Crown Princess Leonor of Spain is changing up her look for summer. On August 4, she and her family hosted a dinner for authorities at the Marivent Palace on the island of Mallorca, where the 20-year-old debuted a beachy waves hairdo that captured everyone's attention.

Leonor, who's best known for rocking her blonde hair either straight or in a sleek slick-back pony or bun, surprised everyone on the balmy summer evening rocking her hair in slightly messy, softly textured waves, giving the impression that she had shown up to dinner after a day at the beach. The royal kept her signature middle part and let the trendy beachy waves, which cascaded past her shoulders, frame her face naturally without a blow-out.

Queen Letizia of Spain, her daughters Princess Leonor and Princess Sofia, and her mother-in-law wore one of summer’s most popular shoe styles as they hosted a dinner for authorities at the Marivent Palace on Tuesday in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.

The royals joined King Felipe VI at the event, and the women all wore different variations of metallic gold shoes. Queen Letizia wore a white, striped midi dress by Sybilla featuring elbow-length sleeves and directional sheer striping. While the dress is a new look for her, she paired the garment with a pair of gold Aquazzura sandals she has previously worn.

Summer Reception at the Palacio de Marivent

Queen Sofia, the Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofia joined King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain as they held their traditional Summer Reception at the Palacio de Marivent in Palma de Mallorca on August 4th.

King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain were joined by Queen Sofia, the Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofia as they held their traditional reception at Marivent Palace to a representation of the different sectors and institutions of the society of the Balearic Islands.

This reception, now a regular fixture on the summer calendar in the Balearic capital, brought together around 600 guests. Among those in attendance were representatives of the State, regional and local authorities, as well as prominent members of public and private institutions in the Balearic Islands.

For the first time, FIFA is awarding rings to commemorate a championship. Title-winning teams receiving rings is a tradition in North American sports that dates back to the late 19th century, but something that isn't commonplace in other parts of the world.

FIFA is introducing a champions’ ring at the 2026 World Cup. L’Équipe reports that Unknow Brand, a Lyon jeweller, was picked to create the three-dimensional design.

In a first for football inspired by North American leagues, the winners will receive a ring alongside the trophy on Sunday after Spain face Argentina in the final.

Founded in 2017 by Florian de Launay, Unknow Brand mixes French craft with American influences. Since 2024, France international Vincent Poirier, a former NBA player, has been a shareholder.

Thirty rings will be made for the winning squad and staff. One face will carry the World Cup trophy, the other customised in the champion nation’s colours.

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs side to face the Gold Coast Titans at Accor Stadium has been named.

The Bulldogs will be celebrating Old Boys' Day at Accor Stadium on Saturday afternoon, honouring every single player who has donned the Blue and White since 1935.

A host of former players will be on hand at the match, beginning with a march to Accor Stadium alongside the NRL squad before taking a lap of honour around the ground throughout the day.

Round 2 will also see Bulldogs Members and supporters treated to a double header, with the NRL team playing against the Canberra Raiders at 5:30pm.

Lamine Yamal became Spain's youngest player – and goalscorer – when he made his debut aged 16 years and 57 days in 2023

Injured forward Lamine Yamal has been named in Spain's World Cup squad, which does not feature any Real Madrid players for the first time.

The 18-year-old missed the final month of the season after tearing his left hamstring while playing for Barcelona on 22 April.

"I don't look at one club or another. I don't have that local bias a fan might have. For me, it's more global," said Spain coach Luis de la Fuente.

"The only thing I want is for these footballers to feel proud of representing the national team."

Real Madrid are Spain’s most decorated club, and many of its players have starred for the country at World Cups throughout the competition’s history.

Spain manager Luis de la Fuente named his 26-strong squad in Madrid on Monday. There were eight players from La Liga champions Barcelona, and many representatives from other Spanish top-flight clubs including Atletico Madrid, Athletic Club, Real Sociedad, Celta Vigo and Osasuna.

The ‘de-Spanishification’ of Real Madrid

Slowly, Madrid has stopped having Spanish players in its ranks, which has led Luis de la Fuente to include none for the World Cup.

The rumor became reality. The speculation that Luis de la Fuente was considering leaving every Real Madrid player out of Spain’s next World Cup squad proved to be true: there was not a single Madrid player whose performances during the past season warranted inclusion. That was despite the club’s investment in young talent during the summer of 2025, including Dean Huijsen ($66 million) and Álvaro Carreras ($57 million). Real Madrid’s disappointing campaign ultimately did the rest. Dani Carvajal might have had a chance had he played more minutes during the closing stretch of the season, but any hope disappeared at 12:30 p.m. when the national team coach unveiled the 26-man squad for the tournament in Canada, the United States and Mexico. Only Gonzalo was included among the reinforcement players who will join the group before traveling to North America.
