There were two questions worth asking after the Wests Tigers continued their magical run on Sunday afternoon.

Firstly, what is happening with the future of gun fullback Jahream Bula?

And secondly, why is Canterbury boss Phil Gould, in his job at Nine, allowed to repeatedly heap praise on the 24-year-old, who has been linked with a move to the Bulldogs during the free-to-air coverage?

Let’s start with Gould’s Bula love-in on Sunday. In commentary during Nine’s coverage, Gould did not hide his admiration for Bula’s display, in which he scored two tries, at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.

Gus’ startling call on up-for-grabs Tigers star; two other clubs tipped for gun No.1: Whispers

As the deadline nears for a 2027 mutual option to keep star fullback Jahream Bula at Wests Tigers next year, on-air comments from Bulldogs general manager Phil Gould have come under the microscope.

Bula has been sensational for the 4-1 Tigers this year and had his best game of the season against the Knights on Sunday, yet his future at the club remains cloudy.

The Bulldogs are rumoured to be one of the several teams interested in Bula’s services — meaning Gould’s comments on Channel 9 during the Tigers-Knights sparked close attention, even in Nine Newspapers.

Live: Tigers, Power at the MCG kick off an Easter double-header

Richmond kick off Easter Saturday football at the MCG looking for their first win of the season against Port Adelaide, before the Eagles host the Swans in Perth.

The Power has had a 1-2 start to the season under coach Josh Carr, while the Demons are 2-1 after their stunning comeback win over Carlton last weekend.

Later, Sydney will look to regain a spot in the top four against West Coast, as attacking star Isaac Heeney returns to the side.

Richmond got the early clarances, but Port Adelaide intercepted on half-back. They then drilled a pass downfield for debutant Mitch Zadow to take a solid grab.

RICHMOND and Port Adelaide open proceedings on Saturday in a battle between two teams at the lower reaches of the ladder.

Richmond (0-3) has picked up where it left off last year as it leaves fans guessing which version of the young side will turn up.

The Tigers started the season brightly when they gave Carlton a huge scare, but have since been well off the mark of challenging Gold Coast and Fremantle in a reality check of where they stand against the likes of the top-four hopefuls.

Quartet of changes for Round 4

There are four exciting Richmond inclusions for Saturday's clash against Port Adelaide.

Richmond has made four changes ahead of its Round 4 clash against Port Adelaide at the MCG.

Excitingly, key forward Liam Fawcett has earned his call up into the senior side for the first time in 2026, following strong VFL showings across the first two rounds, where he kicked three majors.

Kane McAuliffe returns to the side for the second time this year, joined by Samson Ryan, who will pull on the jumper for the first time in 2026. Nathan Broad also comes into the side after overcoming his calf setback.

How it came about: Dusty’s footy return confirmed

Richmond champion Dustin Martin will return to a local footy fielding 2026.

Channel 7’s Mitch Cleary is reporting that the three-time Norm Smith Medallist will suit up for the Port Douglas Crocs in early May.

Martin last played competitive footy in August 2024 – his final game with the Tigers.

It was reported in the Herald Sun in February that Dusty was on the verge of signing with Yarrawonga in the Ovens & Murray League but the Pigeons said at the time they hadn’t yet spoken to him.

However, Port Douglas will be rocking on May 2 when the Crocs host the South Cairns Cutters at the Port Douglas Sporting Complex.

Tigers reward Doueihi ahead of major positional switch

You have reached ESPN's Australian edition. Stay on current site or go to US version.

Wests Tigers have signalled their belief in Adam Doueihi's move to halfback by rewarding the playmaker with a two-year contract extension.

The Tigers announced on Friday, a little more than 24 hours ahead of their season opener with North Queensland, that Doueihi had penned a deal that will keep him at Concord until the end of 2029.

Only Alex Twal and Sione Fainu, whose deals also expire in 2029, are signed as long as Doueihi.

The new contract is a huge showing of faith from both parties given the Tigers' struggles under Benji Marshall and Doueihi's luckless run with injuries.

Former NSW premier Barry O’Farrell has been sacked as chairman of Wests Tigers in a purge of the board by the NRL club’s owners.

The joint venture has been plagued by dysfunction at boardroom level since the merger between Balmain and Wests in 1999, and the latest round of firings plunges it into more turmoil.

Tigers chaos: Board purged again as ‘wrong colour’ jersey blamed for off-field turmoil

Wests Tigers are again facing off-field chaos, with four directors including former NSW premier Barry O’Farrell sacked over a series of disputes including the colour of next season’s jersey.

The joint venture club removed chairman O’Farrell and fellow independent directors Annabelle Williams, Charlie Viola and Michelle McDowell, leaving majority owner Holman Barnes Group – which runs the Wests Ashfield League Club – in full control.

They joined the board in January, as part of major changes following the axings of past chairman Lee Hagipantelis and chief executive Justin Pascoe, and their exits throw doubt on the future of current chief Shane Richardson given he was a close ally of O’Farrell.
