The Scorchers have secured top spot ahead of the BBL|15 finals as one of its leading lights returns to his best

Perth Scorchers pace ace Jhye Richardson is confident he will be able to approach speeds of 150km/h in the not-too-distant future, but says it's merely a relief to be swinging the ball again.

Richardson was the star of the show on Saturday night, snaring 4-16 from 3.2 overs to lead the Scorchers to a six-wicket win over the Melbourne Stars.

The result locked up top spot for the Scorchers, who are guaranteed two home finals, starting with the first-versus-second Qualifier on Tuesday at Optus Stadium.

    Perth Scorchers 153 for 8 (Marsh 37, Fanning 31, Pope 4-23, Shamsi 3-30) beat Adelaide Strikers 120 (Scott 33, Short 31, Paris 3-22, Turner 2-1) by 33 runs

Veteran fast bowler Joel Paris has inspired a late fightback as Perth Scorchers overcame an all-out spin assault to post a fighting 33-run win over the Adelaide Strikers at Optus Stadium.

Tabraiz Shamsi unleashed his trademark shoe celebration and Lloyd Pope starred as Strikers spun a web of magic in Perth to restrict the Scorchers to 153 for 8. In reply, Strikers were on track for victory at 48 for 1 and 86 for 4 before Paris sparked a big collapse.

Big Bash League: Perth Scorchers quick Joel Paris proud of spinners but says Optus Stadium still pace friendly

Perth Scorchers quick Joel Paris admits there’s a perception the five-time champions have a weakness against spin, especially at Optus Stadium, after Adelaide Strikers played four tweakers on Sunday night.

The Strikers bowled 16 straight overs of spin to brilliant effect, including a stretch of 3-2 inside seven balls that saw the Scorchers muddle through to a below-par 8-153 despite the openers putting on 72 runs.

They were even so eager to put Perth through a spin trail they sent out an SOS message to South African veteran Tabraiz Shamsi to join the squad from the UAE a game early.

However, as much as Perth struggled, the visitors fared just as poorly.

Perth's seven-wicket win over Brisbane Heat has guaranteed the Scorchers a spot in this year's WBBL finals.

Perth's win also ensured that the Renegades would be unable to defend their title, and left Brisbane with the first winless season in the competition's history.

The winner of the Sydney Sixers-Adelaide Strikers game on Sunday will take the final spot in the top four.

Beth Mooney has led Perth back into the WBBL finals, executing the perfect chase against Brisbane and ending Melbourne Renegades's title defence in the process.

    UNCHANGED SQUAD FOR HEAT

The WBBL Brisbane Heat have named an unchanged squad of 13 for tomorrow’s final regular season match against the Perth Scorchers at the WACA.

Allrounders Chinelle Henry and Sianna Ginger were both cleared to play despite being hit in the helmet in the Heat’s 23-run loss to the Sydney Thunder at Drummoyne Oval on Wednesday night.

Teenage allrounder Lily Bassingthwaighte made her WBBL debut against the Thunder, the fifth first-gamer for Brisbane this season.

Local Replacement Player Catherine White and pace bowler Bonnie Berry would make their WBBL debuts if included in the starting team at the bat flip tomorrow.

Perth Scorchers 165 for 3 (Mooney 94*, Glenn 2-46) beat Brisbane Heat 164 for 7 (Redmayne 57, Mills 2-23) by seven wickets

Beth Mooney has led Perth Scorchers back into the WBBL finals, executing the perfect chase against Brisbane Heat and ending Melbourne Renegades' title defence in the process.

Needing 165 for victory in a must-win game at the WACA on Saturday, Mooney hit an unbeaten 94 from 61 to help Perth reach the target with seven wickets and four balls to spare. The victory ensured the Scorchers would have a home final, knocked the Renegades out of the top four and handed the Heat the first winless season in WBBL history.
