Kayo Sports and Fox Sports Appoint Ted Helliar to New Fan Engagement Leadership Role

Kayo Sports and Fox Sports have appointed Ted Helliar as the director of engagement, community and fandom.

This newly created position reflects a shift within the Foxtel Group to prioritise deep, meaningful connections with the sports communities that underpin the commercial success of the platforms.

CEO of Kayo Sports, BINGE, and Foxtel, Hilary Perchard, communicated the appointment via an internal announcement, stating that the brands are doubling down on what matters most to their continued growth.

Perchard noted that the creation of this role allows the organisation to invest further in the health of Australian sport by building a more engaged and loyal spectator base. The move suggests that for Kayo and Fox Sports, the long-term play is no longer just about securing broadcast rights, but about capturing the hearts and minds of the people watching.

Foxtel Recruits NBL’s Ted Helliar To Supercharge Its Fan Community

Foxtel Group has recruited former National Basketball League exec Ted Helliar to serve as director of engagement, community and fandom of Kayo Sports and Fox Sports.

The dedicated role is to take fan engagement to the next level across Kayo Sports and Fox Sports, by building a deeper, more meaningful connection with the communities that power the success of Foxtel and allow it to invest in the growth of Australian sport. And as a result all Kayo and Fox Sports social and creator teams will now report to Helliar.

“Outside of the Australian Government the Foxtel Group are the biggest investors in Australian sport, and it’s very exciting to be in a position to bring that to life, from grassroots all the way through to the elite,” Helliar told B&T.

Ted Season 3's Fate Seemingly Confirmed By Seth MacFarlane Ahead Of Record-Setting Show's Return

With the show proving a hit in its debut, Seth MacFarlane has seemingly confirmed Ted season 3's status.

Created by and starring the five-time Emmy winner, the Peacock series serves as a prequel to his films from the 2010s, exploring the titular sentient teddy bear and friend John Bennett's teenage years. Also starring Max Burkholder as John, taking over the role from Mark Wahlberg, frequent MacFarlane collaborator Scott Grimes, Euphoria's Alanna Ubach and The Punisher's Giorgia Whigham, Ted season 1 scored largely positive reviews and solid viewership to net a season 2 renewal.

In honor of season 2's premiere, ScreenRant's Grant Hermanns interviewed Seth MacFarlane to discuss Ted season 2. When asked about both the in-development animated series, which is serving as a sequel to his films, and a potential season 3, the creator/star confirmed that "as of now, there are no direct plans" to continue the live-action show, seemingly sealing its fate ahead of its return.

‘Ted,’ the Horny Teddy Bear, Spills All His Dirty Secrets

You thought going to high school in the ’90s was rough? Try being an anthropomorphic teddy bear wished to life by a child.

That’s the gripe for Ted, the diminutive stuffy forced to accompany now-teenaged John Bennett through the halls of his Massachusetts high school—and all of the awkward adolescent milestones encountered along the way.

Ted is less of an emotional support toy for John than a wrecking ball of naughtiness and chaos, a dynamic we were first introduced to in the 2012 comedy Ted and its 2015 sequel, Ted 2. (Think more “boorish” than “precocious.”)

For fans of the franchise who may have wondered, “What was that incorrigibly horny, pot-addicted, foul-mouthed stuffed animal with clear attachment issues to Mark Wahlberg’s John like 30 years ago,” now there’s Ted, the TV series, whose second season starts streaming March 5.
