'I think he did everything right': Lions to seek League clarity on Morris non-goal

Chris Fagan says the club will ask for clarification after Logan Morris' goal was disallowed on three-quarter time after play-on was called

BRISBANE coach Chris Fagan will seek clarity from the League after Logan Morris had a goal wiped away following the three-quarter time siren on Thursday night.

Morris took a mark 30m from goal just before the siren sounded and stepped back off his line to take his set shot as a right foot snap.

Appearing to kick the ball over the man on the mark, the adjudicating umpire thought otherwise and called play-on, wiping away the goal after the ball sailed between the posts.

‘Doesn’t need to be blown’: Lions to seek ‘clarity’ as AFL greats hit out at ‘horrendous’ call

Brisbane coach Chris Fagan says the club will seek “clarity” on why Logan Morris was denied a goal when the club believes “he did everything right” on Thursday night.

Morris had marked inside 50 with just seconds to spare in the third term – and went back to take his kick after the siren during his side’s 43-point win at the Gabba.

But after opting to snap the Sherrin – and appearing to pull up just short of the Swans player on the mark, the umpire directly behind the kick called play on and the Lion’s goal was denied.

The Channel Nine TV presenter Karl Stefanovic has posted a video of himself embracing the UK far-right activist Tommy Robinson, who is set to appear on his podcast.

The award-winning broadcaster also told another UK activist, Ant Middleton, a former soldier who has spoken at Robinson’s “unite the kingdom” rallies, he would “make a great prime minister”, in an interview on his podcast, the Karl Stefanovic Show, on Monday.

Revealed: The Russian Neo-Nazi Network Pushing ‘White Lives Matter’ Division in Britain – Promoted by Tommy Robinson

As riots spread across Belfast, Tommy Robinson promoted a movement founded by a sanctioned Russian oligarch, which has pushed white supremacist propaganda about the death of Henry Nowak

A network of Russian far-right extremists steeped in neo-Nazi antisemitism – created under the umbrella of a sanctioned oligarch close to Russian President Vladimir Putin, and now openly promoted by Tommy Robinson – has been driving ‘White Lives Matter’ propaganda over the murder of 18-year-old student Henry Nowak, Byline Times can reveal.

The organisation promoted by Robinson is part of a wider Russian state-linked campaign to sow division across the UK and Europe,

A Byline Times review of X and Telegram posts by the Brotherhood of Academists, a Russian ultranationalist youth movement which operates under the leadership of the US-sanctioned Tsargrad Society, reveals that the group pushed a white supremacist framing of Nowak’s killing on 20 May – the day media coverage of his killer’s trial intensified.

‘It doesn’t feel right’: Simpson says Carlton coaching job is not for him

West Coast premiership coach Adam Simpson, a part-time coaching consultant at Carlton, has officially ruled himself out of contention to be the Blues’ next senior coach.

A week after Simpson refused to declare if he wanted to coach Carlton, indicating that the circumstances of Michael Voss’ departure meant it was too soon to put his hand up, he has put a line through his own name and said: “It doesn’t feel right.”

The 2018 premiership coach and veteran of more than 300 AFL matches as a player with North Melbourne said he had “a very brief” conversation about the role with Carlton’s hierarchy, but the talks didn’t advance far.

Former Waalitij Marawar (West Coast) Eagles coach Adam Simpson rules himself out of Carlton consideration

Former West Coast coach Adam Simpson says he isn’t interested in taking the coaching role at Carlton despite the club reaching out to him.

Michael Voss called time on his tenure at the club last week, after the Blues’ diabolical start to the season left them sitting 16th with only two wins, one of which came after the former coach left.

Simpson has been out of the coaching box since departing the Eagles, who are known as Waalitij Marawar for Sir Doug Nicholls round, at the end of 2024.

However, the premiership-winning coach said he won’t be entering the race for the role.

