Yankees call up No. 2 prospect to start Sunday's game vs. Reds

NEW YORK — The Yankees have shuffled their rotation, recalling right-hander Elmer Rodríguez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to start Sunday in place of right-hander Gerrit Cole, who is now scheduled to pitch Monday at Detroit.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone announced the changes after Saturday’s 10-2 loss to the Reds, coming as the club navigates a schedule of 16 consecutive games. The club announced the move Sunday morning.

“It’s nothing other than this long stretch, just giving all our starters an extra day,” Boone said. “Everyone else will bounce back a day. It’s something we’ve been kicking around the last few days.”

Mock Draft: Rockets Draft Unheralded All-Sun Belt Forward in Second Round

Houston Rockets General Manager Rafael Stone expressed a desire to bolster the back end of the roster at his end of season press conference. Stone sat alongside Rockets coach Ime Udoka and the two agreed that the Rockets' best chance of improvement year over year will come by way of internal development.

Which is a fair take, as the team invested top-four draft picks in three of the team's young guns — Amen Thompson, Jabari Smith Jr. and Reed Sheppard. In addition, Alperen Sengun and Tari Eason were selected with fringe lottery draft picks.

Eason was selected with the 17th draft pick and Sengun was selected 16th overall, albeit technically by the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Rockets have two second round draft picks in the draft later this month.

Will UVA center Ugonna Onyenso be picked in the 2026 NBA draft?

Virginia has only one player from their roster declaring for the 2026 NBA draft, and its Nigerian center Ugonna Onyenso. After a set of standout performances in the ACC Tournament, he’s declared for the NBA draft, but looks to be on the edge of the draft boards, likely to be a pick deep in the second round.

Even if he is drafted, it’s likely that we won’t be seeing him in NBA starting lineups next season, but he could develop into a strong defensive piece of an NBA team’s rotation. Who could take him in the draft? Will he be drafted at all? Let’s predict where Onyenso lands.

Hope, Dodgers' No. 2 prospect, smacks grand slam to continue hit streak

The Dodgers’ No. 2 prospect (MLB No. 24) blasted a grand slam on Sunday for Double-A Tulsa, helping power a 7-2 win over Springfield. The big fly was Hope’s second career grand slam and his second home run of the young 2026 campaign, with his first coming just one day earlier on Saturday.

Hope showed off his gaudy 60-grade power with Sunday’s fourth-inning shot, taking a pitch on the outer portion of the plate and sending it way out to the opposite field at 101 mph.

The outfielder tacked on a ground-ball single in the ninth for his first multi-hit game of 2026. He has now recorded a hit in all eight games to begin the Drillers’ season, resulting in a .265/.297/.500 slash line.

Ryan Fitzgerald hits a grand slam (2) to right center field. Jack Suwinski scores. Seby Zavala scores. Zach Ehrhard scores.

Dodgers' Zyhir Hope Hits Three-Run Homer for Double-A Tulsa

Zyhir Hope, the Dodgers' No. 6 ranked prospect, hit a three-run home run for the Double-A Tulsa Drillers in a game on April 12, 2026. The promising young slugger's first homer of the year came as part of a strong start to the season for the talented outfielder.

Hope is considered one of the Dodgers' top up-and-coming talents, and his continued development at the Double-A level is an important step in his path to potentially joining the major league roster in the near future. The Dodgers have high hopes for the 22-year-old, who has shown impressive power and hitting ability in the minors.

Liberals despair at prospect of 'non-existence' and weigh leadership change

Sussan Ley could face a challenge from Angus Taylor as early as this week, sources say. (ABC News: Matt Roberts/Luke Stimson)

Liberals are openly contemplating a leadership change after a Newspoll published in The Australian showed the Coalition slipping to a primary vote of 18 per cent, behind One Nation.

Jane Hume said the party was at risk of "non-existence" and that the leaders of both the Liberal and National parties should be blamed.

The lower house sits this week, and senators will quiz officials at Senate estimates.

Distraught Liberals are now openly contemplating dumping their leader, Sussan Ley, after yet another opinion poll showed them falling behind One Nation and risking an even worse loss at the next federal election than last year's historic drubbing.

View from The Hill: will disastrous Newspoll trigger Taylor challenge to Ley, despite Coalition patch-up

Sussan Ley and David Littleproud on Sunday announced an 11th hour patch up of the federal Coalition that the Liberal leader hopes will hold off an early challenge from Angus Taylor.

But on Sunday night it was doubtful whether re-forming the Coalition would prevent Taylor, the opposition defence spokesman, moving this week, with some sources putting a challenge to Ley’s leadership at 50-50 probability.

Sussan Ley’s deal to reunite with the Nationals has damaged her credibility and potentially shifted some MPs into her leadership rival Angus Taylor’s corner, according to colleagues who are bracing for a spill as soon as this week.

As Ley told a press conference the majority of colleagues believed the two parties were “stronger together”, one Liberal MP privately feared the reunion would ultimately lead to the “destruction of the Liberal party”.
