Strauchanie sets his sights on the NFL with Carlton Dry’s ‘It’s Still Footy’ campaign

And while Strauchanie attempts to secure his own place at the MCG between the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams, Carlton Dry is giving two Aussie footy fans and their mate a guaranteed way in, with two double passes to the historic game up for grabs.

While AFL and NFL traditionally take place on opposite sides of the globe, Carlton Dry believes the feeling, mateship and passion across both codes are much the same. For Strauchanie, however, the similarities go much further.

After his AFL career didn’t quite reach the heights he expected, Australia’s self-appointed footy superstar has decided the NFL could finally be his opportunity to make it to the big league. With the confidence of a seasoned professional and the ability of, well, Strauchanie, he is determined to prove that making the switch is easier than everyone thinks.

Coalition plan to scrap energy rules for new houses condemned as ‘cost-of-living timebomb’

Proposal to cut building costs by scrapping the construction code would increase bills for the poorest households, critics say

A Coalition plan to abolish compulsory energy standards for new homes that help reduce people’s exposure to heat and cold has been criticised by advocates as a “cost-of-living timebomb” that would deepen inequality.

The opposition’s housing and environment spokesperson, Andrew Bragg, said a Coalition government would cut the National Construction Code from more than 2,000 pages to 80, and strip away all requirements for new homes beyond demanding they were “basic and safe”. Longstanding compulsory energy and accessibility measures would become “optional extras”.

Liberals pour cold water on frontbencher's migration comments

Andrew Bragg addressed the National Press Club on Wednesday, covering a variety of topics. (ABC News: Matt Roberts)

Coalition colleagues say Andrew Bragg's suggestion that net migration cuts could be achieved by targeting backpackers and graduated students is not an agreed opposition policy.

In a wideranging speech, the Liberal frontbencher also called compulsory superannuation "a loss of liberty" and that large tech companies should be taxed more.

One Nation leader Pauline Hanson has also been unclear about whether she has a target for net migration.

A Liberal frontbencher's suggestion that net migration under 180,000 is "achievable" with cuts to backpackers and international students is unauthorised and does not reflect an agreed position of Angus Taylor's shadow cabinet.

How to earn 6% interest with ING Savings Booster (and what’s the catch?)

ING has often led the market with some of the highest interest rates on savings accounts available, and it's in the top spot again with Savings Booster – its "biggest change to savings products in 18 years".

There are no other mainstream savings accounts on the market right now offering a 6% return, though many hover nearby in the high 5s.

So how does ING's new Savings Booster work – and is there a catch?

The headline-grabbing 6% rate is a great bonus if you're new to ING.

But it's the ongoing rate of up to 5.40% p.a. that really stands out. It's among the highest savings rates on the market, and the conditions are relatively easy to meet.

ING launches new 6 per cent savings account in biggest change in 18 years: 'Market leading'

Popular bank ING has launched a new flagship savings account for Aussies. ING's Savings Maximiser account has become hugely popular amongst Aussie savers thanks to the Barefoot Investor, but the bank's newest account promises an even higher, "market leading" interest rate.

With ING's new Savings Booster, customers can earn up to 6 per cent interest for the first four months when they grow their balance by $100 or more each month. The ongoing rate then drops to 5.4 per cent after the introductory period, provided they still meet bonus conditions.

Canstar data insights director Sally Tindall told Yahoo Finance the 6 per cent introductory rate would "turn heads" and was the highest savings rate on the comparison site's database.

Hegseth unveils plan to screen troops for low testosterone

Pete Hegseth says he is rolling out a screening program to detect “testosterone deficiency” among troops. (AP: Jacquelyn Martin)

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has announced that troops over 30 will be screened for testosterone deficiency.

The Pentagon says the policy aims to address the rigours of the modern battlefield.

The program has drawn criticism from Democratic politicians, one of whom said it proved Hegseth was taking cues from "the far corners of the manosphere”.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has announced a new testosterone screening program that he says will help troops operate at their "absolute best".

Troops under 30 will be able to volunteer for testosterone testing and service members above that age will undergo compulsory screening as part of their annual medical review.

"High-T Department": Hegseth approves testosterone screening in military

Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has announced that military personnel aged 30 and older will undergo testing for testosterone deficiency as part of annual health screenings.

In a video posted on X, captioned "High-T Department", Hegseth said he was authorising the screening programme for troops to ensure "you have the right testosterone levels to operate at your absolute best".

Troops with low testosterone levels will be offered voluntary hormone replacement therapy. The tests will be optional for those younger than 30.

Hegseth did not specify whether the screening would apply to women, whose testosterone levels also decline as they age.

"We owe our warriors the absolute best medical care in the world, and this programme delivers on that obligation," Hegseth said in Wednesday's video.

US defense secretary unveils plan that will work to ensure service members have the ‘right testosterone levels’

Pete Hegseth announced Wednesday that the Department of Defense will offer testosterone deficiency screening for soldiers 30 and older.

The US defense secretary unveiled plans for a new screening program for testosterone deficiency among troops that will work to ensure service members have the “right testosterone levels” to perform at their optimal condition in a video posted to X.

“I’m authorizing a new screening program for testosterone deficiency for our service members, ensuring you have the right testosterone levels to operate at your absolute best,” Hegseth said in the video.

