Rory McIlroy's colossal net worth now with Masters champ richer than £119m Tyson Fury

It is shaping up to be a busy weekend for British sports fans, with two of the most recognisable stars in the land taking centre stage in very different disciplines.

Under the famous tall pines of Augusta National, Rory McIlroy has found his rhythm at exactly the right time, currently sitting atop the Masters leaderboard as he looks to secure a second successive Green Jacket.

Meanwhile, the boxing world is focused on the return of the 'Gypsy King,' as Tyson Fury steps back into the ring for a high-stakes comeback fight against the dangerous Arslanbek Makhmudov.

While both men are chasing vital victories this weekend, a glance at their respective bank balances reveals that a different kind of gap has opened up between them. Despite the massive, multi-million-pound purses typically associated with heavyweight boxing, it is the man from Holywood, Northern Ireland, who holds the financial lead.

The former heavyweight champion makes his return to boxing on Saturday after announcing his retirement following his second straight defeat to Oleksandr Usyk back in December 2024.

Tyson Fury has come out of retirement to face Russian boxer Arslanbek Makhmudov in a heavyweight clash in London on April 11. Rory McIlroy's wealth has grown substantially over the past year, according to a wide-ranging rich list.

The latest Sunday Times Rich List in the UK released last year placed his net worth at approximately $350 million, representing a jump of nearly $50 million compared to the previous year. The highly regarded list, now celebrating its 37th year, spotlights the 350 wealthiest individuals across the United Kingdom.

McIlroy ranks among the richest under-40s in the UK, claiming the 19th spot on that particular list, placing him ahead of Harry Styles. He is now looking to claim another Green Jacket, after getting brutally honest with Amanda Balionis after a Masters round he didn't want.

Who is Rory McIlroy's wife? More on the Masters champ and Erica Stoll

Today is the last day of the Masters, and it could end with Rory McIlroy becoming the fourth ever back-to-back champion. Tens of thousands will be watching at Augusta National, including his support network. Here's a look at who they are:

McIlroy has been married to western New York native Erica Stoll since April 22, 2017. According to People Magazine, he proposed to her in Paris and the two were married at Ashford Castle in Ireland.

Stoll used to work for the PGA as a transport official, office manager, and manager of championship volunteer operations. This career is how she met McIlroy at the Ryder Cup in 2012.

Truth about Rory McIlroy and Erica Stoll's divorce drama revealed

The secret struggles of Rory McIlroy's wife, Erica Stoll, have been laid bare in a revealing new book about the life of the Masters champion.

The widely respected Alan Shipnuck's 'Rory: The Heartache and Triumph of Golf's Most Human Superstar' reveals how Stoll became a 'neo-Elin' – a reference to Tiger Woods' first wife, Elin Nordegren, who Woods admitted cheating on throughout his rise to the top of the game.

While accusations of that extent have never been leveled at McIlroy, the couple nearly divorced in May 2024 amid rumors McIlroy was seeing golf reporter Amanda Balionis.

The storm contributed to Erica shunning the spotlight, repeatedly declining to do interviews or visiting McIlroy on tour and instead staying at home with their daughter, Poppy, the book says.

Rory McIlroy's wife Erica Stoll: Are they still together?

Rory McIlroy and wife Erica Stoll have been in the public eye for nearly a decade, after the pair got married in 2017 and had daughter Poppy in 2020.

So if you're here, you might be wondering: Is the couple still together? How did they meet? And what's next for them as McIlroy continues to be one of the best golfers in the world and among the all-time greats?

The answer is: Yes, they're still together. There had been reports of them filing for divorce years ago, but that was called off in 2024, with McIlroy saying this: "Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realized that our best future was as a family together. Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning.”

Mason Howell: Future Georgia Bulldog to play Masters with defending champion Rory McIlroy

AUGUSTA — In 2016, Rory McIlroy handed a golf ball to a 9-year-old boy at the Tour Championship at East Lake.

This week, the 18-year-old from Thomasville brought it with him to Augusta National, carrying it in his bag during practice rounds ahead of his Masters debut.

Howell and McIlroy will tee off together in Thursday’s opening round, following the tradition of grouping the defending Masters champion with the reigning U.S. Amateur winner. Howell plans to use McIlroy’s ball to break the tension.

“I’m going to say, ‘I’m going to play the first hole with a Nike,’ which I’m not,” he said. “It says ‘Rors’ on the side. That would be a power move.”

