It's not every day that one of the top players in the NHL refers to his division's playoff race as a "pillow fight," but such was the case this past weekend when Edmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid did so in regard to the 2025-26 Pacific Division.

Saturday was the second time in a three-day stretch that the Pacific teams went winless with six of them in action, which was the immediate cause for McDavid's remarks. From a longer-term standpoint, two Eastern Conference teams that are currently out of playoff position — the New York Islanders and Detroit Red Wings — would be leading the Pacific, and two more — the Philadelphia Flyers and Washington Capitals — would be in second place.

Premier League standings, weekend schedule as Man City hunts Arsenal

The English Premier League title race is heating up with Arsenal clinging to a five-point lead over Manchester City, which has a game in hand.

Arsenal host London rival Chelsea on Sunday in a showdown that also has implications for the Blues' hopes of qualifying for next season's Champions League. Manchester City visits Leeds on Saturday with the ability to apply some major pressure on the Gunners with a win.

Elsewhere in London, Tottenham is just four points off the relegation zone faces a tough test at Craven Cottage against Fulham.

The weekend's action begins on Friday with last-place Wolves hosting Aston Villa, entering the match week in third on 51 points, five behind second-place Manchester City.

Manchester United 2-1 Crystal Palace: Premier League – as it happened

Maxence Lacroix put Palace ahead before being sent off after conceding the penalty from which Bruno Fernandes equalised, then Benjamin Sesko headed the winner

That means we’re all done, so thanks for your company and comments – sorry I couldn’t use them all – and do join Scott Murray for Arsenal v Chelsea.

Morgan Gibbs-White also scored a lovely goal today, a drive from the edge that looked saveable because it didn’t hit the corner. But then you see it from behind him, and the, er, swazz he imparted was frankly obscene.

If you haven’t done already, make sure you see Iwobi’s brilliant and unique finish for Fulham’s second goal. In a strange way, it reminds me of Ronaldinho’s all-timer at Chelsea in 2005.

Lando Norris has match point heading into the penultimate weekend of the Formula 1 season, with the British driver having one hand on a maiden drivers' championship.

Norris enters this weekend's racing in Qatar with a 24-point advantage over his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri, and reigning world champion Max Verstappen.

Despite being in pole position to win the title, Norris is not guaranteed the title and will still need to produce a solid drive to make his championship dream a reality.

Norris on the brink of F1 history; rules twist that could change the championship: Burning Qs

One McLaren driver can win the championship this weekend, but it isn’t Oscar Piastri.

Lando Norris stands on the brink of history. On Sunday he has the chance to become the 35th driver to win a Formula 1 world title.

It’s a remarkable turn of events for the Englishman, who looked down and out of the hunt just eight races ago, when a power unit problem put him 34 points behind his title-leading teammate.

BETTING GUIDE: Who are the favourites for the Qatar Grand Prix?

Check out the odds for who might come out on top in Qatar, from pole position to race victory.

As Formula 1 prepares to race under the lights for the penultimate round of the 2025 season, what do the odds say about who will prevail in Qatar? Read on to find out…

Odds are provided by F1’s Official Betting Data Supplier ALT Sports Data, are subject to change and are presented in decimal form: for every $1 wagered you would win the figure represented by the odds; so, if Verstappen is favourite at 1.50, you would win $1.50 for every dollar bet.

Max Verstappen has endured his toughest campaign since he won his maiden Drivers' Championship back in 2021. However, for a challenging year, his record looks alright. The Dutchman is fresh off his sixth triumph and has put himself very much into the title hunt with two weekends to go. He enters Qatar as the most in-form driver on the grid across the last 10 races, with an average of 2.70 and an 80% top-three return in that period. Adding to his prestige are four wins in his last seven outings.
