Price crunch has some servo owners asking: 'Is it really worth doing this?'

As the war in the Middle East sends fuel prices soaring, retail workers are facing a backlash from angry drivers. (ABC News: Adam Kennedy)

The union representing petrol station workers says there has been a spike in reports of abuse from customers since fuel prices started to rise.

Petrol station owners say they're not making money from the fuel price rises and are losing the in-store sales of food, drinks and coffee that they depend on to make a profit.

The Shop, Distributive and Allied Employees Association is surveying workers across Australia to get firmer data on the reported rise in customer aggression and will work with the operators to improve the safety of their workers.

Servo staff cop abuse over fuel prices

Service station operators across Geelong and the Surf Coast are reporting rising levels of abuse amid high petrol prices.

Apco director Peter Anderson said drivers were ‘triggered’ by the Servo Saver app, which was not always updating.

“We’re finding that people are coming in and saying ‘oh the price on the pump’s different to the price on the fuel app’,” he said.

“We’re finding that sometimes people’s phones are not updating, which has been a regular occurrence.

“Sometimes it hasn’t updated for three or four days on their phones.”

He said the Victorian government is not paying any attention to service station owners’ concerns, which he said was disappointing.

DOJ hasn't released some Epstein files related to a woman who made an allegation against Trump

WASHINGTON — The Department of Justice has not released summaries and notes from three separate interviews the FBI conducted with a South Carolina woman who alleged she was a sexual assault victim of Jeffrey Epstein and also made sexual abuse allegations against President Donald Trump, according to an NBC News analysis of the Epstein files and information provided by a source familiar with the investigation.

Those files are also not included in the unredacted collection available for members of Congress to view at the Department of Justice, according to Rep. Robert Garcia, D-Calif., the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee.

US justice department accused of withholding Trump-related Epstein files

The top Democrat on the congressional committee investigating Jeffrey Epstein has accused the US justice department of withholding files containing allegations of sexual abuse of a minor made against President Donald Trump.

Robert Garcia, who sits on the House Oversight Committee, said he had personally viewed documents containing the allegation that had not been made public.

In response, the justice department said "NOTHING has been deleted", adding that documents were withheld only if they were "duplicates, privileged, or part of an ongoing federal investigation".

Trump has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing in relation to the Epstein case and has recently said he has been "totally exonerated".

If you think of Aussie cinematic spectacle, it's not going to take you long to start picturing George Miller and his Mad Max outback maniacs. But don't forget that this is the man who brought us Babe. And Happy Feet.

Taking the dusty motorcade influence and imbuing it with some childlike wonder, Akcelo's global launch film for the Men’s Rugby World Cup 2027 plays out like a toybox version of Miller's savage fantasy, replacing the Doof Warrior and Master Blaster with portable BBQs and oversized chickens.

Chile Depth – Rugby World Cup 2027 Radar

Chilean preparations for Rugby World Cup (RWC) 2027 are well advanced. Having successfully qualified, by beating Samoa emphatically, Chile also managed to end 2025 ranked 17th in the world. This meant mission accomplished as Chile were placed in Band 3, rather than Band 4, for RWC 2027 draw .

2026 is the final full-year before the World Cup. Los Cóndores will compete in the Nations Cup against other teams ranked outside the world’s top 12 as of December, 2025. Players have the opportunity of cementing places on the roster before final preparations begin in 2027. The preparation for that has begun with Selknam providing a critical piece of the puzzle in the upcoming Super Rugby Americas (SRA) 2026.

‘I just needed some time for myself’: Norwegian skier hides in woods after slalom gold heartache

For more than a century of Winter Olympic sport, athletes have dealt with defeat in almost every possible way: tears, tantrums, breaking things, breaking down. On Monday afternoon in Bormio, the Norwegian Atle Lie McGrath processed his grief in a novel way after the men’s slalom gold medal had slipped away. First, he threw his ski poles as far as he could and then he hid in the woods.

“I just needed to get away from everything,” he said. “I thought I would get some peace and quiet, which I didn’t because photographers and police found me out in the woods. I just needed some time for myself.”

Loic Meillard of Switzerland used a strong second run to win the men's slalom Monday, becoming the first men's Swiss ski racer to win the Olympic slalom since 1948.

The event closes out the men's Alpine program at the Milan Cortina Games.

Meillard adds gold to a silver he won in the team combined and bronze from the giant slalom.

Nipah virus: Some Asia airports screen passengers after outbreak in India

An outbreak of the deadly Nipah virus in India's West Bengal state has sparked concern in parts of Asia, with some tightening screening measures at airports.

Thailand has started screening passengers at three airports that receive flights from West Bengal. Nepal has also begun screening arrivals at Kathmandu airport and other land border points with India.

Two cases have been confirmed in West Bengal since December, reportedly in healthcare workers. Some 196 people who were in contact with them have been traced and tested negative for the virus, India's health ministry says.

The virus can spread from animals to humans. It has a high death range – ranging from 40% to 75% – as there is no vaccine or medicine to treat it.

Region on watch as India declares Nipah virus outbreak contained

Several Asian countries have introduced screening measures for arrivals from India, as New Delhi seeks to dampen alarm.

Seeking to dampen alarm in the region, Indian officials have declared that an outbreak of the deadly Nipah virus has been contained.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said late on Tuesday that it has ensured “timely containment” as it confirmed two cases in West Bengal state. Several Asian countries have introduced screening procedures for travellers arriving from India.

The ministry said 196 contacts linked to the confirmed cases had been “identified, traced, monitored, and tested”, with all tests for the virus negative. It said the statement was intended to clarify “speculative and incorrect figures” in the media.

PERTH, Australia — Four-time Grand Slam singles champion Naomi Osaka is feeling under the weather at the United Cup.

After losing her first match for Japan against Greece's Maria Sakkari on Friday, Osaka said she got "really sick" over the holiday period and wasn't operating at 100% during the 6-4, 6-2 loss.

Osaka was coughing at times during the match and appeared to lack energy. She said she likely caught an illness from her 2-year-old daughter Shai.

"I have been dealing with some health stuff, so I'm kind of just happy to be out here right now," Osaka said. "It's not serious, but I'm not operating at the percent that I want to be operating at, which kind of sucks, because I had a really good offseason so I thought I was going to do really well here."

From the outset, Suzy Eddie Izzard wants you to know she’s not too bothered about names and pronouns. “Prefer Suzy, don’t mind Eddie. Everything works. How relaxing is that?”

The 63-year-old’s career has always been as fluid as her onstage persona, leaping from stand-up to screen drama, political campaigning to charity work. At the age of 47, she decided to take up marathon running, and that year she crossed 43 finish lines in 51 days. She’s not one to sit still.