Rory McIlroy says THE PLAYERS Championship will be 'game-time decision' after testing back injury

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Rory McIlroy said he is a “game-time decision” for the first round of THE PLAYERS Championship as he continues to recover from a back injury.

McIlroy arrived on the property for the first time all week on Wednesday afternoon. He hit balls intermittently for about an hour, working his way from a wedge to a 6-iron. After speaking to the media, McIlroy walked TPC Sawgrass’s back nine with a wedge and putter.

“It's better than it was,” McIlroy said of his back, which he injured while warming up for the third round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard last week.

Rory McIlroy hopes to defend Players Championship despite back injury

‘I’m taking it hour by hour, but it feels better’

Rory McIlroy will make a last‑minute call on Thursday over whether to defend his Players Championship title, with the Northern Irishman still feeling the effects of a weekend back injury. McIlroy will wait until his pre-round range session to determine whether he is fit enough to play.

McIlroy arrived here on Wednesday afternoon, having withdrawn shortly before his third round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He hit shots for around an hour before walking the back nine with wedge and putter in hand. McIlroy sustained a muscle problem in the gym on Saturday morning, which left him basically inactive for three days.

"I've got about, I don't know, is it 20 hours until I tee off. So, yeah, we'll see. I'm taking it sort of hour by hour," said McIlroy, who is scheduled to tee off at 1:42 p.m. ET. "Hopefully a good night tonight. The drugs are working wonders, and then just keep it going from there."

Rory McIlroy: 'A shame' Jon Rahm rejected DP World Tour deal

You have reached ESPN's Australian edition. Stay on current site or go to US version.

ORLANDO, Fla. — Rory McIlroy says it's "a shame" that Jon Rahm is the only LIV Golf player unwilling to accept the terms of a DP World Tour deal to eliminate future fines, and he brushed off concerns the Spaniard might not be eligible for the Ryder Cup team.

"The Ryder Cup is bigger than any one person," McIlroy said Wednesday.

Rahm's future in the matches was placed in doubt this week when he refused the terms of the European tour's offer — pay previous fines for not getting a release to play LIV Golf events, drop any appeals and add two tournaments to the minimum four required for DP World Tour membership.

‘What more can they do?’: Rory issues Ryder Cup warning to LIV star after ‘extortion’ claims

Rory McIlroy has responded to Jon Rahm’s claims that the DP World Tour is “extorting players” with a pointed warning for the former world No.1’s Ryder Cup future.

The European-based Tour came to an agreement with eight LIV players last month to play more DP World Tour events in return for their release to play on LIV as well as their fines being paid.

Rahm did not see eye-to-eye however, telling reporters in Hong Kong ahead of this week’s LIV event that he disagreed with the terms – namely being asked to play a minimum of six European events, two of which are determined by the tour, to keep his membership.

Lynch: Won’t anyone tell Jon Rahm he’s not the victim in his own mess?

There must scarcely be a splinter of wood remaining in Jon Rahm’s Scottsdale neighborhood, given the frequency with which he fashions crosses to which he might nail himself. His complaints have now become so commonplace that it’s a dizzying exercise to catalog the myriad ways in which the recipient of Saudi largesse imagines himself being unfairly victimized.

It’s almost quaint to look back at the 2024 PGA Championship, a few months after his move to LIV Golf, when Rahm bemoaned hearing that he was on “the other side” from the PGA Tour because he considered himself still a member in decent standing, despite being suspended for jumping to a competitor. Since then, LIV’s heavyweight star has been taking swings at all of the punchbags favored by the league’s lightweight lackeys.

Even if LIV Golf spends hundreds of millions of dollars to re-sign two-time U.S. Open winner Bryson DeChambeau, PGA Tour star Rory McIlroy said he doesn't believe the Saudi Arabian-financed breakaway league will be any better off.

"It's not as if they made any huge signings this year, is it?" McIlroy told The Telegraph of London on Thursday. "They haven't signed anyone who moves the needle, and I don't think they will. I mean, they could re-sign Bryson for hundreds of millions of dollars, but even if they do, it doesn't change their product, does it? They'll just be paying for the exact same thing."

Golf champion Rory McIlroy has delivered a blunt verdict on the LIV Golf threat, suggesting the rebel league is at a low point in its four-year existence following the departure of former world No. 1 Brooks Koepka.

Earlier this month, five-time major winner Koepka quit the Saudi-backed league with a year remaining on his contract, returning to the PGA Tour with a AU$7.4 million fine and minor playing restrictions, while he’s banned from earning any equity in the Tour for five years.
