Drive through Yackandandah on a clear day, and you'll notice the rooftops before anything else. House after house topped with solar panels.

On the main street of this small tourist town in Victoria's north-east, Teslas and Nissan Leafs are parked outside the pie shop.

There's a community-owned electric vehicle charger around the corner, funded by the town's own petrol station. The postie delivers his mail on an electric bike. You might even spot a car driving around with a solar panel mounted on its roof.

"When you go through Yackandandah, there's the bottom garage, it's called Yackandandah Motors. That's what it used to be called, and that was my garage for many years, and before that it was my father's garage. So I grew up looking after agricultural equipment, fixing cars, trucks out the front that would break down on the way to market with cows inside, pissing on me while I was under the truck and whatnot. So that has been where I came from."

Multichannel Survey 2026: VICELAND / SBS Food / World Movies / Worldwatch / NITV

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people should be aware that this post contains names of deceased persons.

SBS remains the only broadcaster with a bumper 5 multichannels catering to different genres and demos, including with a high number of commissions thanks to NITV.

Since the last survey, SBS has made few changes, but SBS VICELAND will revert to SBS2 in August -content is yet to be revealed.

SBS WorldWatch has a notable lack of Australian content. Even though its focus is on international news, the channel broadcast SBS عربي News (Arabic) and SBS 中文 News (Mandarin) until 2024.

Brand Identity: National Indigenous Television (NITV) is Australia’s leading platform for First Nations storytelling and home to the only national daily Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander television news service. NITV helps all Australians to connect with First Nations peoples, cultures and histories. Whether news and current affairs, documentary, drama, entertainment or sport, NITV is created by and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, available to all Australians.

A stiff dose of ‘weak sauce’: Paul Dano’s best films – ranked!

After Quentin Tarantino’s unfavourable comments about the actor’s performance in films including There Will Be Blood, we run through the roles that show just how potent he really is

This disquieting narrative debut from the British director James Marsh (The Theory of Everything) is a kind of minor Cape Fear. Gael García Bernal plays a sociopathic outsider threatening the apparently perfect life of his long-lost preacher father (William Hurt). In what now looks like a dry run for There Will Be Blood, Dano is the earnest son campaigning for creationism to be taught at school, and sideswiped by the emergence of his sinister half-brother. Variety labelled the film “noxious”. It’s undoubtedly nasty, but Dano helps to lend it a pulse.

Quentin Tarantino Slams Paul Dano as the ‘Weakest F—ing Actor in SAG’ and the ‘Giant Flaw’ in ‘There Will Be Blood,’ Igniting Fan Outrage

Quentin Tarantino is drawing outrage from movie fans on social media for bashing Paul Dano on “The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast,” where the Oscar-winning director revealed his picks for the best movies of the 21st century so far. Paul Thomas Anderson’s “There Will Be Blood” was Tarantino’s No. 5 pick. However, he said the movie could’ve ranked in the first or second slots “if it didn’t have a big, giant flaw in it… and the flaw is Paul Dano.”

“Obviously, it’s supposed to be a two-hander. But it’s also drastically obvious that it’s not a two-hander,” Tarantino said. “[Dano] is weak sauce, man. He is the weak sister. [Daniel] is eating him [alive]. Austin Butler would have been wonderful in that role. He’s just such a weak, weak, uninteresting guy. Daniel Day-Lewis shows that he doesn’t need a strong foil. The movie needs it. He doesn’t need anything. It’s supposed to be a two-hander and it’s not! … you put him with the the weakest fucking actor in SAG? The limpest dick in the world?”

On Thursday, December 4, and Tuesday, December 9, writer and director Quentin Tarantino was fatally owned in a double-tap strike by comedy mercenary Zach Woods. Woods’s vigilante justice was a response to Tarantino’s unwarranted and reality-divorced criticism of Paul Dano on The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast, where the Kill Bill director called Dano “the weakest fucking actor in SAG.” The comments galvanized seemingly half of Hollywood to unite, “We Are the World” style, in support of Dano and his acting abilities, with even Daniel Day-Lewis coming out of the Reynolds woodwork to protect his boy Eli. But no one’s defense of Dano has been quite as artful and poetic as Woods’s ad hominem eviscerations of Tarantino.
