New M6 MacBook Pro details revealed, including Dynamic Island, touch, more

Apple has its first touchscreen-equipped Mac coming later this year: the M6 MacBook Pro. And a new report offers fresh details on what to expect.

Mark Gurman has a new report at Bloomberg today that offers fresh details on the forthcoming M6 MacBook Pro with an OLED touchscreen.

First, Gurman says that the iPhone’s Dynamic Island feature is coming to the next-gen MacBook Pro.

The Dynamic Island on the Mac will be built around a hole-punch-sized cutout for the computer’s camera. It’s smaller than the pill-shaped notch in current iPhones.

It sounds like the current Mac notch design is getting significantly sized down. But even with a small hole-punch, the software will make the cutout blend seamlessly by adding a Dynamic Island UI.

In his latest scoop, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman dishes out a few details about the touchscreen-enabled Mac laptops we’ve heard about for some time.

The new laptops—14 and 16-inch MacBook Pros, specifically—are currently on track to be released near the end of 2026. It sounds like the typical “October to December” timeframe isn’t changing.

According to Gurman, the new MacBook Pros will include OLED displays that include both touch capabilities and the Dynamic Island as seen on the iPhone. As with the iPhone, it will show the status of active tasks, sports scores, alerts, timers, and more. As he describes it, the MacBook Pro’s Dynamic Island will be centered around a hole-punch camera cutout, smaller than the “pill” shape on iPhones. If you have been hoping for Face ID on a MacBook, as we have, it sounds like it might not be there just yet.

AC/DC’s Melbourne Show Registered Seismic Activity On Nearby Earthquake Detectors

AC/DC’s opening night of their Power Up Tour at Melbourne Cricket Ground on Wednesday (November 12) was so electrifying that earthquake equipment two miles away detected ground vibrations equivalent to low-frequency seismic waves. “The sound waves that people were experiencing nearby and feeling something through their bodies, that’s the equivalent to what our seismographs feel,” said Adam Pascale, chief scientist at the Seismology Research Centre, who clarified, “We’re picking up the ground motion, we’re not picking up the sound from the air.” According to the Centre, the ground movement was caused by both powerful speakers on the floor of the venue and the energetic crowd jumping up and down. While AC/DC made their presence felt in their return home to Australia for the first time in a decade, it wasn’t as intense as Taylor Swift’s recent Eras Tour shows at the same venue, which generated the largest signals ever received by the Centre for a concert. AC/DC’s Power Up Tour continues with upcoming dates in Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, and Brisbane. (Billboard)
