    Brumbies end 26-year hoodoo, Slipper scores in game 200

    James Slipper has scored a rare try in his 200th game to help the ACT Brumbies end a 26-year hoodoo with a 50-24 win against the Crusaders in Christchurch.  

    Having scored just one try in the last two Super Rugby seasons, Slipper was a surprise scorer when he was on the receiving end of an Andy Muirhead offload in the 29th minute. 

    It was his 10th try in the competition since debuting for the Queensland Reds in 2010. 

    The five-pointer was the cherry on top for the former Wallaby, as he became the second player to reach the 200-game milestone. 

    He now sits just two matches behind former All Black Wyatt Crockett (202 matches) for most games played.

    Lumus Imaging Injury Update: A-League Men & Women Round 18

    Brisbane Roar are locked in for a big weekend of A-League action, with the Men kicking things off on Saturday afternoon away against Sydney FC before the Women face Adelaide United at Spencer Park on Sunday.

    After a 1-1 draw with Melbourne Victory last weekend, Roar will be looking for all three points at Allianz Stadium this Saturday.

    Due to an accumulation of five yellow cards, James McGarry is suspended and will return for Round 19 next week.

    Noah Maieroni has served his one-game suspension and returns to the extended squad.

    Henry Hore, Nathan Amanatidis, Jay O’Shea and Milorad Stajic continue rehabilitation for their respective leg injuries.

    Chelsea have kept two clean sheets in 10 games since appointing Liam Rosenior as head coach last month. Repeated doziness at the back has cost them. They have held commanding advantages against Charlton, Crystal Palace, Wolves and Leeds, only to give away silly goals. It is a bad habit and proved costly when a 2-0 lead was squandered during Tuesday’s draw with Leeds. Rosenior was livid afterwards, and is waiting for a consistent performance. Chelsea travel to Hull , Rosenior’s former club, on Friday night. They will surely advance against Championship opponents, but how they do it will matter. It is time for them to get serious.     LOS ANGELES — The Lakers are signing former No. 15 pick Kobe Bufkin to a two-year deal, with a team option for the 2026-27 season, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania on Saturday.

    Bufkin has starred for Los Angeles' South Bay G League affiliate and rejoins the Lakers in his third NBA season to fill their 15th roster spot.

    The 22-year-old Bufkin signed a 10-day contract with the Lakers in January and averaged 3.0 points and 1.3 rebounds in 11.3 minutes per game across four contests. He also signed a 10-day contract with the Memphis Grizzlies in November.

    Lakers signing Kobe Bufkin makes sense and was a smart move

    LOS ANGELES — Before the Lakers’ victory over the Warriors, president of basketball operations/general manager Rob Pelinka told a handful of beat reporters the team would likely fill its 15th and final open roster spot after doing its “due diligence”. 

    A few hours later, the Lakers solidified how they wanted to use the roster slot by signing Kobe Bufkin to a two-year contract with a team option for the 2026-27 season in a move that may have gone under the radar since it was first reported late on a Saturday night and became official during Sunday’s Super Bowl.

    While the Lakers could’ve gone in different directions for filling out their roster, signing Bufkin was the right move.

    Lakers predicted to cut ties with controversial $7.9 million former second-round pick in offseason

    The Los Angeles Lakers completed an early Sunday signing that many likely missed. 

    The 17-time NBA champions signed a 6-foot-4 guard who’s been electric with Los Angeles’ G-League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers. 

    Lake Show Life’s Tyler Watts believes that the addition of Bufkin ‘all but guarantees’ that the Lakers will cut ties with a controversial 6-foot-2 former second-round pick when the offseason arrives.

    “Kobe Bufkin's signing all but guarantees Bronny James departure in the offseason,” Watts wrote Sunday.

    “Bufkin’s two-year contract features a team option, so the Lakers can quickly move on. The 6-foot-4 guard has his shot to prove he belongs for the rest of this season, but his play doesn’t impact Bronny.”

    Wellington calling for Victory Men

    Melbourne Victory visit Wellington Phoenix in Round 16 of the Isuzu UTE A-League on Friday, February 6, kick-off 5pm AEDT.
