A classy century from Ollie Peake has headlined Australia’s tight 22-run win against the West Indies overnight on Wednesday, with the reigning champions remaining undefeated heading into the semi-finals.

After losing the toss and being sent in to bat first for the first time this tournament, opener Will Malajczuk unsurprisingly came out of the blocks firing to put Australia in front of the eight-ball from the outset.

Despite seaming conditions with the new ball on an initialy tacky Harare pitch, the Western Australian prodigy boomed a pair of cover drives to the boundary inside his first 10 balls, after a few nervous plays-and-misses outside off stump to begin his innings.

After making quite a name for himself in the Big Bash, rising Australian star OIlie Peake has now steered his national teenage team into the semi-finals of the Under-19 World Cup with a captain's century against the West Indies in Zimbabwe.

Geelong prospect Peake's 109 off 117 balls proved the keystone of the defending champions' win at the Harare Sports Club but he was quicker to praise his bowlers holding their nerve as the Windies gave his unbeaten side a real scare before succumbing by 22 runs.

Turner's 99 not-out saves Scorchers as Thunder crumble

Perth rarely looked troubled thanks to a phenomenal innings from their skipper before Cooper Connolly's double strike added the finishing touches

Ashton Turner entered one of the BBL's unluckiest clubs as he helped revive Perth's season in leading the Scorchers to a 71-run win over the Sydney Thunder.

After coming to the wicket with the visitors 3-34 in the sixth over, Turner blasted an unbeaten 99 to take his side to 8-202 at Engie Stadium.

Matthew Gilkes and Sam Konstas combine for epic catch as Ashton Turner powers Scorchers to big win

Ashton Turner joined one of the Big Bash’s unluckiest clubs as he helped revive Perth’s season, his unbeaten 99 leading the Scorchers to a 71-run win over the Sydney Thunder.

After coming to the wicket with the visitors 3-34 in the sixth over, Turner became just the fourth player in BBL history to be stranded on 99no as he took his side to 8-202 at ENGIE Stadium.

The Thunder were then bowled out for 131 in reply in the 18th over, with the hosts unable to capitalise on a hot start from David Warner (25) and Matthew Gilkes (33).

Turner’s massive innings overshadowed a catch of the tournament contender. On the final ball of the Scorchers’ first innings, Matthew Gilkes and Sam Konstas combined brilliantly on the rope to remove Joel Paris for a golden duck.
