Hinkley: I think there's change coming at Carlton

How would Carlton and Michael Voss approach a hypothetical board meeting right now?

There generally tends to be a scheduled board meeting at this stage of the season at most clubs where the coach presents the true state of the team and its prospects.

Publicly and privately, now is the time for the coach to get a grasp on where their team is at.

Former Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley, who experienced countless of these board meetings, knows Voss very well having spent seven years together at Alberton.

Hinkley was asked by Gerard Whateley what he would arm himself with if he were Voss and entering such a board meeting a quarter of the way through the final year of his contract.

Key Carlton figures meet as pressure on Voss intensifies

Carlton's heavyweights caught up last week for a scheduled meeting to discuss the club's progress

CARLTON figures chief executive Graham Wright, football boss Chris Davies and coach Michael Voss met last week for a key internal meeting as pressure intensifies on Voss' future.

The scheduled meeting was part of a commitment between the three central figures to meet regularly during the season as the Blues embark on their 2026 campaign.

A range of topics are understood to have been broached as part of the discussion, including progress against KPIs and broader planning for the club's future, with Carlton's hierarchy maintaining a consistent position that they will make a decision on Voss' future later in the season.

    The Predicament Facing Michael Voss

A lot of hay and media attention has been made with the coaching future of Michael Voss. The current top man at the Carlton Football Club has been plagued with critics calling for his head, and unfortunately for Voss, his players aren’t giving him much of a defence.

The club he leads is currently submerged in the bottom four, a far cry from the finals that the team had set their sights on in previous years and with a clash against the old nemesis, Collingwood, looming, many are holding their breath as to what happens next.

The Board has ended up being Voss’ greatest defence, sticking by the beleaguered coach last year when it looked like almost a certainty that his time at the helm of his second club had come to an end. Instead of axing the coach, the Board went against its own fan base and publicly backed the coach. However, Voss’ performance hasn’t improved, prompting renewed calls from supporters to part ways with the coach, even this early in the season.

Australia is opening its chequebook to outbid rivals in a global scramble for fuel, as Prime Minister Anthony Albanese flies to Singapore seeking deals to secure extra shipments and avert a looming shortfall.

Despite early hopes that a fragile two-week ceasefire in Iran would unclog oil shipping routes and bring relief at the petrol pump in the coming weeks, Australia remains dangerously exposed to the risk of a supply crunch unless the government can negotiate extra deliveries of petrol, diesel and jet fuel.

On Thursday, Albanese said the government had secured the support of the nation’s biggest fuel importers, Viva Energy and Ampol, to participate in a scheme to urgently boost shipments to Australia.

Global oil markets could take as long as a year to return to something like pre-Iran war normality even if the conflict ended tomorrow, leading experts warn.

Hopes for an immediate restart of shipping through the strait of Hormuz have been dashed after Israel bombarded Lebanon shortly after the announcement of a two-week cease-fire between the US and Iran, with Iranian media reporting traffic through the strait had been halted in response.

The apparent official standstill in hostilities not even two days old punctuated by bombs with Israel keeping its finger on the trigger in Lebanon, launching a wave of deadly attacks.

JD VANCE, US VICE-PRESIDENT: The Iranians thought that the ceasefire was going to include Lebanon and it just didn’t. We never made that promise.

ALI BAHREINI, IRANIAN UN AMBASSADOR:  If the Israel attacks continue against Lebanon, it will have some consequences.

JACOB GREBER:  Iran has maintained its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and its defacto toll.

ANTHONY ALBANESE, PRIME MINISTER:  Of course it is a fragile peace, but we want it to lead to an agreement. The Australian Government also firmly believes that this has to apply to Lebanon as well.

‘The excitement is already there’: Fred Rutten ready to lead Curaçao to the World Cup

Dutchman who succeeded Dick Advocaat was once offered assistant’s role to Ten Hag at Manchester United

Soon after the news broke last month that Fred Rutten would lead Curaçao at the World Cup, he received a text from one of the players. “Hey boss, welcome to the family,” read the message from the goalkeeper Eloy Room. It was a warm greeting for the coach called in to replace Dick Advocaat, who had led the small island to that historic qualification but stepped down to be with his ill daughter.

Rutten’s appointment may have been a surprise to the outside world – he has not held a coaching role for almost three years and has never led a national team – but his appointment did not come out of the blue.

Australia has six times more footballers than Curacao has people: how did the tiny nation qualify for the World Cup?

First things first: this is not a Red Bull Leipzig scenario. The bright blue football team improbably heading to the World Cup, and facing the Socceroos on Tuesday, isn’t named after the bright blue bitter citrus Curaçao liqueur that embellished cocktails in the bougie bars of 1990s Gold Coast summers.

