Hear that? That the sounds of the rapidly increasingly heart rates of Carlton fans at the MCG.

Talor Byrne had a nervous lopsided kick and it didn’t go anywhere near the middle posts. There have been mistakes galore for both teams but Carlton have missed many opportunities at goal.

With better accuracy, the Blues could be 36 points ahead by now

Carlton have made some messy and rushed errors during this third quarter, as the pressure of leading possibly creeps up.

Everyone’s looking a little sloppy and goal accuracy is leaving a lot to be desired right now.

Who wins & why? Tips & predictions for Round 6, 2026

Round 6 is here as we enter a big weekend of footy.

In the wake of Gather Round, things kick off with perhaps the biggest rivalry in footy, with the Blues and Magpies meeting in Nick Daicos' 100th game.

Friday has an intriguing double-header as four strong sides take to the field, while the loser of Crows v Saints on Saturday night will also be a huge talking point.

We also celebrate superstar Lachie Neale and Cats great Mark Blicavs who reach 300 AFL games this weekend.

Carlton’s start to the year could hardly have been worse for Michael Voss. 1-4 through their first five, the Blues could easily have started without a win if not for a desperate four-point win over the lowly Tigers.

Collingwood have been in preliminary finals three times in Craig McRae’s four years as coach, winning the 2023 premiership, while the Saints have finished 12th twice, eighth and 10th over those seasons, seemingly mired in a pit of mediocrity.

Yet, the Saints are marginally favoured on Sunday night when they “host” Collingwood at the MCG in a game that might bust the club’s record for a home-and-away attendance of 81,386, also against the Magpies in the 2010 season, which was the year of St Kilda’s last grand final appearance(s) in Ross Lyon’s first coming as coach.

Cal Wilkie has seen St Kilda in the AFL gutter for long enough. To paraphrase Oscar Wilde, he's looking at the stars.

The Saints' new co-captain is unafraid to dream big in public, six decades since their only premiership and 16 years after their most recent grand final appearance.

"We just want to play more consistent footy. We've been very inconsistent over the last two years and that's what has been frustrating," Wilkie told AAP.
