Seattle Shooting: Two people killed in deadly shooting at US food festival

Two people have been killed and several more injured in a shooting at a food festival in Seattle, on the US west coast.

The shooting happened a block from the city’s iconic Space Needle, fire officials said, on Sunday night local time (Monday AEST).

The Seattle Fire Department said it responded to reports of a shooting at the Seattle Centre just after 6pm.

The shooting happened at the annual Bite of Seattle festival, which featured hundreds of local vendors and live music performances.

Two people were declared dead at the scene and four others, including a two-year-old child, were rushed to hospital, the department said in a statement.

Carlingford shooting: Sydney driveway shooting targeted, police say

A man shot dead while sitting in a car in a driveway Sydney’s north-west may have been killed hours before it was reported to police.

Emergency services were called to the scene on North Rocks Road, Carlingford, shortly after 7am.

Police found a man aged in his 30s inside a car.

He had suffered significant gunshot wounds and died at the scene.

North Rocks Road has been closed and the public is urged to avoid the area.

Neighbours told reporters at the scene that potential gunshot noises had been heard around 5am.

A man has died after being shot in what police called a "brazen attack" in Carlingford in Sydney's north-west.

Police found the man aged in his 30s in a car with significant injuries and he died at the scene.

Acting Superintendent Michael Marinello said investigators believed it was not a "random attack".

NSW Police says there is no ongoing threat to the public after a man was shot dead in a "very brazen attack" in Sydney's north-west.

Members of the public called emergency services to a house on North Rocks Road in Carlingford shortly after 7am about reports of a shooting.

Man shot dead outside Sydney home in targeted attack

A man has been shot dead outside a Sydney home in what police say was a targeted attack, as detectives investigate if the brazen killing is linked to organised crime.

A member of the public found the man, believed to be aged in his 30s, suffering several gunshot wounds in a car parked outside a Carlingford home shortly after 7am on Wednesday. He died at the scene.

The man, who is known to police, is yet to be formally identified. No arrests have been made.

North Rocks Road has been closed and the public are advised to avoid the area.

A man has been arrested, accused of firing shots outside R&B singer Chris Brown's Los Angeles home.

Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to the Tarzana neighbourhood at around 4.11pm on Friday following reports that the 35-year-old suspect allegedly fired at a woman's vehicle following an argument.

"Yesterday around 4:11pm, LAPD officers from the West Valley division responded to the 19600 block of Citrus Ridge Drive to reports of a shooting that had just occurred," a police spokesperson told Complex.

Man arrested after shooting outside singer Chris Brown's Tarzana home, LAPD says

TARZANA, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Shots were fired outside of singer Chris Brown's Tarzana home on Friday, according to Los Angeles police.

It happened just after 4 p.m. LAPD said the suspect and victim became involved in a dispute, and that's when the suspect pulled out a "CO2-style handgun" and fired at the victim.

Jail records show police arrested a man named Markeith Cungious. He was booked for assault with a deadly weapon that is not a firearm.

Investigators don't know if Brown was home at the time of the shooting or if he knows the people involved.

The incident comes after a shooting at Rihanna's house in March.

There haven't been many surprises in the first week of the 2026 NBA postseason. The No. 7 and 8 teams in each conference advanced through the play-in tournament. In the first weekend of the true playoffs, home teams won seven of the eight Game 1s — and by an average of 17.7 points. Only one game all weekend was decided by single digits.

But that single-digit game was a semi-surprise, as the fourth-seeded Los Angeles Lakers defeated the fifth-seeded Houston Rockets. Even with Houston's leading scorer, Kevin Durant, missing Game 1, the Lakers were underdogs at home because they were missing their top two scorers in Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.

Lakers make winning start as NBA play-offs begin

LeBron James is looking for a fifth NBA championship of his career

The Los Angeles Lakers shrugged off their injury worries to make a winning start to the NBA play-offs.

The 18-time champions were without key players Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves and Maxi Kleber but 41-year-old LeBron James produced another fine display in a 107-98 win over the Houston Rockets.

The Cleveland Cavaliers, Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks were the other winners on day one of the play-offs, while the Phoenix Suns and Orlando Magic won the play-in tournament to book their places.

James controlled the floor while racking up 19 points, 13 assists and eight rebounds against a Houston side who lost key man Kevin Durant to injury just before play started.

4 injured, 2 arrested during shooting at fast food restaurant

MONTICELLO, Miss. (WLBT) – Four people were injured during a shooting at a Sonic in Monticello.

According to the Monticello Police Department, officers received a call regarding an active shooter around 10:58 a.m. on Monday.

Officers from the Monticello Police Department and deputies from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, where four people were found injured with gunshot wounds.

Multiple other businesses in the area were also struck by gunfire.

Additional arrests are expected as the investigation continues, according to the Monticello Police Department.

The identities of the victims and the people arrested have not been released.

Update: 4 injured in Sonic shooting in Monticello

The incident took place at the Sonic Drive-In on F E Sellers Highway Monday morning, according to Mayor Justin Mullins.

Police Chief Sterling Allen said he received a call of an active shooter at approximately 10:58 a.m., and within minutes MPD officers and Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office deputies were on scene, securing the area and providing aid to the victims.

“During this tragic incident, four individuals were injured by gunfire,” Allen said. “Multiple businesses in the area were also struck by gunfire.”

“At this time, two arrests have been made, with additional arrests expected as the investigation continues,” Allen said in a statement released Tuesday morning.

The Los Angeles Lakers have acquired guard Luke Kennard from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for guard Gabe Vincent and a 2032 second-round pick, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania on Thursday.

Kennard is shooting a career-best 49.7% from 3-point range this season, giving the Lakers a sharpshooter on the wings for Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves and LeBron James.

The Hawks land a veteran guard, create an $11 million trade exception and pick up a draft asset.

Kennard, 29, is a career 44.2% shooter from 3-point range. He's averaging 7.9 points in 46 games this season, his ninth in the NBA.

Lakers Acquire $11 Million Sharpshooter Just Hours Before NBA Trade Deadline

The NBA trade deadline is set for Thursday afternoon, and while everyone is waiting to see what the Milwaukee Bucks will do with superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, several other notable moves have already taken place across the league.

Getting in on the action just hours before the deadline, the Los Angeles Lakers agreed to a deal with the Atlanta Hawks, trading Gabe Vincent and a second-round pick in exchange for sharpshooter Luke Kennard, who is on a one-year, $11 million deal with Atlanta.

The Lakers were in desperate need of shooting, ranking in the bottom half of the league in team three-point percentage, and Kennard brings that skill to the roster — something Vincent had struggled to provide during his time in L.A.
