Live: Prominent athlete tells court Alan Jones kissed him twice without consent

A prominent athlete, known as Complainant M, is giving evidence in the Alan Jones trial in a closed session of the NSW Local Court in Sydney.

Mr Jones is charged with one count of indecent assault and one count of sexual touching in relation to the complainant, to which he has pleaded not guilty.

The 85-year-old former radio broadcaster has pleaded not guilty to a total of 22 charges of indecent assault and sexual touching in this trial.

A prominent athlete was left in "disbelief" after Alan Jones kissed him without consent at a public event before the veteran broadcaster sent him a text message saying, "I hope you can feel my kisses darling", a court has heard.

A prominent athlete froze and was âshocked and embarrassedâ when Alan Jones kissed him on the side of his mouth at a public event, the broadcasterâs trial at Sydneyâs Downing Centre has heard.

The witness said the kiss on the corner of his lips happened years after Jones sent him a weekly bouquet of flowers after he had complimented the flowers on Jonesâs dining table. He said Jonesâs driver would drop the flowers at his home every week.

Jamie Cripps: Premiership forward to return to country roots following West Coast Eagles retirement

West Coast premiership forward Jamie Cripps has revealed he will be returning to his country roots following his AFL retirement as he opened up on his decision to hang up the boots.

Cripps retired from the AFL on Tuesday following 16 seasons in the AFL, where he kicked 323 goals from 277 games and was crucial to the club’s 2018 flag success.

A knee injury picked up in the WAFL brought a premature end to his career with the 34-year-old Northampton product saying he is unlikely to stick around the big smoke in Perth for long.

“We’re building a house up in Geraldton at the moment so we’re looking to move up there soon,” he told West Coast’s Coast to Coast podcast.

Premiership Eagle calls time on stellar career

After 277 games across 16 seasons, premiership Eagle Jamie Cripps has called time on a brilliant AFL career.

The former St Kilda small forward and West Coast club legend was a permanent feature of the Eagles' forward line for 14 seasons, kicking 339 goals over his career – 323 of which came in the blue and gold.

Cripps was a crucial cog in the Eagles' 2018 premiership run, racking up 24 disposals and kicking three goals in West Coast's demolition of Melbourne in the Preliminary Final before tallying 16 and a goal to down Collingwood in an all-time Grand Final.

Just last season, Cripps led West Coast's goalkicking in what was a difficult year for the club, and in 2026, a season-ending knee injury in the WAFL brought his career to an unfortunate end.

It was a tough baptism for sprinting star Gout Gout, who finished deep in the field in his first Diamond League race – the top men’s competition in Europe.

Gout was slow out of the blocks, as is his custom, but could not make up ground with his regular slingshot off the bend in a field of seasoned racers in the 200m final at the Oslo Diamond League.

He finished sixth in 20.20 seconds behind Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo, who claimed victory with a 19.84. There was the gentlest of tailwinds (+0.2) for the race.

The new under-20 world record holder last year made the semi-finals at the world championships in Tokyo, so he knows what it is to race the best men in the world and hold his own. This was another step in his senior racing education.

BTS is officially back. After a four-year hiatus for mandatory military service, the massively popular K-pop group has returned in full force with their new album Arirang, released March 20. But it hasn’t been a flawless comeback – as Arirang has reignited concerns over the outsized influence Western tastes may be having on mainstream Korean pop music. More than 80% of the album’s lyrics are English, as opposed to the group’s native Korean.

BTS has outpaced Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West, to land a second week atop the Billboard 200.

The K-pop group’s latest album “Arirang” holds steady at No. 1 on the albums chart with 187,000 equivalent album units, down 71% from its opening week with 641,000. Last week, “Arirang” became BTS’ seventh No. 1 album and scored the biggest sales week for an album by a group in over a decade. With its second week at No. 1, “Arirang” has now spent the longest period atop the charts out of all of the group’s previous leaders, which each spent one week at the summit.
