Star’s statement explosion stuns as two-word trade brag comes back to haunt – Playoffs Wrap

After a flat Game 4 showing in which they produced their lowest scoring output since 2021, the Oklahoma City Thunder answered back in emphatic fashion, downing the San Antonio Spurs 127-114 in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals.

But beyond the bounce-back win, it was Jared McCain who again stole the spotlight, continuing a breakout post-trade surge that has only added sting to a decision made in Philadelphia earlier this year.

The result puts OKC 3-2 up in the series and within one win of back-to-back NBA Finals appearances. The Spurs, meanwhile, head home facing elimination and needing to string together two straight wins to keep their season alive.

Jared McCain rubs salt in the 76ers' wounds after stepping up for Thunder in conference finals

The Philadelphia 76ers traded Jared McCain to the Oklahoma City Thunder at the deadline, and the young guard stepped into the starting lineup in Game 5 of the conference finals. McCain dropped 20 points, including sinking multiple key baskets, to put OKC up 3-2 in the series. Jalen Williams and Ajay Mitchell are out, but McCain is filling in admirably. Sixers fans were upset Daryl Morey traded him, and that move looks even worse now.

Morey was confident that the 76ers sold high, but that statement was absolutely foolish. McCain started three games all season before Tuesday night. It was Oklahoma City’s biggest contest of the season, with the series tied at two games apiece. They needed someone to step up, and it was McCain.

Jared McCain Is Giving Off Life Lessons Left And Right

You might think that after getting traded in a somewhat humiliating fashion, that former Duke star Jared McCain might enjoy his success, and that he might want to rub Philadelphia’s nose in it a bit.

That’s not his style, though. Check out what he says here about Philadelphia and the trade. Previously, he has said that it stung a bit, but here, he clarifies how he feels about Philly, and it’s quite positive. He’s not going to waste a lot of time and energy on resentment. This is remarkably mature for a guy who is just 22.

Pies make a statement with rollicking win over Giants

After a fortnight of focus on the Magpies’ forward functionality, those that needed it got a lick of the ice cream in Friday night’s 33-point win over Greater Western Sydney at Marvel Stadium.

Tim Membrey kicked three of his goals four goals in the first quarter. Dan McStay kicked multiple goals for the first time since round 17 last year – the last time Collingwood reached triple figures – on a night Collingwood led from start to finish to win 13.9 (87) to 7.12 (54).

With eight first-choice Giants sidelined due to injury – Tom Green, Josh Kelly, Sam Taylor, Jack Buckley, Brent Daniels, Toby Bedford, Darcy Jones and Aaron Cadman – and the seven youngest players on the ground wearing orange, the Giants rarely threatened the Magpies.

    Team selection: Three GIANT changes

Collingwood has named its team ahead of Friday night’s Round 3 clash with the GWS GIANTS at Marvel Stadium.

The Magpies have made three changes to the team that took on the Adelaide Crows in Round 1.

Captain Darcy Moore and defender Jeremy Howe will make their first appearances of the 2026 season on Friday night after the pair overcame calf injuries.

As announced on Wednesday, ruck Oscar Steene will make his long-awaited AFL debut against the GIANTS.

Hailing from South Australia, the 201cm tall arrived at the Club in the 2022 off-season to trial for a Supplementary Selection Period (SSP) spot for the following season.

Epic debut, ‘different’ Daicos look stuns in Pies blitz… but champ struck down — 3-2-1

It was nearly a perfect night for Collingwood outside of an injury concern to Scott Pendlebury.

Nick Daicos was at his blistering best, Oscar Steene was a standout on debut and Tim Membrey bounced back to form with four goals as the Magpies downed GWS by 33 points at Marvel Stadium.

But Pendlebury’s night came to an abrupt halt in the third quarter due to Achilles tightness, though the Pies champ played down the setback post-match, after Darcy Moore battled his own injury concern in the first half.