Blow for Carlton as premiership-winning AFL coach rules himself out of race for Blues job

One massive name has withdrawn from contention to be Carlton’s next head AFL coach after Adam Simpson ruled himself out on Wednesday night. The West Coast premiership winner had his name thrown in the ring when Michael Voss stepped down as Carlton coach earlier this month.

Along with John Longmire, Simon Goodwin, Nathan Buckley and Paul Roos, there’s plenty of experienced coaches who could potentially be available. But Simpson revealed on Wednesday night that he’s “politely declined” after being contacted by Carlton.

Simpson, who led the Eagles to the AFL flag in 2018, has been working as a part-time coaching consultant at the Blues. “I’m not going to put my hand up for any type of role with Carlton, from a coaching point of view,” Simpson said on AFL 360.

Some teammates are refusing to watch the play.

Dan Woike: Jared Vanderbilt suffered a dislocation of his finger, JJ Redick says. Some teammates are refusing to watch the play. Horrible luck for a player who has been very important behind the scenes and who adds an on-court toughness that they need.

Shams Charania gives update on Jarred Vanderbilt's finger injury

The Los Angeles Lakers entered Game 1 of their Western Conference semifinal series against the Oklahoma City Thunder without Luka Doncic, who is still out with a Grade 2 hamstring strain. There is still no firm timetable for Doncic's return, and with each passing day, it looks more likely that he will not return at all during this postseason.

Los Angeles already had an anemic bench when healthy this season, and now their second unit could be even thinner. Forward Jarred Vanderbilt, who can be a spark plug for them off the bench as an energy player, suffered a finger injury during the second quarter while trying to block a dunk by Isaiah Hartenstein. He exited the game and never returned, as the Lakers lost 108-90.

Time is right for Kodi's Dolphins to set the record straight

Kodi Nikorima knows a thing or two about Queensland rivalries and he'd love nothing more than to help the Dolphins start setting the record straight against the Broncos.

Back in 2015 in his debut season, Nikorima came off the bench in Brisbane's grand final loss to the Cowboys – a team they had dominated for the first nine years of their rivalry.

After entering the competition in 1995, it took the Cowboys until the 2004 finals series to finally beat 'big brother', but by 2015 they were NRL champions after winning a grand final for the ages.

Wind the clock forward to 2023 and Nikorima was part of the Dolphins' inaugural season, having made the move north from the Rabbitohs.

Nine's expert tipsters are backing the Dolphins to pile on the pain for a Broncos side that has had a turbulent week despite an outstanding win against the Storm last Friday night.

The Broncos are reeling after it emerged that the club had decided to wipe Gorden Tallis' name from their centre of excellence, then assistant coach Ben Te'o quit after a clash with head coach Michael Maguire.

Dolphins Team List: Round 4 v Broncos

The Dolphins have been boosted for Friday night’s Battle for Brisbane, with Thomas Flegler returning from injury and Francis Molo back after three weeks out.

Fresh off their win over the Sharks, the Dolphins head to Suncorp Stadium with momentum, as Head Coach Kristian Woolf names an unchanged starting side. Flegler returns via the interchange.

Trai Fuller and Molo have been named 18th and 19th man.

Right Where He Belongs: Mannagh Signs on with Geelong

Geelong Cats forward Shaun Mannagh will remain in the Hoops until at least the end of 2029 after re-signing with the Club for a further three seasons

Geelong Cats forward Shaun Mannagh will remain in the Hoops until at least the end of 2029 after re-signing with the Club for a further three seasons.

Selected at Pick 36 in the 2023 National Draft, Mannagh made his debut in Round 1 of 2024, going on to play 12 games in his first season, including every match from Round 17 through to Geelong’s Finals campaign.

He built on an impressive debut season with an even stronger 2025, quickly establishing himself as one of the Cats’ most pivotal players, across 23 matches in 2025, he finished with 31 goals and 20 goal assists, ranking among Geelong’s top five players in both categories.

    Mannagh commits to Cats

Geelong has locked away its most important out-of-contract player, with Shaun Mannagh putting pen to paper on a contract extension.

