Zverev Powers Into 8th Munich Quarterfinal

Today, Zverev continued his Munich mastery thrashing Gabriel Diallo 6-1, 6-2 to charge into the BMW Open quarterfinals for the eighth time in 12 appearances.

“I think he had some issues with the back and was not serving fully in the second set,” Zverev said in his on-court interview. “But I am happy with the win and happy to get an easier match today.”

Zverev joins compatriot Philipp Kohlschreiber (10) as the second German man to reach eight or more Munich quarterfinals.

The serve was the key stroke today. Zverev served 75 percent, won 25 of 30 first-serve points and saved the only break point he faced defeating Diallo for the second time this season following his four-set win in the Australian Open first round.

Joyce was asked about Black in an interview with Sky News this morning, where he said:

Nathan Buckley butts heads with AFL great over Harley Reid as Eagles urged to move for rival

AFL great Jack Riewoldt says Lachie Neale would be the perfect mentor for West Coast young gun Harley Reid after he was tagged out of the contest in the big loss to the Swans. But Nathan Buckley reckons Reid already has enough senior players to mentor him at the Eagles, and suggested criticism around the 20-year-old was a little unfair.

A relentless tag from Sydney's James Jordon blunted Reid's effectiveness in the 128-point thumping by the Swans in Round 4. And West Coast coach Andrew McQualter conceded afterwards that his young superstar didn't have enough support from teammates as he was effectively taken out of the contest in their biggest ever defeat at Optus Stadium.

McQualter says teammates need to help frustrated Eagle, Cox backs Charlie

West Coach coach says Harley Reid needs others to shake off a tag after being well held by Sydney's James Jordon

WEST Coast did not do enough to help star midfielder Harley Reid break his tag against Sydney on Saturday night, with coach Andrew McQualter calling on his players to boost their efforts to support the star playmaker this season.

Reid copped his first heavy tag of the season in a humbling 128-point loss to the Swans at Optus Stadium, with disciplined stopper James Jordon restricting the No.1 pick to 17 disposals, one clearance and one mark.

There was little support for the 20-year-old, whose frustration was evident at times, with McQualter warning the Eagles will need to do more to ensure their best player can shine under continued opposition scrutiny this season.

Bublik vs. Alcaraz Odds & Predictions (Apr. 10, 2026)

World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz, the defending Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters champion, meets No. 8 seed Alexander Bublik in the quarterfinals on clay, marking their first head-to-head clash at this ATP Masters 1000 event. Alcaraz advanced with straight-sets wins over Sebastian Baez and a hard-fought third-round battle against Tomas Martin Etcheverry, showcasing his instinctive volleying and clay-court prowess amid his title defense. Bublik earned his maiden Monte Carlo QF by downing Gael Monfils in the second round and upsetting Jiri Lehecka, riding momentum from straight-sets victories despite his surface history favoring faster courts. Traders weigh Alcaraz's superior rankings, clay pedigree, and home-like conditions against Bublik's unpredictable style and recent upsets, with no reported injuries altering lineups.

Carlos Alcaraz reacts to 300th career win after reaching Monte Carlo semi-finals

Carlos Alcaraz has become a regular record-breaker on the ATP Tour, and he added another entry to his growing list of achievements this week.

It’s not that anyone was shocked to see him do it. The way he dismantled Alexander Bublik 6-3, 6-0 showed just how sharp he is right now. He spotted his chance and grabbed it without hesitation.

Bublik’s unique style can throw players off, but Alcaraz stayed composed throughout. Once he settled into the match, there was only ever going to be one outcome.

Before Alcaraz, only two players in the history of men’s tennis had reached 300 wins this quickly. He got there after beating Bublik, becoming just the third to do it.

Severe Tropical Cyclone Narelle remains off the northern WA coastline and could intensify to category five system.

Coastal communities such as Carnarvon and Kalbarri are being asked to prepare for extreme weather not seen since the deadly and destructive Cyclone Seroja in 2021.

Narelle is expected to make landfall late on Friday night in a region much further south than usual, most likely as a severe category three cyclone.

Authorities in Western Australia are warning a severe tropical cyclone threatening towns and cities along Western Australia's north and Mid-West could cause significant destruction and is "more powerful than other recent severe weather events."

Why an American player shushed a hostile Miami Open crowd

American tennis player Alex Michelsen tuned on the Miami Open crowd following his third round win over Alejandro Tabilo.

