Technical issue leaves Dockers fans stuck on trains in Perth

Dockers fans on their way to Optus Stadium have been hit by major train delays.

A technical issue is understood to have stopped the trains on Friday evening, leaving fans stuck inside train carriages on their way to the stadium where Fremantle Dockers will take on Adelaide Crows.

A spokesperson from the Public Transport Authority said there was a track-related issue near Stadium Station, which has since been resolved.

“Trains on the Armadale and Thornlie-Cockburn Lines are experiencing delays due to a technical issue,” Transperth posted to social media.

“Trains will continue to run however they are not running to the regular schedule. Thank you for your patience.”

TRAFFIC ALERT: Drivers told to expect extra peak-hour chaos

Fans heading to the Optus Stadium tonight for Fremantle’s clash against Adelaide are being warned to leave plenty of time for their journey, with peak-hour traffic expected to affect travel.

The Fremantle Dockers will host the Crows in yet another prime-time blockbuster at Optus Stadium, with bouncedown at 6.10pm and gates opening at 4.30pm.

Ahead of the match, Main Roads WA is urging footy fans to plan ahead and leave early.

A Main Roads spokesperson said: “Allow for extra travel time as heading to the game coincides with afternoon peak.

“Expect extra congestion on Graham Farmer Freeway, the tunnel eastbound and the CBD from 4pm.

FREMANTLE'S surge to premiership favouritism has put the club on the cusp of another record in 2026 as it shoots for a ninth consecutive home crowd of more than 50,000 fans at Optus Stadium on Friday night.

The Dockers have set a new benchmark with their home attendances this season, recording their highest ever home crowd for a regular season game against West Coast in round 20, as well as their two highest non-Derby home crowds.

The club has forecast an attendance in excess of 50,000 fans when it takes on Adelaide at Optus Stadium on Friday night, having consistently drawn large crowds to its prime-time clashes on Thursday and Friday nights this season.

Technical Discussion: Mother’s Day weekend includes a First Alert Weather Day

Isolated showers are dwindling and will continue to dissipate as we lose our daytime heating. The term “heating” being used loosely here, as temps are about 10 degrees below average! Keep a jacket nearby if you are heading out for any Friday evening plans. Tonight, clouds will increase. Temperatures are going to drop quickly at first, leveling off past midnight. It will be seasonably cool in the 40s. Showers are expected by daybreak.

The 2nd weekend of May is shaping up to be unsettled. Saturday is breezy and cool with temps running 10-15 degrees below normal. It’s also going to be a wet day, with periods of rain from the morning through sunset. It could be more substantial from late afternoon into the evening hours (steadier, perhaps heavier). While some rumbles of thunder can’t be ruled out, severe weather is not a concern. And, while we could pick up 0.5-1.0” of rain (locally higher amounts possible), we’re not anticipating any threat of flooding (as the rain falls over a 12-18 hour window of time). Because of the rain’s impact to outdoor plans, we’ve declared a First Alert Weather Day. Fortunately, Mother’s Day still looks like an improvement! While there could be an afternoon shower, most of the day is dry with temps peaking slightly above average, in the upper 60s and lower 70s (this is also our warmest day of the next 7). The chance for rain increases again at night.

AUDUSD Technical Analysis Report 16 March, 2026

Given the strength of the support level 0.7000, strong daily uptrend and the bearish US dollar sentiment seen across the FX markets today, AUDUSD currency pair be expected to rise to the next resistance level 0.7150 (which has been reversing the price from the start of February).

AUDUSD currency pair recently reversed up from the support area between the round support level 0.7000 (which reversed the price multiple times from the start of March), lower daily Bollinger Band and the 38.2% Fibonacci correction of the upward impulse from January. The upward reversal from this support area is currently forming the daily Japanese candlesticks reversal pattern Piercing Line – the pair also previously created the daily Hammer and the Morning Star Japanese candlesticks reversal patterns at the start of March, as you can see from the daily AUDUSD chart below.

AUDUSD Wave Analysis

AUDUSD currency pair recently reversed from the support area between the key support level 0.6965 (low of the eagerly wave 2), support trendline from November, lower daily Bollinger Band and the 38.2% Fibonacci correction of the upward impulse from December.

The upward reversal from this support zone continues the active short-term impulse wave 3 – which belongs to the intermediate impulse wave (C) from November.

Given the overriding daily uptrend, AUDUSD currency pair can be expected to rise to the next resistance level 0.7160 (which stopped previous wave 1).

AUDUSD breaks to fresh yearly highs amid IEA oil release

The AUDUSD is charging toward new daily highs, decisively extending its rally beyond the February 12 peak of 0.7146. The pair recently touched 0.7189 following news that the International Energy Agency (IEA) will release 400 million barrels of oil from strategic reserves—a massive move aimed at stabilizing global prices amid anxieties surrounding the Iranian conflict.

Price action turned bullish during the Asian session after a brief, failed attempt to break above the February high yesterday. Once the price reclaimed the 0.7146 level, momentum accelerated, pushing the pair to a new yearly high of 0.71847.

During the European morning, we saw a healthy "retest" where the price rotated lower but found a firm floor of buyers near that same February high. This successful support test provided the springboard for the current leg up.
