    Wests Tigers support MHF in honour of Alex Clarke

    This weekend’s annual Beanie for Brain Cancer Round is one that holds extra special significance for the Wests Tigers.

    In January this year, the Club’s Senior Athletic Performance Coach, Alex Clarke, passed away from brain cancer following a brave two-year battle.

    It's the 10th anniversary this season of the Beanie for Brain Cancer Round between the National Rugby League (NRL) and the Mark Hughes Foundation (MHF).

    Across the nine Beanie Rounds to date, rugby league fans have helped MHF raise $29.7 million through the sale of more than 1.3 million beanies, bringing Australians together in the fight against brain cancer.

    'Matter of survival': Pay-outs for Wellington businesses after sewage disaster

    Wellington businesses facing closure because of the Moa Point sewage disaster have been thrown a lifeline, with the council offering payouts of up to $35,000 for those worst affected.

    Wellington City Council today approved a $200,000 relief fund to support businesses on the capital’s South Coast.

    The package allows
    for local businesses to claim a one-off payment of up to $35,000 if they can prove a drop in revenue of at least 50% in the months since the sewage plant failed.

    It has been three months since the wastewater treatment facility flooded, spewing untreated sewage off Wellington’s South Coast.

    Beaches have reopened in the area but local operators have said people are still staying away, and bottom lines have taken a hit.

    The gas industry is mobilising in opposition to a potential new tax on the sector as political momentum builds – including among Labor MPs – for the government to use the May budget to prevent producers profiting from the Middle East war.

    The Australian Energy Producers (AEP) chief executive, Samantha McCulloch, claimed a new tax would punish the same Asian trading partners Australia was leaning on to supply more fuel amid the global energy crisis.

    Labor explores new gas tax to shield from Iran war shock

    Anthony Albanese's department has requested Treasury modelling on options to impose a new levy on gas companies, as well as further changes to the Petroleum Resources Rent Tax.

    The document, seen by the ABC, suggests the government is seeking advice on whether to impose the tax in the May budget to collect some of the windfall profits gas companies are making during the Middle East war.

    More than 500 million litres of petrol and diesel have been released from federal fuel reserves and directed to regional communities.

    EA Is Ending Support for Its Most Controversial Battlefield Game

    Battlefield confirms online service server shutdowns in June for one of the its most experimental installments in the franchise.

    The Battlefield franchise is making a big change to its lineup this coming summer, when one of its less popular installments will no longer be supported on consoles.

    It’s been more than a decade since Battlefield Hardline launched to mixed reviews all the way back in March of 2015. The project was immediately distinct from previous entries in the franchise, due to its shift from large-scale military set pieces to more of a focus on a cops versus robbers theme. Although some fans liked the change of pace, the game definitely had a lot of haters at launch, as well.

    EA is nuking Battlefield Hardline on consoles

    EA has put another game on the chopping block, or at least the console versions of it. The company says it will delist the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Battlefield Hardline from digital storefronts on May 22, and shut down the online services on June 22. The single-player campaign will remain playable for those who own the game. The PC version of Battlefield Hardline isn’t affected by these changes.

    In its announcement on X, EA didn't explain exactly why it's ceasing support for the game on PS4 and Xbox One. It pointed readers to a FAQ on its website that lays out some of the typical reasons why it ends online support for its games. These include factors like declining player bases.

    Battlefield Hardline Sunsetting On PS4 And Xbox One

    It’s a sad final note for Visceral Games, one of EA’s biggest and most important studios.

    They revealed on Twitter that Battlefield Hardline will be removed from PlayStation 4’s and Xbox One’s online stores on June 22, 2026.

    People who own the game will still be able to play and/or redownload their copies for both consoles. But they will also no longer be able to play any online modes.

    Battlefield Hardline will continue to be available on PC, where it is available on Steam, Epic Game Store, and EA’s own EA app.

    Battlefield Hardline was the last game released by Visceral Games. The studio, formerly known as EA Redwood Shores, made some of EA’s biggest titles over the decades, from Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2000, to The Godfather, to the Dead Space franchise, to Dante’s Inferno.

    Australia to provide military support to Gulf states attacked by Iran

    Australia will send a military aircraft and 85 ADF personnel to the United Arab Emirates to assist in the defence of Gulf nations that have been attacked by Iran. 

    They will be operational by the end of the week for an initial four-week period for the "collective self-defence of Gulf nations". 

    Foreign Minister Penny Wong says Iran's attacks on neighbouring countries escalated overnight.

    Australia will provide military assistance to Persian Gulf states impacted by Iranian missile and drone attacks.

    Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the Australian Defence Force will deploy an E-7A Wedgetail aircraft to the United Arab Emirates to protect and defend the region.

    Australian shares are poised to rebound strongly today after Donald Trump called the war on Iran a “short-term excursion”, raising investor hopes that oil supply in the Middle East would soon normalise.

    Futures pricing indicates the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 will rise more than 2.2% this morning to the 8,750 point market, erasing a large part of yesterday’s steep losses.

    Popular streamer TheBurntPeanut has passionately defended Marathon after the comments section on his streams of the game have been bombarded with hate for it.

    TheBurntPeanut was one of the very first to stream Marathon content and he's been streaming gameplay of Marathon Server Slam, which went live on Thursday (26 February).

    On his streams, the comments section has been inundated with negative comments about Bungie's sci-fi first-person extraction shooter.

    And TheBurntPeanut has had enough, calling out those who are being negative about the game.

    In a viral video that's been clipped from one of his streams, TheBurntPeanut said: "If we keep dogging on new games, what you're going to have until you are 90 is Call of Duty 56, Halo 72… That's what you're going to get, you know what I'm talking about?
