    Perth Scorchers have turned to hot prospect paceman Mahli Beardman to replace Jhye Richardson for their Boxing Day blockbuster against Hobart Hurricanes at Optus Stadium.

    It comes as the Hurricanes won the toss and elected to field as both teams hunt for their second win of the season.

    With Richardson in action for Australian in their fourth Ashes Test against England, Scorchers coach Adam Voges has recalled the 20 year-old to the Scorchers’ pace attack.

    Beardman recorded figures of 0-28 from four overs in the Scorchers’ rain-affected opening day win over Sydney Sixers.

    After falling victim to the largest-ever successful run chase in Big Bash history last week against Brisbane, the Scorchers will be eager to make amends in front of their home fans.

    Brooks Koepka has announced he is leaving the LIV Golf Tour after four seasons with the breakaway golf league.

    The star took five titles in the controversial tour and has identified the reason for stepping back from competition as wanting to spend "more time at home."

    The 35-year-old has three PGA Championships and two US Opens and in 2022, signed the third-highest contract to join LIV Golf with a $130 million ($194m AUD) contract.

    One of LIV Golf's most high-profile names has left the tour. Five-time major winner Brooks Koepka announced Tuesday that he will no longer play for LIV Golf or captain Smash GC, his now former LIV Golf team.

    "Brooks Koepka will be stepping away from LIV Golf," Koepka's representatives said in a statement. "He is deeply grateful to Yasir Al-Rumayyan, Scott O’Neil, and the LIV Golf leadership team, his teammates, and the fans. Family has always guided Brooks’s decisions, and he feels this is the right moment to spend more time at home. Brooks will continue to be a huge supporter of LIV Golf and wishes the league and its players continued success.     Brooks Koepka exits LIV Golf after four seasons: Is a return to the PGA Tour in his future?

    Brooks Koepka, 35, announced Tuesday that he is leaving LIV Golf after serving as one of the Saudi Arabia-backed tour's signature faces since he signed with the organization ahead of its inaugural 2022 season. Koepka, a five-time major championship winner, did not hoist a trophy in 2025 for the first time in five years, finishing 31st in the league's individual standings.

    "Brooks Koepka will be stepping away from LIV Golf," his representation said in a statement. "… Family has always guided Brooks' decisions, and he feels this is the right moment to spend more time at home.     BBL SQUAD: Stars add two for trip to Adelaide

    The Melbourne Stars have made two changes to their 14-player squad for Tuesday night’s clash with the Adelaide Strikers.

    Spinner Hamish McKenzie and seamer Tom Whitney have been included for the trip to Adelaide, with Jonathan Merlo and Aryan Sharma replaced in the squad.

    The Stars will be looking to build on their performance in the season opener, where they secured an eight-wicket win over the Hurricanes.

    This clash at Adelaide Oval will be the first of a four-game road trip for the Stars, who will then play in Sydney, Canberra (home game) and Brisbane, before returning to the MCG for the Melbourne Derby on January 4.

    Megan Gale has spent much of her life in the public eye, but as she turns 50, the Australian icon is taking a strikingly understated approach.

    She has revealed she quietly married long-time partner Shaun Hampson late last year, choosing a surprise, ultra-private ceremony far removed from the public life she has led for decades.

    The 50-year-old Australian model and businesswoman confirmed the marriage in an interview with Marie Claire Australia, saying the couple exchanged vows in December 2024 on Vomo Island in Fiji.

    Only their mothers and children were present for the ceremony, which was intentionally kept small and informal.

    “When so much of my life has been public, it was really nice to not have this shared or over-shared,” Gale said.

    'I haven't spoken about this on a deeper level, but now I'm getting it fixed, I feel like I can speak a bit easier,' she said tearfully in a video shared to TikTok.
