Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 launch date leaks

Samsung's next bundle of foldable devices may have just gotten a launch date.

A new report by the Korea Economic Times (via 9to5google) claims that Samsung will hold its next Galaxy Unpacked event in London on July 22.

Galaxy Unpacked is Samsung's regular series of product announcement livestreams, usually devoted to flagship mobile devices. There's usually a Galaxy Unpacked event early in the year and another in the summer; the early one happened in February, and now it seems the later one will happen near the end of July, if this report is correct.

As for which devices will make their debut in July, expect a lot of foldables.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide Is Shorter, Wider, and Exactly What We Wanted

Samsung’s rumored Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is poised to make a significant impact on the foldable smartphone market. By addressing persistent design challenges and emphasizing practicality and usability, this device could set a new standard for foldable technology. With a potential 4:3 aspect ratio and seamless display transitions, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide may shift the focus from experimental designs to a more user-centric approach, offering a refined experience for both tech enthusiasts and everyday users.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide’s rumored 4:3 aspect ratio stands out as a key feature. This wider, more rectangular design is expected to deliver a screen experience closer to that of a tablet, such as the iPad, making it ideal for multitasking and media consumption. Unlike the narrower displays of earlier foldable models, this aspect ratio could make activities like reading, typing and streaming more intuitive and comfortable. For users, this design promises fewer compromises in daily tasks, whether you’re drafting emails, editing documents, or enjoying your favorite shows.

[News] Samsung, SK hynix Escape Worst-Case as China VEU Ends: Annual Review Risks Loom

TrendForce News operates independently from our research team, curating key semiconductor and tech updates to support timely, informed decisions.

With the U.S.’s VEU (Validated End User) designation for Samsung and SK hynix in China expiring December 31, 2025, the potential impact on the memory giants’ operations is drawing close scrutiny. According to Hankyung, the companies have avoided the worst-case scenario, as the U.S. will now permit equipment shipments under an annual review system.

First reported by Bloomberg in September, the U.S. Commerce Department proposed a “site license” plan to Korean officials under this system, replacing the indefinite authorizations previously granted to Samsung Electronics’ Xi’an NAND fab and SK Hynix’s Wuxi DRAM and Dalian NAND facilities.

If the February timeline holds, it means you won't be able to buy the Galaxy S26 lineup till March 2026.

Samsung may be rethinking the timing of its next flagship launch. Reports indicate the company is planning a Galaxy Unpacked event in February 2026, a shift from the January window it has stuck to in recent years. If that timeline holds, it would mark a subtle but meaningful change in how Samsung rolls out its most important phones.

According to reports citing South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency, the event is expected to take place in San Francisco. For comparison, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 series on January 22 this year. Moving Unpacked into February would suggest a slower, more deliberate cadence heading into 2026.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus leak claims its screen size will match the Ultra — wait, what?

Between the ongoing RAM crisis and the failure of the Galaxy S25 Edge, it's been suggested that next year’s Galaxy S26 lineup will receive minor updates. However, a new leak suggests that the Plus model could be in for a bigger shakeup than we previously thought.

The leak comes from Tech Informer on Facebook who released an infographic highlighting specs for all three S26 phones. Several of the included upgrades are ones we’ve been expecting like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, though Tech Informer hedges its bets by adding ‘or Exynos 2600.’

There are some other things of note too like the hint that Samsung could increase the Plus model’s screen size from 6.7 to 6.9 inches, matching the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Sneakily, even the vanilla Galaxy S26 looks to be getting a little bigger with a 6.3 inch display, which is slightly larger than the 6.2 inch AMOLED on the Galaxy S25.