The Miami Open is currently underway in the Hard Rock stadium, and there's already been plenty of drama.

Despite heading into the tournament as the firm favourite, world no.1 Carlos Alcaraz was eliminated in the second round, while both Novak Djokovic and Emma Radacanu were forced to withdraw ahead of the opening round.

The drama continued into the third round as young American player Michelsen dealt with a brutally hostile crowd during his match Tabilo, despite the event taking place in the US.

Michelsen and his clash with the Chilean crowd: “I just had to hit the silencer, unfortunately”

MIAMI — North American Alex Michelsen had to play against the crowd in his own country. A context that, he says, brings out the best in his tennis in the toughest moments.

“I like when people want me to lose,” Michelsen told a small group of reporters in Miami, including CLAY.

“I just had to hit the silencer, unfortunately,” the 21-year-old said on Tuesday after defeating Chile’s Alejandro Tabilo 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the third round of the Miami Open. Michelsen celebrated by shushing Chilean fans, placing his index finger on his lips, which triggered boos from spectators on Court 1 in Miami Gardens.

Three uncapped players called up for final home Socceroos friendlies before World Cup

Tony Popovic makes no promises to convince young players to commit

Tony Popovic said he did all he could to convince Adrian Segečić to play for the Socceroos and repeated the maxim that he won’t be “selling the shirt”, after naming a 26-player squad for upcoming friendlies, including one player who has never been to Australia.

Hibernian striker Ante Šuto, who was born and raised in Croatia, joins two other uncapped players for this month’s matches against Cameroon and Curaçao – young defender Lucas Herrington, who plays with Colorado Rapids, and forward Deni Jurić, who departed Socceroos camp last November due to injury.

Socceroos coach Tony Popovic has launched a passionate defence of his management of Adrian Segecic, vowing he will never make promises to young players about game time or bow to pressure to stop them defecting to another country.

Popovic unveiled a 26-player squad on Thursday for Australia’s upcoming friendlies against Cameroon and Curacao – their last fixtures on home soil before the World Cup in June – but the biggest talking point was a player who wasn’t in it, and now probably never will be.

Segecic, a former Sydney FC academy product who plays for Portsmouth in the English Championship, had his request to switch his international allegiance from Australia to Croatia approved over the weekend by FIFA.

Emerging midfielder Cooper Lord has signed a three-year contract extension to remain at IKON Park.

EMERGING Carlton midfielder Cooper Lord has signed a three-year contract extension, keeping him at IKON Park until at least the end of 2029.

Lord has further committed to the Blues after taking his game to the next level in 2025, in what has been a story of persistence for the 20-year-old.

Recruited through the 2024 mid-season draft, Lord featured in 21 games last year, earning his spot in the Blues’ engine room.

“Footballer’s footballer”: Re-signed Carlton utility’s hidden Blues connection

The midfielder has played 24 games since being selected and signed a three-year contract extension on Tuesday to remain at Ikon Park.

But he likely would not have even been on the Blues' radar if not for the scouting of a Carlton premiership player.

"(Ian Aitken) spoke to me about him and said 'you have to come and see this kid' and I watched him train and spoke to him and brought him into Dragons for the second half of pre-season going into 2023," Sandringham Dragons coach Rob Harding told Zero Hanger.

Cooper Lord: Contract Security vs. Scout-Led Development, What It Reveals

Emerging midfielder cooper lord has both a new three-year contract at Carlton and a backstory traced to Sandringham Dragons scouting. This article asks what comparing the club’s formal validation — a contract, awards and match statistics — with the grassroots scouting, coaching endorsements and positional versatility reveals about his trajectory.

Carlton confirmed a three-year contract extension that will keep Cooper Lord at IKON Park until at least the end of 2029, a move tied to his rise through 2025. Club records show he featured in 21 games last year after being recruited through the 2024 mid-season draft, earned a Round 10 Telstra AFL Rising Star nomination with 19 disposals and 400 metres gained, and produced a Round 22 performance of 24 disposals and 12 tackles while tagging Noah Anderson. He finished the season named Carlton’s Best Young Player and received the Spirit of Carlton Award, and he posted a career-high 26 disposals in an Opening Round match this season. Head of List Management Nick Austin described him as selfless and driven, and the club highlighted his toughness inside and speed outside as reasons for the extension.
