Trump says he had 'no idea' Anthropic's Amodei met with White House about Mythos

The White House said its meeting with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei was "productive and constructive" on Friday, the latest sign of a potential thaw in the standoff between the government and the leading artificial intelligence company.

But when President Donald Trump was asked about Amodei's visit on a runway in Phoenix, Ariz., he responded, "Who?" and then said he had "no idea."

Amodei met with Susie Wiles, the White House chief of staff, and other senior administration officials to talk about the company's powerful new Mythos model, which was announced earlier this month. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent was one of the officials in attendance, according to a source familiar with the matter who asked not to be named because the meeting was private.

White House and Anthropic Hold ‘Productive’ Meeting, Aiming for a Compromise

Friday’s meeting at the White House followed the introduction of Anthropic’s powerful new artificial intelligence model, Mythos, which U.S. officials believe could be critical for security.

Julian E. Barnes and Tyler Pager reported from Washington and Sheera Frenkel reported from San Francisco.

Anthropic’s chief executive met with White House officials on Friday for discussions that both sides described as “productive,” as the Trump administration works to forge a compromise that would bring the artificial intelligence company’s technology back into the government, according to U.S. officials and others briefed on the matter.

Dario Amodei, Anthropic’s chief executive, met with the White House chief of staff, Susie Wiles, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and others at the White House, the people said.

CEO of blacklisted Anthropic is going to the White House

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei visited the White House on Friday for a high-stakes meeting with the president’s top adviser, while his AI company battles the Trump administration in court for blacklisting its Claude AI model.

Amodei met with White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, two sources familiar with the meeting told CNN. Axios first reported on the meeting.

The meeting took place as the US government is trying to balance its hardline approach to Anthropic with the national security implications of turning its back on the company’s breakthrough technology – including its Mythos tool that can identify cybersecurity threats but also present a roadmap for hackers to attack companies or the government.

The announcement, posted directly on X by the Ministry, was accompanied by a safety advisory from Qatar’s Interior Ministry urging operators to ensure all navigation systems and life-saving equipment are fully functional before departure.

“Maybe it’s my competitive nature, I want a guy who other girls want.”

“For every person I’ve ever been with, it has always been a part of foreplay,” she said, adding, “When it comes to my relationship, I just don’t have jealousy over him getting close to other women.”

She continued: “I understand how sex is for men most of the time outside of a relationship. It's just kind of transactional, and it's just like, they just wanna nut, and it's not about like, ‘I wanna spend my life with this woman.’”

“I was like, I need you to go out there and just have a flirty moment with someone,” she remembered, admitting that she initially felt a bit "weird" about asking. “Maybe it's my competitive nature, I want a guy who other girls want.”

“It’s what I was interested in and people would … often dismiss female comics because all they do is talk about their vaginas and sex and it’s so easy,” Glaser, 41, said on the Wednesday, April 8, episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast. “It’s easy for me to talk about that, but why would you want me to do something that’s not easy? Do you want to see Paul McCartney play pickleball or something that’s hard for him? Don’t you wanna see him do what’s easy for, you know, a musician to play?”

Adam Back says he is not Bitcoin founder Satoshi Nakamoto

A British Bitcoin entrepreneur has told the BBC he is not the digital currency's mysterious inventor after a New York Times article named him as its creator.

Adam Back, a prominent Bitcoin developer, said the high-profile investigation was a case of "confirmation bias" and that he is not the person known as Satoshi Nakamoto.

The true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto is one of the internet's most enduring mysteries and Back has been accused of being Satoshi many times before.

But Back told the BBC on X: "I'm not satoshi, but I was early in laser focus on the positive societal implications of cryptography, online privacy and electronic cash."

Mitch Moses has doubled down on Parramatta coach Jason Ryles' warning that the speed of the NRL will lead to more players being injured by hip-drop tackles from tired defenders.

Days after the Eels lost a second player to a long-term injury from the illegal tackle, Moses maintained the speed of the game was to blame for the situation.

Scott Sorensen says this teammate must be picked for Origin

Premiership-winning Panthers forward Scott Sorensen is demanding Laurie Daley select unsung teammate and dummy half Mitch Kenny in the NSW Blues team this year.

The extraordinary call comes just days after 28-year-old Kenny was suspended for this Friday’s blockbuster against Melbourne following a hip-drop tackle on Eels fullback Isaiah Iongi last weekend.

Speaking with the Weekender prior to the Good Friday clash at CommBank Stadium, the experienced backrower said the Panthers are going to miss Kenny dearly against the Storm.

“To be honest, I’m actually really glad you asked about him,” Sorensen began.

“I feel like Mitch doesn’t get the praise that he deserves. He has been an absolute warrior for our side for so long. The way he is leading our team at training, the way he is leading our team on the park – he’s taken his game to the next level.”

    Kenny accepts early plea

Penrith Panthers hooker Mitch Kenny has accepted an early guilty plea after being charged by the NRL Match Review Committee following Saturday night’s Round 4 clash against the Parramatta Eels at CommBank Stadium.

Kenny was hit with a grade two dangerous contact charge for an incident involving Eels fullback Isaiah Iongi in the second half of the match.

By taking the early plea, Kenny will serve a one-match suspension, ruling him out of this week's game against the Melbourne Storm.

Penrith Panthers players and staff respect and honour the traditional custodians of the land and pay our respects to their elders past, present and future. We acknowledge the stories, traditions and living cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples on the lands we meet, gather and play on.

'No point sooking': Star Blue says players need to lift, support Voss

Sam Walsh admits his side needs to create habits that last four quarters if they're to turn their season around

CARLTON vice-captain Sam Walsh says his teammates are right behind coach Michael Voss amid a fierce spotlight on the second-half fade-outs that continue to hurt the under-fire AFL side.

