Popular Baby Food Sold Nationwide Recalled Because It Could Be Contaminated With “Soft Plastic”
Parents, one of your toddler's staple snack foods could be dangerous. Pumpkin Tree announced a recall of its Peter Rabbit Organics Banana & Strawberry fruit purée because of defective packaging. Last week, Pumpkin Tree's packaging supplier recalled its pouches because of an internal packaging defect that may result in a strand of soft plastic contaminating the fruit purée.
If the plastic strand were to detach from inside the pouch, it could pose a choking hazard to small children. The recall does not say whether the plastic could detach, though it does caution parents and caregivers that the fruit purée should "not be eaten or fed to another person." No injuries have been reported, Pumpkin Tree says.
