Zendaya pulls out showstopping gown made from 65,000 kingfisher feathers for film premiere

Just when we thought Zendaya's outfits for The Drama's press tour couldn't get any better, she pulled out the showstopper.

At the film's New York Premiere today, the actress wore a striking gown as her "something blue."

The movie revolves around a wedding, with her stylist, Law Roach, dressing her in something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue across several premieres.

Her "something blue" was a jaw-dropping blue and black dress by Schiaparelli.

Close-up shots of the dress show shining blue feathers layered on the bodice.

The gown then hugs at the hips before a black feather skirt extends out into a layered A-line style skirt.

A question mark may still hang over actor Zendaya’s marital status to Spider-Man co-star Tom Holland, but on the red carpet, wedding bells are ringing loud and clear.

The 29-year-old has been busy promoting her latest project, The Drama (in cinemas today), an A24 production which follows a happy couple (played by Zendaya and Robert Pattinson) whose upcoming nuptials are derailed after the bride reveals a terrible secret.

In today’s world, promoting a film is as much about what its actors wear as what they say, with method dressing becoming a real trend (see Margot Robbie’s Barbie and “Wuthering Heights” press tours, or Zendaya’s tennis-themed looks for Challengers in 2024).

Zendaya Updates Her Bridal Beauty With Spring’s Hottest Eyeshadow Trend

Across The Drama press tour, Zendaya and her team have played with all the bridal tropes and traditions—from her “something old” 2015 Oscars dress rewear, to the “something borrowed” gown via Cate Blanchett, and her “something blue” Schiaparelli couture gown. The alleged real-life newlywed has also had a bit of a glam glow-up.

Stepping out last night for The Drama premiere after-party, her final beauty look reveled in the looser, more free-spirited vibes that come out later, post-nuptials and receptions. Zendaya wore a metallic blue shadow, deeper in the middle an elongating into a smoked out cats eye. She was contoured with a warm coral and a silver highlight traveled up to her temple with an almost wet-look effect. The lip was a glossy, juice nude pink. The actor’s bixie cut also had a wet effect, slicked back from her face and pushed over one side. The glam complimented her slinky and sheer midnight blue Di Petsa gown: an example of naked dressing tempered with a strong beauty look.

Australian qualifier Maddison Inglis is through to the fourth round at Melbourne Park after four-time major winner Naomi Osaka withdrew from the tournament.

Only hours before their scheduled match on Saturday night, two-time AO champion Osaka announced she was withdrawing because of a physical issue

"I've had to make the difficult decision to withdraw to address something my body needs attention for after my last match," the 28-year-old wrote on her Instagram story.

Naomi Osaka has withdrawn from the Australian Open ahead of her third-round match against Maddison Inglis.

Osaka says she could not play through an abdominal injury she is carrying.

Inglis will play former world number one Iga Świątek in the fourth round.

Naomi Osaka has made a shock withdrawal from the Australian Open, handing Maddison Inglis her first appearance in the fourth round at a major.

Osaka was due to play Australian qualifier Inglis on Rod Laver Arena on Saturday evening.

But in the hours leading up to the match, Osaka announced she had pulled out of the tournament because of an abdominal injury.

Naomi Osaka already had the two biggest moments of the Australian Open: her show-stopping outfit in the opening round and her fiery exchange with Sorana Cirstea.

The devastating turn of events for Osaka – who pulled out due to an abdominal injury – has blown the tournament wide open for her opponent, Australian qualifier Maddison Inglis, who now automatically progresses to the fourth round.

McDonald’s Pulls Down AI-Generated Holiday Ad After Deluge of Mockery

Update: McDonald’s has issued a very strange response to the drama.

Thanks to the rise in popularity of generative AI, mainstream companies like Coca-Cola and Google are jumping on the bandwagon to plop out new advertisements. There’s just one issue: pretty much everybody hates it.

This year, McDonald’s decided to get in on the corporate slopfest with a 45-second Christmas spot cooked up for its Netherlands division by the ad agency TBWANeboko. The entire thing is AI, and revolves around the thesis that the holiday season is the “most terrible time of the year.”

Humbug aside, the ad assaults the viewer with rapidly-changing scenes played out in AI’s typically nauseating fashion. Because most videos generated with AI tend to lose continuity after a handful of seconds, short and rapidly-changing scenes have become one of the key tells that the clip you’re watching is AI.

McDonald's pulls AI-generated Christmas advert following backlash

McDonald's Netherlands has taken down a Christmas advert made with Artificial Intelligence (AI) following online backlash.

The 45-second advert was produced with generative AI clips and released publicly on McDonald's Netherlands YouTube channel on 6 December.

Viewers on social media denounced the use of AI in the film, with one commenter calling it "the most god-awful ad I've seen this year".

On 9 December McDonald's Netherlands removed the video, adding in a statement to BBC News that the moment served as "an important learning" as the company explored "the effective use of AI".

The advert was created for McDonald's Netherlands by Dutch company TBWANeboko and US production company The Sweetshop.
