    A man has been shot and killed in Melbourne's north overnight.

    Emergency services were called to reports of a man being shot at Mahoneys Road, Reservoir about 11:50pm.

    Victoria Police said the death of the 55-year-old Richmond man was being treated as suspicious.

    Police have set up a crime scene and homicide detectives are investigating whether the shooting was a targeted incident.

    A short time after the shooting, a vehicle was found burnt out in Robinvale Avenue in Thomastown.

    Man shot dead in north Melbourne

    Melbourne police have not ruled out the deadly shooting of a man in the city’s north of being a “targeted” attack.

    A suspect remains on the run early Wednesday and a crime scene remains in place at Mahoneys Road in Reservoir where the unidentified victim was gunned down outside his home.

    Events began at 11.50pm on Tuesday when emergency services received reports of a shooting.

    A short time later, a car was found burnt out in Robinvale Avenue in Thomastown, about a seven-minute drive from the crime scene. Offenders were seen fleeing in a white vehicle.

    Police investigate Married at First Sight Australia after 'inappropriate' allegations

    Married at First Sight Australia is facing fresh controversy after police launched an investigation into the hit reality TV show.

    New South Wales told BBC News that inquiries had taken place "following a report of inappropriate content being shared".

    Channel Nine, which broadcasts Married at First Sight Australia, confirmed that it was "aware of a police investigation" involving the show's production company.

    It is the latest blow for the show, after a BBC News investigation earlier this year into MAFS Australia revealed cast members said they had not been told their partners had previous drug and violence convictions.

    Those revelations led to a warning from Australia's media watchdog, which called them "serious and disturbing".

    Police investigate Married at First Sight after complaint from contestant

    Police have visited the set of reality TV show Married at First Sight after a report was made involving alleged inappropriate sharing of personal content in Western Australia, months after former contestants raised the alarm over alleged inappropriate behaviour on the show.

    Nine, the broadcaster of the popular series and owner of this masthead, issued a statement confirming the police investigation, but referred all enquires to EndemolShine Australia, which produces the show for the broadcaster. EndemolShine has been contacted for comment.

    The alleged incident occurred during the filming of the show’s forthcoming season. NSW Police said its officers attended a Zetland apartment building on August 24 to investigate after a report was filed in Sydney.

    Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a man at a house in Perth's southern suburbs.

    WA Police say they were called to a residence on Nye Way in Orelia about 2:20pm yesterday after "reports of a serious incident".

    In a statement, police said another man "known to the deceased" was found inside the house and taken into custody.

    The investigation is being led by the Homicide Squad and remains ongoing.

    WA’s Cooper Connolly has had to travel separate to Australia’s team while wearing a mask, as the tourists weigh up his potential return to the Test team in South Africa.

    A top cop has been tapped to become his state's next governor, extending an outstanding career of public service and leadership spanning more than four decades.

    South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas says Police Commissioner Grant Stevens will start the role from December 9 on a five-year contract.

    Mr Stevens will become the 37th Governor of South Australia, replacing Frances Adamson, who declined to extend her term for another five years.

    Activists have slammed the Cook government for “draconian” police powers banning people from going near the Land Forces Expo that will be held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre next week.

    The Greens and WA Anti-War Collective said six people they knew of had received police letters this week banning them from entering the expo security zone that will be in place around the centre from Thursday.

    The powers, which passed WA parliament last month, establish the security zone covering the convention centre and Elizabeth Quay busport for a period of 10 days around the event.

    In that zone, police are able to ban people, stop and search anyone they choose, and remove face coverings.

    A police officer who punched a suspect nine times in the head used unreasonable force on multiple occasions, a police misconduct hearing has been told.

    PC Richard Williams faces eight allegations relating to the arrest of Steven Clark, including using a headlock or "choker", unreasonable use of incapacitant spray, and throwing or dropping Clark into the back of a police van.

    A misconduct hearing at North Wales Police headquarters in Colwyn Bay heard Williams denies wrongdoing.

    He was cleared of assault and intentional strangulation following a seven-day trial in Caernarfon, Gwynedd, in 2025.

    In May 2023, police were called to Porthmadog in Gwynedd, following a report of a domestic argument.

    He justified his actions during the incident in Porthmadog on May 10 2023, saying he was protecting a female PC who he said had been assaulted by the person he was arresting.

    The constable of 21 years will now face a misconduct hearing at Police Headquarters in Colwyn Bay on Monday.

    Police officer punched man nine times during arrest, misconduct hearing told

    An officer punched a man he was in the process of arresting nine times while also placing him in a headlock, a misconduct hearing was told. PC Richard Williams appeared before a North Wales Police misconduct hearing on Monday, September 14, accused of gross misconduct following the arrest.

    Video footage of the incident was shared widely on social media in the aftermath, and showed PC Williams repeatedly punching Steven Clark.

    A woman has been stabbed multiple times and her 10-year-old son has been punched in a random attack outside the Victoria Police headquarters in Melbourne.

    A man has been arrested, with police saying he did not know the pair.

    A man has been charged after a mother and a child were attacked outside the Victoria Police headquarters in Melbourne's CBD.

    Police have been told the woman was walking with her three children outside the police station on Spencer Street about 1pm when a man punched her 10-year-old son in the upper body.

    Mother repeatedly stabbed, young son punched in ‘horrific’ random Melbourne CBD attack

    A man has been charged after he allegedly punched a 10-year-old boy and repeatedly stabbed his mother with a pair of scissors outside of a Melbourne police station.

    Police said the man was quickly arrested after a hero bystander who tackled the assailant mid-attack.

    According to officers, the 46-year-old mother and her three children, aged 10, 11 and 16, were on the footpath on Spencer Street when the stranger approached the family about 1pm on Tuesday.

    Victoria Police Superintendent Zorka Dunstan said the 27-year-old man “randomly” punched the child and kept walking.

    Man charged after mum stabbed, boy punched in random CBD attack

    A 27-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly assaulted a child and stabbed the boy’s mother with a pair of scissors in Melbourne’s CBD yesterday.

    The Sunshine West man was arrested after he allegedly punched the 10-year-old boy outside police headquarters on Spencer Street on Tuesday afternoon. Police allege he then placed the child’s mother in a headlock and stabbed her with a pair of scissors.

    Police said the attack was completely random and only ended when several witnesses intervened.

    The man has been charged with affray, intentionally causing injury, multiple counts of unlawful assault, conduct endangering life, and conduct endangering serious injury.

    Taiwanese prosecutors charged nine people Monday, including one from Nvidia and two from Super Micro, for illegally exporting “high-end AI servers” to mainland China, adding another wave of turbulence in the AI ​​rivalry between China and the United States.

    Prosecutors said the servers involved were graphics processing units known as “B300,” which have been banned from sale to China.
