    Track Cyclone Narelle live as it approaches Queensland coast

    Tropical Cyclone Narelle has formed in the Coral Sea off the coast of Far North Queensland, bringing with it the danger of damaging winds and heavy rain.

    ‘LEAVE NOW’: Shelter opens as cyclone approaches WA town

    An urgent weather warning has been issued to residents living in WA’s north as a tropical low system continues to intensity off the coast.

    An evacuation centre is open at Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre. Another evacuation centre will open at 8am on Saturday January 24 at the Derby Civic Centre.

    DFES released a statement on Friday evening warning that people in Dampier Peninsula should leave now if not prepared.

    “Locals and travellers within the warning area should reconsider travel plans over the Australia Day long weekend due to the forecast crossing of a tropical cyclone. Roads and tracks in the area may become impassable or could close with little notice,” the statement said.

    Tim David has suffered a minor setback in his recovery from a hamstring injury ahead of the T20 World Cup but remains on track for the tournament while Australia's selectors are firming on a plan for Pat Cummins to make a late entry to the tournament.

    David, Cummins and Josh Hazlewood are among five of Australia's T20 World Cup who won't feature in the three-match series against Pakistan which starts at the end of the month alongside Glenn Maxwell and Nathan Ellis.

    Australia announce squad for Pakistan T20Is

    Australia's Pat Cummins will be kept on ice until a few games into the Twenty20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka as selectors take a cautious approach with the pace veteran's recovery from a lower back injury.

    Cummins returned to action during the third Ashes test in Adelaide but missed the last two matches against England and will skip Australia's T20 warm-up matches against Pakistan.

    Selectors' chief George Bailey confirmed that pace bowlers Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Ellis, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and hard-hitting batter Tim David will also be rested from the three-match series against Pakistan in Lahore, which starts on January 29.
