Charlie Hunnam has enjoyed an interesting TV and movie career since landing his first notable role in the groundbreaking LGBTQ+ drama "Queer As Folk" on Channel 4 in 1999.

The actor went on to appear in the soccer hooligan movie "Green Street" and period comedy "Nicholas Nickleby." Now, he's arguably best known for his portrayal of Jax Teller, the tortured heir to a criminal motorbike gang, in "Sons of Anarchy," one of the best FX shows ever made.

Hunnam, however, more recently made headlines for his portrayal of real-life serial killer Ed Gein in Ryan Murphy's "Monster" series on Netflix. Hunnam will return for Murphy's next "Monster" chapter, "The Lizzie Borden Story," which premieres Thursday, September 17. To celebrate his latest role, we're highlighting Hunnam in today's quote of the day.

Film Quote of the Day: Robert Redford's Iconic Line That Questioned What Honesty Really Means

Three Days of the Condor opened in September 1975, just as American audiences were still processing Watergate. There was plenty to be paranoid about. The film is also a standout entry in the middle-of-the-'70s film Renaissance that gave us some of the best movies of all time.

Sydney Pollack directed the thriller. Robert Redford starred as Joe Turner, a CIA analyst whose entire job is reading books, magazines, and documents in multiple languages, scanning for anything that might matter to the agency. Turner slips out the back door to grab lunch and comes back to find everyone in the office dead. From there, it's a chase through New York and an extended meditation on whether the people hunting you are any worse than the ones claiming to protect you.

"They Tried Everything to Keep Me Out": Robert Redford Nearly Missed the Role That Made Him a Star

Robert Redford passed away on September 16, 2025, at 89. We've spent time since then revisiting his best films and his Sundance legacy. He's an absolute legend, not to mention one of the industry's foremost champions of independent cinema. We owe him so much.

But in a 2013 conversation with Terry Gross for Fresh Air, he told a story that keeps coming back to us. He almost didn't play the Sundance Kid.

By the late 1960s, Redford had put in the work as an actor. He had years of episodic television under his belt (Perry Mason, The Twilight Zone, Playhouse 90 and had even done a celebrated Broadway turn in Neil Simon's Barefoot in the Park, which he'd also brought to the screen opposite Jane Fonda in 1967.