The Blues (1-2) threw away a 43-point lead in their last-start loss to Melbourne and have not won a quarter after half-time in any of their three outings this season.

The horror form has brought more heat on fifth-year coach Voss after he was backed by the club last August to at least see out the final season of his contract in 2026.

‘I would just quit’: Blues great says Voss faces the axe

Add articles to your saved list and come back to them anytime.

Former Carlton star Brendan Fevola has taken aim at the Blues, declaring they are hopeless and Michael Voss should quit if they lose to North Melbourne on Good Friday.

Voss, in his fifth season in charge, is again under enormous pressure after the Blues squandered a 43-point lead to Melbourne on Sunday to lose by 23 points.

The Blues have only one win from their opening three games, their defensive woes over the past year continuing to haunt a team which club bosses declared at the weekend was gunning for the finals.

Kysaiah Pickett has earned top votes for his inspired Round 3 performance

KYSAIAH Pickett proved crucial in Melbourne's gritty comeback win on Sunday, his performance earning him top votes from the AFL coaches.

Pickett finished the game with a career-high 33 disposals, 10 score involvements and 834 metres gained, spurring on the Dees to a memorable 23-point win. Melbourne skipper Max Gawn and defensive stalwart Jake Lever also received recognition for their inspired games, polling six votes each in the race for the AFLCA Champion Player.

In the Dees' historic fight to the final siren, Jack Steele (four votes), Bayley Fritsch (two votes) and Tom Sparrow (one votes) were also instrumental.

Federal politics: PM says he's in contact with South-East Asian partners over fuel security — as it happened

The prime minister says he is in contact with South-East Asian partners over fuel security as the war in the Middle East continues.

Meanwhile, the Coalition has called for the federal government to slash the fuel excise and road user charge to alleviate the cost of petrol prices for consumers.

Australian petrol stations report 25% surge in demand as governments plan for ‘biggest energy crisis in history’

Petrol stations are reporting a surge in demand of up to 25% in the past fortnight alone on top of already major spikes earlier in the Iran war as Anthony Albanese comes under pressure to devise a national plan to cushion Australia against the “biggest energy crisis in history”.

The Australasian Convenience and Petroleum Marketers Association has revealed the scale of the demand on retailers, which has left hundreds of stations across the country without one or more types of fuel.

Albanese’s next step must address the fuel crisis and assure the public

Add articles to your saved list and come back to them anytime.

Rule No.1 in politics is that leaders should always project capability and certainty, even in the most uncertain times. When COVID-19 reached our shores, public anxiety about lockdowns and supply chains resulted in consumers stockpiling toilet paper, pasta, meat, baby formula and paracetamol.

The pandemic was a global event, its causes and effects ranging far beyond the capabilities of any single nation’s leadership to control. At that point, the power of federal and state governments to reassure became particularly important.

The decision of the United States and Israel to wage war on Iran, and Iran’s decision to restrict tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation, have already hit our economy hard, despite Australia having had no input into either one (though perhaps Prime Minister Anthony Albanese might have hoped for some sort of warning from our closest security ally of its intentions).

Kanye West Says His New Album Bully Uses “No AI”

Kanye West has rebuked claims that his long-teased next album, Bully, was made with the help of AI. In an X post shared on Wednesday, March 25, the rapper revealed a track list for the album—which features 13 songs, including previously previewed tracks “Beauty and the Beast” and “Preacher Man”—with the caption “BULLY ON THE WAY NO AI.”

The post contradicts statements West made last year in an interview with Justin LaBoy. At the time, West told LaBoy that he incorporated AI into his writing and recording process “the same way I incorporated Auto-Tune. It’s a tool, not a replacement.” In a video that accompanied the conversation, some viewers noticed that West was using the platform Audimee, which allows users to transform their vocals using AI, royalty-free.

Album Review: BULLY by Kanye West (Ye)

A man who used to go by Kanye West takes out a full-page newspaper ad to explain, in public, that a brain injury has been driving years of antisemitic tirades and swastika merch and manic implosions. He names the diagnosis (bipolar type 1, stemming from a car wreck twenty-four years ago) and credits his wife and inpatient treatment in Switzerland with pulling him back. The ad ran in the Wall Street Journal, and it read like someone who genuinely needed help had finally gotten it. Then the album came out, and almost none of that weight shows up in the music. BULLY is Ye’s twelfth studio LP and his first solo record since Donda, and the gap between the seriousness of his public confession and the thinness of these songs is staggering. His team swore the deepfake vocals from earlier versions were gone. They shipped vinyl with the AI still on “Preacher Man” anyway. And even on the tracks where Ye is apparently singing with his own voice, the Auto-Tune is caked on so thick that the question isn’t whether he used Suno (it’s Audimee)—it’s whether it would matter if he had.

Kanye West 'Bully' album: Will Ye finally drop the album on time?

Kanye West has delayed his most anticipated album, Bully, several times, leading fans to doubt him when he says it will drop today.

This mistrust is quite visible on the prediction platform, where longtime Ye watchers are playing a guessing game, raising questions about whether he will actually drop the album on time.

On Polymarket, the odds are 56% that the Chicago rapper will release his album on the official date, i.e., March 27.

But a whopping 79% has wagered on April 3 as a date for the Grammy winner to drop Bully.

However, West, contrary to popular thinking in the betting market, has released a list of his tracks featured on Bully.

The White House insists talks to end the war with Iran are continuing, despite conflicting reports over Iran's response to a US ceasefire proposal.

Speaking at the White House, press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters that the US was "very close" to meeting its "core objectives" and that Tehran was seeking an "exit ramp".

The comments come amid a series of conflicting reports about Iran's response to a 15-point ceasefire proposal sent by the Trump administration earlier this week to Iran via Pakistani intermediaries.
