27 Years Later, This Epic Quote in 1999’s Best Thriller Has a Double Meaning Some Still Haven’t Noticed

A good twist can recontextualize a whole movie, especially on a second viewing. If you know in advance a film’s big secret, you’ll pick up on things you didn’t notice before; little sprinkles of foreshadowing that make the twist all the more satisfying. This can even apply to individual lines, the best of which take on a double meaning — making them hit even harder the next time. 27 years ago, M. Night Shyamalan’s The Sixth Sense hit theaters in 1999, and made millions at the box office thanks to a compelling film with an even more unbelievable twist.

The Best Twist In Horror Movie History Happened 27 Years Ago Today

Grand twists in movies can be risky if they aren't handled with care. Some infamous titles include shock reveals or wild endings so at odds with the rest of the production that they are remembered for all the wrong reasons. On the other hand, those twists can pay off in a remarkable way, enhancing an already brilliant story with a moment that feels earned and appropriate, as is the case with The Sixth Sense.

Few movies in any genre fit that description quite like The Sixth Sense. The title is an ambitious psychological thriller written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. Bruce Willis stars as Malcolm Crowe, a child psychologist. One of his patients, Cole (Haley Joel Osment), makes the now-famous claim, "I see dead people." That line is followed by another chilling omission where Cole explains he sees them all the time.

Samsung Galaxy Gets Starring Role in ‘Spider Man: Brand New Day’

One of the stars of Sony Pictures Entertainment‘s latest entry in its “Spider-Man” franchise has little spoken dialogue, but may end up stealing a few scenes.

Samsung‘s Galaxy phones are used by character Ned Leeds (played by Jacob Batalon) to track the whereabouts of the film’s titular hero. Moviegoers will see Spider-Man himself use a Galaxy Z Flip and also watch Leeds make use of a Galaxy Z Fold and a Galaxy Watch.

“Incorporating Galaxy technology into such a beloved Spider-Man storytelling world gives us a chance to showcase how even your friendly neighborhood hero relies only on Samsung Galaxy,” said Keena Grigsby, chief marketing officer and vice president of mobile experience at Samsung Electronics America, in a statement. “This is the perfect opportunity to double down on our belief that Galaxy devices are designed to help everyone stay connected — whether you’re taking photos with friends, keeping up with loved ones, or saving New York.”

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be full of Samsung foldables, new trailer Wednesday

Ahead of a new trailer for Sony & Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day arriving tomorrow, Samsung has confirmed that its Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold devices will feature in the film, alongside a new “Spidey Tracker” that Samsung is helping Sony build.

As we spotted in the first trailer, Peter Park is an irresponsible Galaxy Z Flip owner in Marvel’s latest Spidey film.

Samsung has now officially confirmed that, yes, it has struck a deal with Sony to feature Galaxy devices in the movie. That’s a pretty big deal as, in the past, Sony films have made a point to largely feature Sony Xperia smartphones instead of any other brand. Peter Parker using a beat-up Xperia is a hallmark of the Andrew Garfield films in particular.

This controversial rom-com starring Zendaya is one of the best movies of the year

A revealed transgression spells trouble for a soon-to-be-wed couple in The Drama. (Supplied: VVS Films)

What: A happily engaged couple’s wedding plans are rocked by an explosive revelation

Likely to make you feel: Unsettled … in the best possible way

Despite appearances to the contrary, the wildly unpredictable new A24 film The Drama is anything but a traditional romantic comedy, even if it tangles with modern love in darkly funny ways.

Norwegian arthouse director Kristoffer Borgli's latest American foray — starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson as a happily engaged couple whose forthcoming nuptials hit an unexpected snag — is best seen with as little prior knowledge as possible, in order to let its rollercoaster emotional twists catch you off guard.

The Drama review – Zendaya and Robert Pattinson’s controversial wedding film delivers on its promise

A woman’s confession on the eve of her nuptials causes uproar in this insouciantly offensive provocation from the director of Dream Scenario

How much of your past should you reveal to your adorable fiance before the big day? Very tricky issues are probably best avoided in the run-up to the ceremony, but can still be recklessly raised by attractively naive young people who assume the worms surely can’t be that big or plentiful – or difficult to get back into the can.

Such a situation is the centre of this contrived but amusing high-concept, high-anxiety movie from Norwegian director Kristoffer Borgli; a Euro-satire of American bourgeois aspiration that sets out to discomfit and excruciate in the spirit of Ruben Östlund’s Force Majeure or Thomas Vinterberg’s Festen.

'Some will be appalled': The Drama's horrifying twist is set to divide audiences

Zendaya and Robert Pattinson's new film about a soon-to-be married couple is a romcom with a disturbing difference. The result is 2026's "first great cinematic conversation-starter".

Zendaya and Robert Pattinson haven't shied away from contentious material in the past, from Zendaya's breakthrough role in Euphoria to Pattinson's role in… well, pretty much everything he's done since the Twilight franchise. But their new film, The Drama, is sure to be the most divisive project to feature either of them. Some viewers will love it, and some will be appalled, despite it being, on one level, a romantic comedy about pre-wedding jitters.
