    Former Origin utility announces retirement

Former NRL half and utility Moses Mbye has announced his retirement from rugby league 13 years after making his NRL debut.

Mbye has over 260 first-grade games experience across both the NRL and Super League, including stints at the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, Wests Tigers, St George Illawarra Dragons and St. Helens.

The Noosa junior burst onto the scene at Belmore, recording almost 100 games for the Bulldogs over five seasons before making the switch to Concord in 2018, where he captained the Tigers from 2019 to 2020.

He made the switch to Wollongong in 2022 and played for the Red V in a utility role for a season-and-a-half before being released early to go play in England.

Former St Helens & Queensland star hangs up boots

Former St Helens star Moses Mbye has announced his retirement, insisting he will be ‘forever in debt to the game’ of rugby league.

Mbye – who turned 33 last week – brought the curtain down on his first-grade career with Saints, arriving midway through the 2023 campaign and remaining on Merseyside until the end of 2025.

Clocking up six tries in 61 appearances across all competitions while donning the red vee, the utility – able to slot into the halves or at hooker – returned Down Under to conclude his playing career in the Queensland Cup with Ipswich Jets.

The Jets have two games remaining in the Q Cup this term before the play-offs come around, but having not featured since mid-July, Mbye has now hung up his boots.

AusSuper fights retirement flight with expansion into financial advice

AustralianSuper is preparing for a major expansion into wealth planning, landing a financial services licence and hiring the lawyer who recommended that Labor relax rules on what advice funds can offer members.

The country’s largest manager of retirement savings – with about $410 billion invested – has registered an entity known as AustralianSuper Advice, and this month it acquired a financial licence that would permit it to offer advice in its first major push into the area.

AustralianSuper steps onto the advice high wire that broke the banks

Most members, unable to afford advice or unwilling to pay for it, are turning to Dr Google and ChatGPT, leading to suboptimal outcomes later in life.

It’s a blight on government, regulators and Australia’s biggest super fund that broad-based, useful, cheap and accessible financial advice is only just being rolled out to the wave of retirees set to hit the market.

For five years, the industry has been warning us of the mass exodus of advisers post the Hayne royal commission, which halved the number of advisers to 15,500, while the government whipped super funds into a retirement frenzy to create products most members wouldn’t inherently know when or how to use.

Australian Retirement Trust pulls back on passive investment strategy

The nation’s second-biggest pension fund, Australian Retirement Trust, says it has been overly reliant on passive index tracking investment strategies and is now allocating more money to active managers as a hedge against a hyper-concentrated global market too reliant on a small pool of technology firms.

Andrew Fisher, head of investment strategy at the fund, said ART had as much as two-thirds of its sprawling $207 billion listed equities’ portfolio tied up in passive strategies, which track the performance of overall indices rather than actively investing in specific companies they have a conviction would do better than their competitors.

Ravindra puts New Zealand in dominant position after England fail to take advantage

Things can change quickly in cricket. Just as England thought a reset had occurred with the win at Lord’s, only for a late night in Chelsea and defeat at the Oval to put paid to that notion, so the nature of the pitch lurched significantly on a gripping third day here.

Gone was the road on which the ball repeatedly raced across the parched outfield during the first two days and in its place – influenced by a slight drop in temperature and cloud cover – was a more capricious strip of earth. It offered lateral movement and inconsistent bounce, and led to 11 wickets falling.

Australian Retirement Trust March 4: Creative Review Signals ASX Flows

Australian Retirement Trust is reviewing its creative agency at a A$370B scale, a marketing move that can hint at portfolio tilt and fresh cash deployment. Per AdNews, M&C Saatchi has stepped aside. Our take at Meyka is here: Australian Retirement Trust March 04: Creative Review Hints at ASX Flows. Watch the S&P/ASX 200 ^AXJO, sector ETFs, and semi‑government tenders for early signals on equity and credit risk. We outline what to track, why timing matters, and how flows could shape pricing.

If messaging leans to income, expect more weight to defensives like utilities, infrastructure, and banks. A growth and innovation tone can mean higher beta via tech, cyclicals, and small caps. A heavier financial-press buy may target preretirees, often linked to lower-volatility super fund allocations. Broader mass-market buys can foreshadow growth capture and higher equity beta.

Australia Retirement Trust review: Creative change at a $370B super and the markets it could move

The boardroom briefing sits open while a major fund reshapes how it speaks to members. australia retirement trust has launched a creative review at roughly A$370 billion scale, and the incumbent agency has stepped aside as the super considers strategy, brand platform work and campaign execution.

A creative review at a superfund of this size is being read as more than an advertising refresh. The move can hint at where cash and attention will flow: messaging that leans to income typically aligns with heavier weight in defensives such as utilities, infrastructure and banks, while a growth-and-innovation tone can push allocations toward higher-beta exposures like technology, cyclicals and small caps. Campaign timing — for example around end‑of‑financial‑year windows or after a Federal Budget — can also map to contribution and rebalancing cycles and thereby to observable ETF and custody flows.

    Australian Retirement Trust Reviews Creative

Australian Retirement Trust is reviewing its creative account, B&T can reveal.

ART has had a very fruitful three-year relationship with incumbent agency M&C Saatchi, which won the account in 2023.

Together, they have collected a stack of awards for the super firm’s monstrous ‘Awaken Your Super’ campaign.

ART confirmed to B&T it was reviewing its creative account.

B&T understands that M+C Saatchi has declined to re pitch for the account.

The ‘Awaken Your Super’ campaign centres on challenging the notion that for the majority of Aussies, superannuation isn’t seen to be as active, interesting or relevant as the rest of their money.

Australian Retirement Trust March 02: Creative Review Signals Brand Shift

Australian Retirement Trust is launching a creative agency review as Kathy Vincent CEO sets a sharper strategy for the $370 billion superannuation fund. This signals a brand shift aimed at stronger member growth and better engagement. For investors, even small moves at Australian Retirement Trust can affect mandate sizes, liquidity, and pricing across ASX equities, credit, and private markets. We explain why this marketing decision matters for capital flows, what to watch in the next phase, and how it may ripple through Australian assets.

The creative agency review covers strategy, brand platform, and campaign development across paid, owned, and member touchpoints. According to Australian Retirement Trust Reviews Creative, the process seeks sharper positioning to win default flows and improve retention. For Australian Retirement Trust, stronger engagement can lift net inflows, reduce churn, and support scale benefits in fees. Better clarity on value and service also helps advice uptake and insurance attachment.
