Mercedes-Benz recalls more than 58,000 luxury cars over electrical fault

Luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz has recalled more than 58,000 of its cars due to an electrical fault which may increase the risk of an accident.

The recall affects a range of cars manufactured from 2018 to 2026, including some AMG models, some of which can retail for about $190,000.

“Due to a manufacturing defect, the door-lock microswitch may be susceptible to water damage and could fail,” the recall notice said.

“If this occurs, the door may not be detected as open, preventing the auto-park feature from operating as intended.

“A loss of auto-park feature may result in unintended vehicle movement.

“This increases the risk of an accident, causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.

Mercedes-Benz recalls over 58,000 vehicles in Australia

More than 58,000 Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG vehicles produced between 2018 and 2026 are being recalled due to an electrical fault.

Mercedes-Benz Australia is recalling over 58,000 vehicles across several model lines as they may not automatically shift into park.

"Due to a manufacturing defect, the door-lock microswitch may be susceptible to water damage and could fail. If this occurs, the door may not be detected as open, preventing the auto park feature from operating as intended," the company says in its recall notice.

This refers to the vehicle shifting into park when the door is opened.

"A loss of auto park feature may result in unintended vehicle movement. This increases the risk of an accident, causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users," the notice reads.

FDA recalls levothyroxine sodium tablets. Here's what to know

Recalls occur when manufacturers and distributors remove products “that present a risk of injury or gross deception or are otherwise defective,” according to the FDA.

The Food and Drug Administration has recalled a commonly prescribed thyroid medication.

The recall involves levothyroxine sodium tablets that are used to treat hypothyroidism and decrease the size of enlarged thyroid glands, according to Mayo Clinic.

The FDA said they had been functioning as "subpotent drugs," meaning they had less of an active ingredient and were ultimately less effective.

Major Pharmaceuticals packaged and distributed the recalled tablets, while Cardinal Health also distributed some of the recalled products.

Major Rugby, a pharmaceutical manufacturer that produces levothyroxine sodium tablets, issued a nationwide recall for the common thyroid medication, according to a letter it sent to retailers earlier this month.

While consumers are being urged to return their medicine to the point of purchase, Major Rugby said in its letter that taking them "is not likely to cause adverse health effects."

Here’s what you should know about the recalled products and how to identify them.

Major Rugby issued a recall for 12 of its levothyroxine sodium tablet packages, including individual packs of 10 and boxes containing 10 blister packs.

The Mayo Clinic notes that levothyroxine sodium tablets are used to treat hypothyroidism, enlarged thyroid glands and a type of thyroid cancer.

Subaru recalls more than 541,000 vehicles over labeling error

Subaru of America is recalling more than 541,000 vehicles because they were manufactured with an error on their certification labels, according to federal regulators.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in a recall notice that the vehicles' labels have an incorrect gross axle weight rating, or GAWR, which could lead to an overweighted vehicle and increase the risk of a crash. GAWR is the load-carrying capacity of an axle system, according to NHTSA.

The recall affects certain 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid vehicles, 2025 to 2026 Forester Hybrid and Forester vehicles and 2019 to 2026 Ascent vehicles. All 541,237 vehicles included in the recall contain the defect.

Subaru, which was notified of the issue by NHTSA in May, is not aware of any crashes or injuries related to the labeling error.

‘I did receive bottles on stage. There might have been urine’: Melanie C on Spice Girls mania, impostor syndrome and her date with a Chili Pepper

As she releases a clubby new album, Sweat, the former Sporty Spice answers your questions on her raver days, scouse cuisine and Sex Pistols covers

Your acid remix of Jessie Ware’s Free Yourself was a bit unexpected, I admit. Were you a hardcore raver back in the early 90s? CoopertapesI absolutely was. I discovered raving on my first holiday without parents, just me and three of the girls I was at college with. This was the first environment I’d been in where I heard house music and everyone was dancing, and really expressing themselves. I was like, “Oh my God, I’ve found my people.” That’s where I got the bug. Then we’d also go to a club in Essex called Berwick Manor. I also remember going to the Cross, which was in King’s Cross. It was such a tiny little window of my late teens because the Spice Girls happened so quickly after it. I’d almost compartmentalised it and left it behind until I started DJing eight years ago.

For all the intense backlash Lena Dunham received following her first memoir in 2014, “Not That Kind of Girl,” one might think she would be cautious about the stories she chose to share in her second memoir.

But the “Girls” creator didn’t hold back in her long-awaited book, “Famesick,” out Tuesday. One of the biggest headlines to come out of Dunham’s book is undeniably her relationship with “Girls” co-star Adam Driver, who she alleges was “verbally aggressive, condescending and physically imposing.”

Back in 2018, Twitter user @buzzkillary made and posted a 29-slide PowerPoint titled “Lorde and Jack Antonoff — An Emotionally Broken Journey.” The presentation proposed a deeply researched theory that Antonoff had cheated on then-girlfriend Lena Dunham while working with Lorde on her album Melodrama in the years prior. At the time, Dunham and Antonoff had been publicly broken up for four months, and Antonoff had slammed any rumors about him and Lorde as “dumb heteronormative gossip.” Still, as the subtitle of the PowerPoint pointed out, “Lorde and Jack Antonoff 100% Were/Are Being Shady, Are Def Boning if Nothing Else, Lena Sucks Too But This is Bullshit and The People Deserve The Truth.” Eight years later, it seems like @buzzkillary may be getting what they wanted in the form of Dunham’s new memoir, Famesick.

Lena Dunham Gives Taylor Swift Sweet Acknowledgment in New Memoir: ‘You Sing the Songs I Wrote This Book To’

The pair have been friends for years, with the pop star serving as a bridesmaid for the actress in 2021.

A book acknowledgement is one of the greatest honors an author can bestow upon a loved one, and Lena Dunham just did so for Taylor Swift.

Actor, producer and author Dunham released her second memoir Famesick on Tuesday, and toward the end of the book, add a list of acknowledgements to the most important people in her life who helped her get the memoir published. Included in the names is Taylor Swift, who Dunham refers to as “TayTay.”

“TayTay — you sing the songs I wrote this book to, the stories that pulled these stories out of me, the music that makes the whole world feel seen,” Dunham writes. “And yet somehow, miraculously, you also pick up every desperate call at every desperate hour.”

And Jack Nicholson said, 'Well, we're here,'" Sutherland told CBS News in the upcoming special "CBS News: Rob Reiner – Scenes from a Life," airing Sunday. "So they did another one, and it was just as extraordinary."
