    Former The OC actor on crusade to take down 'stupid' cryptocurrency

    For many millennials, Ben McKenzie is still best known for his role as a troubled teen from the wrong side of the tracks who was adopted by the wealthy Cohen family. 

    The now 47-year-old actor noted as much in the US Congress, when he appeared before its Senate committee on banking four years ago.

    "You can also call me Ryan Atwood from The OC," he quipped.

    McKenzie's appearance before the committee highlights the career swerve the Hollywood actor has made since appearing in television shows such as The OC and Gotham.

    Ben McKenzie releases documentary criticizing cryptocurrencies

    American actor Ben McKenzie, known for the series The O.C. and Gotham, has released the documentary Everyone Is Lying To You For Money, in which he criticizes the cryptocurrency industry. The film is a continuation of a book about cryptocurrencies that he wrote with journalist Jacob Silverman, and tells the story of events in the crypto market in 2022 and the collapse of the FTX exchange.

    As ABC News Australia reports, McKenzie has a degree in economics and became interested in cryptocurrencies during the COVID-19 pandemic. According to him, amid low interest rates and fears of currency depreciation, retail investors increasingly turned to bitcoin.

    This Monday I will be dressing up in an absolutely ridiculous costume and sliding into a pool of ice cold water in front of 100,000 people at the MCG.

    Firstly, it’s to raise funds for Neale Daniher’s Fight MND and secondly, it’s because my family has a personal connection to this awful disease.

    My Uncle Laurie in Geelong was diagnosed with MND back in 2019.

    Growing up, Uncle Laurie was the caravan guy. He absolutely loved a road trip.

    He loved exploring Australia and would drive Aunty Molly and my cousins over to SA to visit us at Christmas time. I always looked forward to hearing about their latest adventures.

    She may talk for a living but Triple M host and social media sensation Katie Lamb expects the cold to take her breath away when she takes the icy plunge for FightMND on Saturday.

    Lamb, alongside Eagles great Glen Jakovich and Perth Wildcats champion Jesse Wagstaff, will brave an ice-filled dunk tank at Optus Stadium for The Big Freeze, a fundraiser co-founded by the late Neale Daniher to find a cure for motor neurone disease.

    “I’m super excited to be involved and be a part of this incredible cause,” Lamb told The West Australian.

    “Obviously, it’s extra special as well with Neale having just passed recently. I’m very honoured to be involved and I think it will be so much fun at the same time.”

    HAWTHORN clashes with a resurgent Western Bulldogs on Friday night as both teams look to consolidate places in the upper reaches of the ladder.

    The Hawks got their push for a top-four finish back on track with two consecutive wins as they put St Kilda to the sword with a defensive masterclass that kept it goalless in the first half. 

    They will want to carry their momentum into a bye next week and can draw on their strong recent record over the Dogs, which includes five consecutive victories.

    The Bulldogs have made one change ahead of Friday's clash with Hawthorn.

    The Western Bulldogs have made one change ahead of a clash with Hawthorn under Friday night lights at the MCG.

    As reported earlier in the week, Cody Weightman will make his return to AFL footy for the first time in 637 days.

    The small forward last played in the Elimination Final against the Hawks in 2024, with Lachie Jaques making way in the team.

    Caleb May, Luke Kennedy and Jedd Busslinger have been named as emergencies for the match.

    The Bulldogs and Hawks will go head-to-head from 7:40pm AEST, with the match to be broadcast live on Channel 7 / 7 Plus and Fox Footy / Kayo Sports.

    RD 13 TEAM: Ryan returns for a date with the Dogs

    Hawthorn has made one change for its Round 13 Friday night showdown with the Western Bulldogs at the MCG. 

    Young defender Bodie Ryan comes back into the side to replace the injured Jack Gunston. 

    Gunston was given every chance to suit up after pulling up with some soreness in his foot following Hawthorn's Round 12 win over St Kilda.

    The Club's medical team has made the call to rule him out to ensure he has two full weeks of rest with the upcoming Bye. 

    Tickets for the game are still available HERE, with Hawks members and fans encouraged to paint the MCG brown and gold for the team's blockbuster Round 13 clash.
