club again, but Sydney coach Dean Cox has a simple plan to ensure the rising Eagles don’t nab Chad Warner.

Warner is back in his home state of Western Australia ahead of Saturday’s AFL clash with the Eagles at Optus Stadium.

The 24-year-old turned down significant offers from both West Coast and Fremantle before re-signing with the Swans last year on a deal that runs until 2027.

The Dockers might now struggle to fit Warner into their salary cap given their star-studded list, but the Eagles appear perfectly placed to launch another bid on the gun midfielder at the end of this season or next.

Gorillaz No Longer Have Any Interest ‘Whatsoever’ In Making A Full-Length Movie

Back in February, Gorillaz released a short film to accompany their new album, The Mountain. It was cool, but fans have long wondered about a full-length movie starring the virtual band members. One was in the works a few years ago, although it was eventually scrapped. Now, the band says they’re no longer interested in the idea at all, and that it was their idea to ditch the project.

In an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Jamie Hewlett explained:

“If we’d done a movie 25 years ago, fine, but the idea of doing a movie now… it just doesn’t have… no interest in it whatsoever. No interest. It’s not an interesting idea, it’s not an original idea. We had this moment with Netflix where we were literally told, ‘You can do whatever you want and we’ll give you as much money [as you want],’ and we’re like, ‘OK, great,’ and we had some brilliant ideas, but it was just moving so slow, and the guy we were working with just left, and they said, ‘Don’t worry, we’ll find someone else,’ and it’s like, OK, there’s going to be another year of conversations before this starts again. So we pulled out.”

China has unveiled its Five-Year Plan to achieve global dominance in technology and AI industries and outcompete the United States.

It aims to integrate AI into 90 per cent of the country's economy by 2030, and to stop relying on the US for advanced semiconductor chips.

The strategy also includes keeping AI models open-source to promote entrepreneurship and development.

China has just unveiled a new blueprint to achieve technological and AI world dominance by 2030.

The plan focuses on propelling China to the forefront in everything from humanoid robots and AI operating systems in the workforce, through to brain-computer interfaces and flying cars.

Italy captain Wayne Madsen has said that the narrowing margins of T20 cricket offer his side a cause of optimism as they prepare to face Nepal on Thursday, drawing inspiration from the way associate teams have pushed top-ranked sides, including Nepal who ran England close, earlier in the tournament.

"We all know that T20 brings the competition levels a lot closer together and it takes one or two special performances from a couple of players in a team to win a game," Madsen said. "We can take a lot of confidence from having watched the Nepal-England game, but also the other games. USA played really well against India first game, and likewise the Netherlands against Pakistan.

Details of new $4 billion plan revealed for some kids with autism

The federal government has released the model for its Thriving Kids program, aimed at setting up services and supports run by states and territories outside the NDIS.

The model centres on key areas including identifying children with developmental delay or autism, connecting them with information and supports, and building the skills of parents.

Thriving Kids will start in October this year, before ramping up to full implementation by January 2028.

After months of uncertainty and speculation, the federal government has revealed how its National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) alternative for some children under nine will work.

The government has released the Thriving Kids Advisory Group report, which has proposed a model of care for the program which will aim to move children with low to moderate support needs across from the ballooning NDIS.

After agreement at national cabinet, the government has promised to commit $2bn with the states and territories to also commit $2bn. The program will be aimed at children under the age of nine with developmental delay and/or autism, with low to moderate support needs.

Children won’t need an autism diagnosis to use Thriving Kids scheme

Parents will no longer have to spend thousands of dollars and dozens of hours chasing autism diagnoses for their struggling children to qualify for government disability support under the new Thriving Kids program, which will help children with lower support needs outside the NDIS.

After federal and state governments last week signed a long-awaited health and disability funding deal, Health and Disability Minister Mark Butler on Tuesday unveiled the model for Thriving Kids and revealed it would mainly be run through states and territories.

The Albanese government rebuffed a suggestion from its advisory group that children access therapies through new Medicare plans, and will instead give states money to run the scheme their own way. “We won’t be funding services directly. We’ll be providing that money to states,” Butler said.

The Perth Wildcats go into Sunday's blockbuster matchup with Adelaide having lost three of their past five matches.
