The federal government is cutting the tax rate on income between $18,201 and $45,000 from 16 per cent to 15 per cent from today.

The tax brackets will remain the same, but the rates will now look like this:

Global neuroscience experts say the statistics are alarming and need to be urgently addressed by the AFL.

The AFL says the health and safety of its players are its top priority and is set to limit physical contact in training sessions at the start of the 2027 pre-season.

Thirty-three Australian Rules players, including 19 professional and semi-professional footballers, have been diagnosed with the degenerative brain disease chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), exposing the scale of the AFL's brain trauma crisis.

They didn't know what footy was doing to their boy. 'Now it's too late'

Growing up, Nick Lowden always had a footy in hand. He relished the rough and tumble of a hard-fought game. Like many kids, he dreamt of making it big.

His parents, Kerry and Tony, could see their boy was talented, a team player and that the AFL was within reach.

What they couldn't see, what no-one could, was what the sport he loved was doing to his brain. The knocks, bumps, hits and collisions were adding up.

Nick Lowden died at 23. He is the youngest Aussie rules player to be diagnosed with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).

Court Rules Multi-Level Investment Returns Taxable as Interest Income

Court: Plaintiffs Received Fixed Returns Without Sales Risk

A court has ruled that imposing comprehensive income tax on returns from multi-level investment schemes as interest income is justified.

According to legal sources Friday, the Fourth Administrative Division of the Seoul Administrative Court, presided over by Judge Kim Young-min, ruled in March against the plaintiffs in a lawsuit filed by three individuals, including a person identified as A, against the heads of the Gangseo, Banpo, and Seongbuk tax offices, seeking to overturn comprehensive income tax assessments.

A and the other plaintiffs had entrusted money to cosmetics sales company B as investment funds and received returns. Tax authorities determined that their returns constituted interest income and imposed comprehensive income taxes of 40 million won, 24 million won, and 9 million won, respectively. The plaintiffs filed an administrative lawsuit seeking to overturn the assessments, arguing that the money was "business income earned through joint purchasing and consignment sales of cosmetics."

Court: Profits from Multi-Level 'Ponzi Scheme' Are Interest Income… Comprehensive Income Tax Imposition Justified

A court has ruled that profits earned by investing in multi-level pseudo-deposit-taking companies constitute interest income rather than business income. Therefore, the tax authorities’ decision to impose comprehensive income tax on such profits was deemed lawful.

According to the legal community on May 10, the Seoul Administrative Court’s Administrative Division 4 (Presiding Judge Kim Youngmin) recently dismissed the claims of three plaintiffs, including Mr. A, in their lawsuit against the heads of Gangseo, Banpo, and Seongbuk tax offices seeking to cancel the imposition of comprehensive income tax.

Critics of Formula 1's new style of racing and its controversial new cars have "short memories", according to championship CEO Stefano Domenicali.

Formula 1 undertook an unprecedented change to its cars this year, with new aerodynamic designs and new engines.

The engines have been particularly controversial — a near 50/50 split between combustion and electrical power has created a huge focus on to harvesting and deploying battery power throughout qualifying and races.

FIA president issues statement as 'invaluable' F1 driver discussions revealed

The FIA has met with the Formula 1 grid to discuss what needs changing in the current regulations, ahead of a crucial meeting on April 20.

FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem has issued a statement following "invaluable" discussions with current Formula 1 drivers over the 2026 power unit regulations.

The vast majority of the grid has criticised the new 50/50 power unit split, particularly issues such as dangerous closing speeds and lift-and-coast requirements during qualifying.

Meetings were also set to take place after the opening rounds; however, the cancellation of races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia has created a window of opportunity not only for the talks to happen, but also for proposals to be raised for Miami at the start of May.

UK government quietly updates passport rules for dual citizens — again

Further changes have been made to rules for dual Australian-British citizens wanting to enter the UK.  (ABC News: Billy Cooper)

The UK government has updated its guidance for British and Irish dual nationals.

Travellers who hold both an expired UK passport as well as a valid passport from a country that's eligible for an Electronic Travel Authorisation may now be able to enter the UK.

The new rules will come into effect from Wednesday and are at the discretion of airlines and other carriers.

British and Irish dual nationals may be able to use their expired British passports, along with a valid second passport, to enter the United Kingdom under new temporary measures — but only at the discretion of airlines and other carriers.

New border rules for British dual nationals need to be quickly shut down, say Lib Dems

Letter to Shabana Mahmood describes controls that could block British dual citizens’ entry to UK as ‘unacceptable’

The Liberal Democrats have called on the home secretary to “move at speed” to delay the rollout of new border controls that could result in British dual nationals being blocked from entering the country.

A letter sent by the party to Shabana Mahmood echoes one sent by the former Conservative cabinet minister David Davis on Friday asking for a grace period to be implemented urgently after one of his constituents living in the Netherlands told how she could no longer visit her dying mother in a care home in Yorkshire.

Qantas to accept dual citizens’ expired UK passports

Add articles to your saved list and come back to them anytime.

Qantas said it will temporarily accept expired British passports from dual Anglo-Australian citizens boarding flights for the UK, when that country’s new visa rules come into effect on Wednesday.

The Australian flagship carrier said it would follow advice from the UK government and accept expired passports – from 1989 or later – from dual citizens if they don’t have the current British passport required under the rule change for dual citizens to use for entry to Britain and Ireland.

Effective on February 25, Australian citizens – who are also British or Irish dual nationals by descent – can no longer travel to the UK without a current British or Irish passport.