While the name is one Aussies are more likely to recognise from a menu than a map, Curaçao is a tiny Caribbean nation roughly the size of Canberra or the Gold Coast strip, with a population of just 156,000.

That’s six times fewer people than the number of registered footballers in Australia, and makes them the smallest ever nation to qualify for the World Cup finals, after Iceland.

Wake Up, Babe—There's a New Mary-Kate Olsen Sighting

"Hearst Magazines and Yahoo may earn commission or revenue on some items through these links."

No one knows the New York City uniform quite like the Olsen twins, and this week, Mary-Kate Olsen gave us a few styling tips for a wildly chic, timeless city wardrobe.

The designer was caught stepping out in Manhattan alongside art dealer Vito Schnabel. Coffee in hand and oversize black sunglasses on, she was the picture of a quintessential New Yorker.

Ever the polished minimalist, Olsen slipped on a series of classic everyday staples: a luxurious long black coat, black Adidas Sambas (the elevated Sambae style), and a custom chocolate-brown crocodile bag from the Row, which she has carried before.

If your goal this year is to build a wardrobe of classics, it might be worth taking a cue from Mary-Kate Olsen. True to the ethos of her brand, The Row, Olsen doesn't chase trends. Instead, she invests in high-quality, timeless silhouettes and wears them for years. This is especially evident in her sneaker choices, where she wears the same enduring silhouettes year after year. The Adidas Sambaes, in particular, remain one of her go-tos, and she proved it by stepping out in them in NYC yesterday.

The 2026 Polestar 4 Is Weird, And That's Just Great

The 2026 Polestar 4 may be a new addition to the automaker's line-up, but it's what's missing which has arguably overshadowed the SUV coupé's arrival. After all, the shapely Porsche Macan Electric rival is priced to sell with its $57,800 starting price — including destination but before some seriously hefty incentives Polestar is offering to make up for the absent EV tax credit — has plenty of power and no shortage of luxury tech. All anyone's talking about, though, is the fact that it doesn't have a rear window.

Polestar insists that replacing the rear glass with a camera's view brings a genuine benefit, allowing the C-pillar and some of the roof's structural support to be pushed back and so, in turn, the rear seats. That means more legroom and headroom back there, plus bigger headrests since they won't block the view out the back. Oh, and filling the trunk to the brim won't impact visibility, either.

It was meant to be a night like any other, spent eating and laughing in the company of family.

On January 31, Nancy Guthrie visited her daughter, Annie, and played games at her house before she was driven home by her son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni.

He watched from his car as she walked to her garage and safely entered her house in the Catalina Foothills neighbourhood of Tucson, Arizona, police told the New York Times.

It was one of those everyday occurrences that would not have been all that memorable, had it not been the last time anyone saw or heard from Nancy Guthrie.

'Now there's the threat of executions' in Iran

Anti-government protests have continued in Iran with thousands feared dead after the government crackdown on demonstrators.

One protester, 26-year-old Erfan Soltani, will reportedly be "executed tomorrow", with the Hengaw Organisation for Human Rights saying they "have never witnessed a case move so quickly".

The protests, which began in Tehran on 28 December, were sparked by the collapse of the Iranian currency.

Will There Be A ‘Mayor Of Kingstown’ Season 5? Here’s The Encouraging News | Taylor Sherida…

Explore the latest developments concerning Will There Be.

Taylor Sheridan’s Best TV Episode Just Landed on Paramount+ – And It’s Not Yellowstone

While Taylor Sheridan is known and loved for his acclaimed series like Yellowstone and Landman, one of his more overlooked Paramount+ series just became his most celebrated TV episode of all time.

Sheridan may be headed for Peacock in the coming years, but his work on Paramount+ is far from over. Currently, the Oscar-nominated writer has created four of the top 5 series trending worldwide right now on Paramount+, and is almost single-handedly dominating global viewership as 2025 comes to a close.

One series, however, is making a statement on Paramount+, receiving widespread acclaim from critics and audiences alike. After gaining positive momentum throughout its latest season, the epic crime drama, which some are calling a masterpiece, has officially peaked.

‘Mayor of Kingstown’ Season 4 Ending Explained – All Out War

The ending of Mayor of Kingstown Season 4 leaves a lot to be desired, with many plot points completely unresolved. It does, however, get rid of one Big Bad and make significant progress in a few other areas.

Seemingly conceived as an answer to the question “How much torture can be included in an hour of television?”, the finale of Mayor of Kingstown Season 4 leaves a little to be desired. It does do away with one of the lingering Big Bads in a relatively satisfying way, but it leaves pretty much everything else unresolved. There are major developments in each thread, no doubt, but it’s very much not an ending, and if Season 5 doesn’t get greenlit, which admittedly seems unlikely, then Episode 10 will have amounted to a deeply unsatisfying conclusion.
