    Rumour Mongering: PSG will Reject Liverpool Opening €115M Barcola Bid

    French reports say PSG will only sell Barcola for €150M, and that’s before add-ons.

    Michael Owen has warned his former club Liverpool that Paris Saint-Germain are "exploiting" their pressing need to compensate for the departure of Mohamed Salah, by inflating their financial demands to permit the transfer of French winger Bradley Barcola.

    Liverpool are hunting a new winger before the summer window shuts in September. Salah tore up his contract and joined Turkish side Trabzonspor on a free transfer, walking away just months after penning a fresh two-year deal with the Reds last April.

    Cambridge academics reject university’s attempt to end row over Jason Arday

    Group calls for ‘thorough and transparent investigation’ of hiring of professor who resigned after his claims came under scrutiny

    The University of Cambridge has announced a review into the way it vets and hires senior academic staff in an effort to fend off external and internal criticism of its appointment of Jason Arday as a professor.

    But a group of Cambridge academics quickly rejected the university’s response, saying: “We strongly believe that a thorough and transparent investigation into the wider circumstances of this damaging episode is essential.”

    Arday resigned earlier this week after mounting scepticism over his personal and professional claims, three-and-a-half years after he was acclaimed as Cambridge’s youngest black professor with a life story of educational disadvantage, including being unable to speak until the age of 11.

    Met Police boss admits mistake over plagiarism row

    The head of the Metropolitan Police has said his force should not have investigated a journalist who was looking into plagiarism claims about a University of Cambridge professor.

    Met Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley said officers "dropped the ball" when they looked into a complaint made against journalist Jack Grove over his attempts to contact Prof Jason Arday.

    Sir Mark told broadcaster LBC the complaint should have been "screened out earlier on as not requiring investigation".

    Arday, who resigned from Cambridge on Wednesday, has has admitted errors in his work, but denied plagiarism.

    Times Higher Education (THE) reporter Grove said he had been investigating allegations Arday had plagiarised parts of his PhD, and contacted him in 2025 to offer him the right of reply.

    School strike to go ahead as teachers reject pay offer

    Victorian public school staff have voted to reject the state government’s latest pay offer, paving the way for statewide strikes to go ahead on Thursday.

    Teachers, principals and education support staff voted against a pay offer of 28.3 per cent over four years, during an online ballot of union members that began last week and ended at 1pm on Tuesday.

    Public school staff will stage a mass walkout on Thursday in an attempt to force the state government back to the negotiating table.

    The result of the Australian Education Union members’ vote was 48.82 per cent to 51.18 per cent in favour of rejecting the offer. More than 50,677 union members voted, representing 90.2 per cent of those eligible.

    Public school teachers will walk off the job for the second time in months after rejecting a revised pay offer.

    Victorian members of the Australian Education Union voted to turn down the state government's updated offer of a 28.3 per cent pay rise over the next four years.

    The union on Tuesday revealed almost 49 per cent of members voted to accept the deal and more than 51 per cent of members rejected it.

    Labor's budget has been poorly received across all demographics, according to a Redbridge poll.

    Pollster Tony Barry says Labor has "a lot of ground to cover" to improve voter perceptions.

    Labor's federal budget is falling flat with its target demographic, as millennials say they would rather vote for One Nation than Labor or the Greens, and gen Zs remain mostly oblivious to the proposed tax changes.

    According to a Redbridge poll published on Sunday night, among millennials, One Nation is now out-polling Labor, at 30 per cent compared to 28 per cent, though its share of the primary vote remains at just 10 per cent among gen Z voters.
