India debut beckons for generational talent Sooryavanshi

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is a 15-year-old Indian taking cricket by storm as perhaps the greatest sporting prodigy of this generation

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi shifted his back foot to the side, dipped his broad shoulders, extended out his bat almost horizontally and bludgeoned the white ball out of the field, right into the facade of a packed corporate stand.

It was the shot of a veteran baseball slugger, not of a 14-year-old facing his first ever ball in the world's biggest and most-watched cricket league.

So began the elite career of a kid who, for many, is the greatest sporting prodigy of this generation.

Cartoons & hose hands – what makes Sooryavanshi, 15, special?

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has the highest strike-rate (220.48) of any batter to score more than 500 T20 runs since the beginning of 2025

They can ignore him no longer. After smashing so many records since breaking through as a 13-year-old, India are likely to hand a debut to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in their white-ball series against Ireland in Belfast.

Should be play the second T20 international on Sunday he will be 15 years and 93 days, younger even than India's most famous teenage prodigy, Sachin Tendulkar, who played a one-day international against Pakistan in 1989, aged 16 years and 205 days.

Given his age, Sooryavanshi will have to change in separate changing rooms from his team-mates for safeguarding reasons.

Female talent takes the brunt of Seven’s on-air job cuts

Nine women and just one man are among the redundancies of on-air talent in Seven’s Sydney and Melbourne newsrooms that have been publicly identified in the company’s latest round of job cuts.

Southern Cross Media, which owns the television network, announced between 250 and 300 job cuts last week, noting that market conditions had deteriorated more quickly than anticipated.

Although the cuts are being felt across the business among on-air talent who have been spared in part from past redundancy rounds, it is largely women who have publicly identified themselves as departing in that section of the business.

Across the Sydney and Melbourne newsrooms, nine have been made redundant. Just one male reporter, veteran journalist Chris Maher, has been forced out.

Hit100.9 Hobart breakfast show Dan and Christie axed by SCA

Hobart’s top-rated breakfast radio show has been axed with barely a day’s notice as part of sweeping cost cuts by Southern Cross Austereo.

Hit100.9 duo Dan and Christie were told by network executives on Tuesday that their show would not continue after Wednesday.

Dan and Christie claimed the number one breakfast spot in Hobart during last year’s survey, surging 2.7 points to a 21.2% audience share and knocking Sarah, Mick and Johnno from 7HOFM off the top position.

The pair were in the middle of another survey period when the decision came down yesterday.

The show features born-and-bred Tasmanian Dan Taylor and former Home and Away actress Christie Hayes.

Talent and safety swayed Binance to choose Greece as base for EU expansion

The talented workforce and the level of security that Greece can offer played a key role in Binance’s decision to pick the nation as its main European port.

The acknowledgment came from the chief executive of the cryptocurrency exchange, which recently filed for a license from Athens under the EU’s latest regulations.

The world’s largest trading platform for digital assets by daily volume, Binance, recently chose Greece as a strategic hub for its growth in the European Union.

The country’s qualified workforce and security profile have now been highlighted by the crypto behemoth’s co-CEO Richard Teng as key motives for the move.

And its co-CEO Richard Teng has said Greece's labor force and security profile gave it the edge over larger financial centers.

The world's biggest cryptocurrency exchange holds about $44 billion worth of bitcoin in its customer wallets.

It last month applied in Greece to operate in the EU under the trading bloc's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation scheme.

Why Binance MiCA license plans put Greece at the center of its EU expansion

At a time of intensifying crypto regulatory debates, the binance mica strategy is putting Greece in the spotlight as a potential long-term hub in the European Union.

Binance co-CEO Richard Teng has explained why the exchange chose Greece as the jurisdiction where it is seeking its first MiCA license in the European Union. Speaking at the GFTN Forum in Tokyo, he said the team weighed broader criteria than just the legal text of MiCA when selecting a European base.

“The license is pretty standard throughout Europe, so we have to think through many other factors, whether it is social, whether it is talent pool, safety and security issues,” Teng said. “Greece is where we think will be a good base for us to expand in Europe.” However, he did not disclose when he expects the process to conclude.