‘No Plan B’: Brailey’s three-week race to overcome ‘impossible’ setback; Blues to unleash bash brothers

The Melbourne Storm have responded to comments from legendary NSW coach Phil Gould, which lit the fuse for this year’s Origin decider, labelling Queensland hooker Harry Grant a “cheat”.

Grant’s in-game antics had already caught the attention of NSW players, with the Storm superstar constantly seen speaking to referee Ashley Klein in Game 2 at the MCG.

It is nothing new for Grant, who also found himself in the spotlight after Penrith skipper Nathan Cleary accused him of “playing” for a penalty in Melbourne’s golden point win.

Blayke Brailey shoved his broken arm back into place. Now he can’t even look at the scar

For a man who shoved his broken wrist back into place – twice – Blayke Brailey is surprisingly squeamish about the eight-centimetre scar left behind.

“I can’t even look at it,” the Sharks skipper and Blues bench hooker says.

“I get queasy about blood and those sorts of things. Even a scar like this, I don’t like looking at it.”

Brailey can appreciate how weird it sounds. He shocked Cronulla’s medical staff when, as he was walking from the field, he pushed a bone back into place after an awkward tackle on Manly’s Jason Saab a month ago.

No Way? No Worries: Behind Blayke Brailey’s stunning Origin comeback

For a brief moment, Blayke Brailey had finally reached rugby league's biggest stage.

Two days later, he feared it had all been ripped away.

The Sharks hooker had barely begun to soak in the emotion of his State of Origin debut before a devastating broken forearm against Manly threatened to end his series.

Instead, Brailey produced one of the fastest recoveries of the year, returning in just three weeks to keep his Origin dream alive before earning another phone call from Blues coach Laurie Daley.

Speaking to Zero Tackle, Brailey admitted that being forced to watch from the sidelines after his dream debut was gruelling.

Live updates: Iran and US make ‘encouraging progress’ in crucial talks, mediators say

Discussions were conducted in a "positive and constructive atmosphere," Qatar and Pakistan said. Talks had looked shaky after Trump's comments angered the Iranian delegation and stalled talks.

    • Switzerland talks: Recently concluded talks between the US and Iran were “positive and constructive” according to mediators Qatar and Pakistan. A High Level Committee to oversee mediation and a “line of communication” for the Strait of Hormuz are being set up, mediators said. Technical talks will continue this week in Switzerland.

    • Tense moments: Talks had previously stalled when President Donald Trump angered Iran’s top negotiator by threatening the Tehran delegation. Trump told Fox News the US could resume bombing Iran and “take over” the Strait of Hormuz if a deal is not reached.

US-Iran negotiations end, technical talks will continue after Trump shakes talks with threats

A team led by U.S. Vice President JD Vance is to meet with Iranian negotiators led by parliamentary Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi for talks on Tehran’s nuclear program as part of a fragile deal to end the Iran war.

U.S. Vice President JD Vance said Sunday there was an opportunity to “turn over a new leaf” with Iran as the sides held talks aimed at building out the interim deal to end the war in Iran reached by the two sides last week. But even as Vance called on Tehran to build on the moment, President Donald Trump threatened to restart strikes on Iran for its support of Hezbollah militants in Lebanon or if it moved to close the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

A plan to build a Trump Tower at Surfers Paradise has fallen through.

The Trump Organization has removed the project from its website, while the developer says the brand is "toxic".

Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate says the deal was likely abandoned for financial reasons.

Plans for a $1.5 billion Trump Tower on the Gold Coast have been scrapped less than three months after the deal was made.

The 91-storey, branded tower was announced on social media in late February by Eric Trump, US President Donald Trump's second son.

Plans for $1.5b luxury Trump Tower on Gold Coast axed, developer confirms

Controversial plans for a $1.5 billion Trump Tower on the Gold Coast have been scrapped less than three months after a deal was signed.

The 285-room luxury hotel proposed for Surfers Paradise would have been Australia’s tallest building, soaring 91 storeys above the glitter strip.

Altus Property Group chief executive and founder David Young rebuffed claims the Trump Organisation had pulled out of the project because the development company had not met its obligations.

“Let’s just say that with the Iran war and everything else, the Trump brand was increasingly toxic in Australia,” Young said in a statement.

“Some time ago we knew it was time to part company.

Ford’s New EV Plan Already Doomed

The analyst who called NVIDIA in 2010 just named his top 10 stocks and Ford wasn't one of them. Get them here FREE.

The Wall Street Journal asked Hyundai Motor CEO José Muñoz if American car companies can make EVs to compete with Chinese ones. “It is impossible, unless they are subsidized by the government,” he said. The chances that the US government will do that are zero. It would have to hand out billions of dollars like it was candy. A new Wall Street Journal profile of Ford’s semi-secret EV project shows that Muñoz is absolutely correct.

The Ford (NYSE: F) plan is yet another blunder by CEO Jim Farley, who has led Ford through failed EV projects since his company said in 2021 that the No. 2 car company would invest $20 billion by the end of 2025. The goal was to reach 40% of Ford's sales from EVs by 2030. Farlay said when the plan was announced, “This is our biggest opportunity for growth and value creation since Henry Ford started to scale the Model T, and we’re grabbing it with both hands."
