Sri Lanka's selection process has been in the spotlight ahead of the start of their T20I series against England. Less than two weeks out from the T20 World Cup, certain decisions taken by the new selection committee, headed by Pramodya Wickramasinghe, have raised eyebrows.
One of them is the return of Kusal Perera, who had been dropped for the Pakistan series earlier this month, with Kamindu Mendis making way for him. Neither player has set the T20 stage alight of late. But replacing a batting allrounder capable of bowling spin with either hand – as well as an outstanding fielder – with a 35-year-old batter going through a prolonged dry patch is certainly a contentious choice.
Sri Lanka and England will face off in a three-T20I series from January 30. Here's where to watch the series live, including TV channels and live streaming.
England had a hard-fought win in the three-match ODI series that began this tour, snapping Sri Lanka's streak of 12 successive home ODI series wins. The focus now turns to the shortest format, with the upcoming series serving as preparation for the T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, which begins on February 7.
Sri Lankan fans can catch the series on Ten Cricket (ch.317), or on the Sony Sports network; Sony Sports 5 (ch.318), Sony Sports 2 (ch.319) and Sony Sports (ch.320).

Pavan Rathnayake has made a noteworthy return to Sri Lanka’s T20I squad following his impressive performance in the third ODI against England. After scoring 121 runs off 115 balls, his inclusion is a significant boost for the team.
In contrast, fast bowler Nuwan Thushara, batting all-rounder Kamindu Mendis, and leg-spinner Dushan Hemantha have been excluded from the squad. This marks a notable shift considering Thushara’s consistent presence over the last two years.
Despite not having played a T20I since September, Dunith Wellalage retains his spot. The spin department is strengthened by the presence of Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga. Also included are finger-spin bowlers Dhananjaya de Silva and Charith Asalanka.