The 28-year-old has put pen to paper on a three-year contract extension, keeping him at GMHBA Stadium until the end of the 2029 season.

Drafted as a 26-year-old in the 2023 National Draft after starring with VFL club Werribee, including kicking six goals in its grand final loss that year, Mannagh has played 37 games and kicked 50 goals since making his debut in Round 1, 2024.

He was named the AFL Coaches’ Association’s Best Young Player last year.

“Shaun has quickly become an important part of our Club on and off the field, and we’re thrilled to see him commit for another three years,” Cats football boss Andrew Mackie said.

The Bridgerton star has told of her horror at being approached by a fan who only wanted to talk about her body. Surely it’s time we focused on something else

Nicola Coughlan is sick of the subject of “body positivity”, and thank God, because so am I. “The thing I say sometimes that pisses people off is I have no interest in body positivity,” she said in a recent interview. Like Coughlan and no doubt many, many other women, I’m sick of talking about it, thinking about it, reading about it, all of it (I do recognise a certain irony in my writing about it, but hear me out). In the same interview, Coughlan recounted an encounter with a fan: “I remember this really drunk girl once talking to me in a bathroom being like, ‘I loved [Bridgerton] because of your body’ and started talking about my body, and I was like, ‘I want to die. I hate this so much.’”

Bridgerton's Nicola Coughlan Slams Body Comments After Her Weight Loss

Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan explained that she has "no interest" in body positivity, explaining how "bizarre" it was to be described as plus-size even after losing a "bunch of weight."

The Bridgerton actress, who stars as Penelope on the Netflix show, explained that she has no desire to speak about her body or her weight loss.

"The thing I say sometimes that pisses people off is, ‘I have no interest in body positivity,’" she told Elle in an interview published March 4. "When I was a kid growing up, I never thought about that. I didn’t look at actors and think about their bodies. So, I actually don’t care."

Irish actress slams fans who body-shamed her in nude scenes

Bridgerton actress Nicola Coughlan has spoken out about fans who body-shamed her during her nude scenes in the successful Netflix series, calling the comments “bizarre” and “f….d”.

The 39-year-old Irish star enjoyed breakout success for her role in Derry Girls, but is more recently known for her portrayal as Penelope Featherington in the period drama’s fourth season.

Coughlan, who is dating actor Jake Dunn, 52, told Elle magazine she was proud to belong to the “perfect-breast community” after viewers watching the show discussed her weight and size.

“You know what was really bizarre was, when I was shooting that series, I was exercising a lot because I knew I had to, so I had lost a bunch of weight – I was probably a size 10, and one of the corsets was a size 8,” she said.

Disgraced former union boss John Setka faces fresh criminal charges over allegations he issued a Christmas Day threat to an official from the Albanese government-backed administration that seized control of the CFMEU in 2024.

Police arrested the 61-year-old in Footscray on Wednesday morning, and he will face court over the charges in early June.

Setka has also been charged by Victoria Police’s Taskforce Hawk, which is investigating allegations of criminal behaviour linked to the construction industry, for allegedly committing offences while on bail.

Separately, Setka has been questioned over domestic abuse allegations after taking a car, which he says he owns, from a shopping centre car park.

Usman Khawaja’s assertion that commentary from journalists and former players about his golf and subsequent back injury before the first Ashes Test carried racist undertones is inflammatory, and in this case, completely wide of the mark.

Sitting through Khawaja’s 50-minute press conference was an awkward experience on a morning that should have been spent celebrating one of Australia’s great cricket careers.

Instead, it became a broadside against sections of the media and some former players, framed around double standards and what he described as “racial stereotypes”.

Khawaja's powerful retirement speech became a huge talking point in cricket before his farewell match in Sydney, just as the veteran Australian batsman had drawn headlines on and off the pitch throughout his 18-year career.

And in the aftermath of the 50-minute press conference Khawaja continued to prompt debate, with cricket legend Jason Gillespie later questioning his claims of racism being behind some criticism directed at the 39-year-old as recently as this Ashes series.
